I remember first hearing this song years ago when they were playing it live on a late tv show once, at the darkest point of my depression. I used to listen to this song and cry, now years on I can listen to it and enjoy the melodies and beautiful voices. I once couldn't resonate with anything but the "I don't think that I can do this anymore." You can do this.
Exactly what happened me, Once I couldn't sleep and turned BBC1, they played this song, and I just sit there, silently in the darkness, let this song refilled my emptiness.
Freya Mary there was an italian poet who used to say that our sorrows and painful late night thoughts all become flowers in the morning. I'm happy you were able to get through that delicate light depriving period of yours. However life will go, with its ups and downs, I hope you'll be able to look at it as the brightest dawn and best possibility ever. Keep on finding, treasuring these melodies and make them yours💖
3 years ago I watching an interview from birdy they asked her what music she'd been listening to and she mentioned the staves I trust her taste so I gave them a listen I was instantly pulled in by wisely and slow and I have all their music now
"Facing West" A room with a window facing west Towards the sea You, with your hands across your chest Facing me Sing me a song, your voice is like silver and I don't think that I can do this anymore I'll take the high road that he walked Once before You sit and watch me as I come Through the door Sing me a song, your voice is like silver and I don't think that I can do this anymore Sing me a song, your voice is like silver and I don't think that I can do this anymore Show me the path down to the shoreline 'cause I don't know if I can do this anymore A room with a window facing west.
Just seen this band on BBC2 and fell in love. The harmonys remind me of Crosby,Still,Nash and Young. Yep, I am an old hippy. Lovely band are the Staves.

its like a serendipitous moment. Im currently staying at my sister's place for a vacation and i was wondering where the little window on the side of their room is facing, i opened my compass application found out it was facing exactly west. Searched it up on the internet if its significant or something and this song is the first thing that came popping out. thinking of maybe doing a 'little moments in life' video compilation and this will be the background music. its soothing my soul.
Sometimes the world comes up with things that are simply perfect. This song is one of those times, when everything has come together to produce one of the most moving yet uplifting and enchanting pieces of music I've ever heard. I don't always deal in superlatives, but I'll make an exception here. I bet when Emily, Jessica, and Camilla heard the finished track played back they just went "Yessss". At least I hope they did. It really is that good and I can't stop playing it. Thank you. x
"Your voice is like silver" - how true about all your voices girls. Love this and love your album. Would love to see you live, if you're ever in East Yorkshire!!
This was the newest song when I first discovered them. Since then, I've been in love with them. I used to play their songs on my guitar all day long! Time flies, indeed. They're always amazing! Gonna love them forever :)
This is the best music every man woman and child should have this in their music collection , real creative music and harmony. music is the food of love spirit lifted and going in for seconds love this .
I used to fall asleep with the TV on years ago and this would be played in the overnight transmission, their haunting voices used to wake me up. I'd listen to the end of the song before turning the TV off, this happened for months
Oh how I love the Staves.Three voices working together as if linked by one mind. Always heartfelt and so beautifully presented. Looking forward to seeing them at the Scala in London very soon.
I first heard them on Jools Holland more than ten years ago. Been hooked ever since. Now, lately, my life is in flux, and these songs speak to me in a completely different way. Meaningfully. It’s like listening for the 1000th time and the first time. I guess it’s what we refer to as timeless. Thank you Stavely-Taylors.
I love you 3 young ladies, beautiful voices harmonizing, voices like silver : ) more like gold or diamonds, yes keep doing it more and more ❤ Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
I see I'm not the only one who knows this song from midnight BBC TV. I heard it earlier this week, unfortunately I fell asleep afterwards but still hoping to remember their name, but of course I didn't. I've been looking for it for days. Thankfully couldn't sleep tonight (now 02.30) and it came on again, So now I'm happy again, always nice to so an all female group with their own sound.
me and my best friend were being teenagery and silly by smoking substances out of her window until the early hours of the morn, and this song played through her television and we both just sat in silence listening to it. i'm moving away in a few days and i'm making her a mixtape. i saved this 'til last.
Me too. I fell asleep on sofa few weeks ago around around around on a loop this song went all night. Low and behold in the morning i woke up and knew it word for word amazing song and lyrics.
I was brought here by bbc 2 also I just caught the ending & quickly wrote down the lyrics & typed it into google & here I am! What a lovely song I'm so glad I'm a night owl & stumbled upon this gem!
Seriously hearing that whistle bit live is literally one of the cutest things I've ever seen/heard. They're phenomenal live but how shy Emily seemed whilst whistling beat it all for me.
I heard this song years ago on Google radio, but after they updated I couldn't find the station this song played on. The beauty of this song has haunted me for years, and it's so incredible to have found it again.
The most beautifully delightful piece of scrumptiousness I've heard in a long time. Kylie Platt begs her mother Mother-in-Law Gail to sing her a farewell as she leaves
This song is simplistic and perfect! How this hasn't been used more in films and advertising I will never know..... First time I heard this was Jules Holland and I was doing something but it totally turned my head! As beautiful a pop song as you'll ever hear
with your voices ..you cannot go wrong ..but we also love this recent video..and some of past official vids have been splendid too..its good to note that you are surrounded by other creatives who adore your sound and want to show you at your best!
I recently discovered The Staves with "Tired as Fuck" on TH-cam, and am still finding really impressive songs every day. This one is really very captivating. The Stavely-Talor sisters have this brilliant way of sounding old-timey and original and fresh at the same time. Such talent!
i caught the end of this song on the radio at night and scrawled myself a post-it which i found the next morning, saying only 'the states(??) emily, jessica'. i spent so much time since then trying to find it everywhere, and finally i have.
yeah me too, and it is played more than once in a night on that station too. It is beautiful and quite haunting and reminds me of my husband who I lost in March

Freya Mary similar for me, but this song reminded me of a love lost, made me sad, but now that memories fade, I can appreciate the beauty of it. :)

Freya Mary amazing how much a song helps depression, isn't it? I've had my songs too.
"Sing me a song, your voice is like silver" Oh man. Almost too beautiful.
Heard this playing on a random radio station that a neighbour was listening to one night. Only took me 4 years to find it.
these ladies seem like such 'old souls'. I adore them.

I like the utter simplicity of this song. The harmonies are gorgeous.

Three very perfect young ladies singing a perfect song.
It's quite ironic. I've never been into girl bands. But the staves have to be one of the most fantastic things I've ever heard.
