Back by popular demand, here is my 2023 Gift Guide for Quilters. I thought I was too late for this year when I returned from Hawaii. But so many viewers asked for it, I did a big look through what I use the most and love. Enjoy. Check out some of my past year's guides too for other ideas. Enjoy!!
Great
Any guidance on cleaning the Panasonic iron? Mine got gook on it from some wonder under and it’s been hard to clean. 😢
Found your channel when my husband asked what I wanted for Christmas. Told him I wanted to start quilting again so he bought me a inexpensive machine for now.
Here’s the fun thing. I’m legally blind abs learned to quilt by hand with my grandma. She told me to learn to sew I needed to learn to hand piece… which I dislike. Lol!
I stopped quilting when my second husband and I decided to live in a small motorhome. No place to sew so I gave away my machine and my tons of collected fat quarters and bandannas as well as yardage…
Now I’m getting back into it. He wants his football quilt! Lol!
My vision is worsening as I age. I’m 52… my 3rd husband is also legally blind… soooo I will be teaching him to cut the pieces. He wants to be involved with my projects.
I made and sold 6 quilts and 4 wall ganging and 5 sets of mug rugs.
We shall see if I can still do this!
That's amazing to be able to quilt, blindness doesn't have to stop you that is an inspiration
@@ArtByKarenEHaley I’ll be posting sone of it on my channel. There might be a video in 2017 of how I do this then.
Or you can look for my other now deduct (more then this one currently) that’s disability related. If I find it I’ll link it.
Awesome, have fun!
I love your gift guide! I discovered LDH scissors and snips and I absolutely love them. I have an older version of the iron. The best iron ever. I don’t want mine to stop working, but I really like the new features in the newest model. Thank you so much Karen.
Thank you so much for mentioning our quilt storage bag! We're so glad you love it!
Your tutorials have given me so many helpful and enjoyable ticks, tipps and strategy since I started quilting about 2 years ago - thank you so much! Just in case you're interested: I've been trying to get my hands on one of those panasonic cordless irons since watching your video featuring the older modell. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it with 220V for use in Europe, where I live. So sad....
After watching your first video on the Panasonic cordless iron, I purchased it. And have loved it ever since. The 10 minute shutoff is the only thing I’d change about it. Best spur of the moment quilting purchase I’ve ever made. Thank you! ❤
They have one with a 30 minute shut off. I bought it after my first one died ( daily use- lasted 3 years).
Any suggestions on cleaning it? My iron surface has gunk on it and it’s not coming off. I like the iron but I haven’t been able to use it lately
Great gift ideas Karen. Clever hubby making thread trays.👏♥️🇦🇺
I bought my first panasonic iron based on yr recommendation. I agree the 10 min timer was the area to be enhanced, still love everything else about it.
Instead of using wrapping paper, my friend and I decided to use a decorated bag which we swap over each year. Another way of wrapping this year (in addition to the bag) was using my leftover large scraps of novelty fabrics. I have no grandchildren (used some in my own adult children's quilts) and she makes quilts suitable for all ages for the Altzheimers Society. She was thrilled as the children's quilts sell fast! Another idea is a small bottle of Best Press. I added a fine spray bottle (usually sold for hairdressing) for her to use and dilute the Best Press. We always seem to find different things and are always thrilled with what we have. Thank you for the extra ideas Karen. I might look into the hand massager for my mother and hope we can get it over here.
I never thought of sewing and Panasonic in the same sentence. Once again, some of these gifts work for non-quilters too. I think quilters would enjoy ALL of these items.
I love my Panasonic iron but I have the 10 minute version--would love to upgrade to the 30 minute version. BTW--that red blouse is a great color on you.
Thank you
As a Belgian follower I'm curious to know where you will go in Belgium and the Netherlands!
Recently I was asked to do a show and tell of my Panasonic cordless iron for my quilt guild meeting. My friends were impressed as they had never seen this product. Of course I took that opportunity to introduce Just Get It Done Quilts as well as the iron to my guild. I have been seeing these new irons at our workshops as well as subscribers to your channel.Thank you Karen for continuing to give to the community of quilters.
Thank you 🤗
Do you have a link for the new model for the iron for the US? The link is for Canada.
Okay I was gonna roll my eyes at a sponsor being #1 but legit MY PANOSONIC CORDLESS HAD MADE MY IRONING LIFE SO MUCH EASIER.
My ironing board is behind me, I quilt in an office chair, and I can put a little press pad on my workstation and still reach the base, so I odn't have to cord rangle.
I would LOVE to hear a video on storage of raw fabrics and finished quilts. As a longarmer I finish a lot of quilts that will be stored or displayed instead of used. I also get a lot of vintage tops as well as fabrics that have been badly stored. Whether it is as an archivalist trying to preserve items, or just someone who wants to take good care of their expensive stash, I'd love to hear maybe a Karen's Quilt Circle on the best and safest ways to store and display both raw fabrics abd quilts. Avoiding warp and "baconing". Keeping them nice and flat and unstretched..... any help? Love your channel, I'm a big Brownie!
Ooh I am loving the new Panasonic iron-a definite improvement of my old Panasonic cordless one.
Really great; I like the information on the iron. I realized that I currently iron using a death grip and I always seem to wear out my ironing board cover in the same spot.
Maybe in a future video; practices and products for your ironing area.
I showed my husband the iron and before you even finished talking about it he told me to order it. We’ve been married for 34 years and he has always ironed his own clothes his choice and he was impressed with this iron. I’m very excited about it. Thank you for sharing this info.
Once you go cordless, you never go back
Thank you Karen. Your telling of the benefits of our Vigurus cushions and insoles is so supportive and chamingly explicit of your experiences.
You’re selling me on that iron let me tell you 😂
New glasses? They’re stunning. Thanks for the suggestions, who would’ve guessed I needed more “stuff”? ❤️❤️
Glad you like them!
Never, did I think that an iron would be on my list of things to buy, but quilting has changed that. Thanks for the product reviews.
It’s something that you don’t know that you needed, but once you try it you never give it back
Karen, I LOVE my cordless Panasonic iron. Not as many features as the newest one, but I have had it for OVER 30 YEARS and it still does what I need it to! It was a wedding gift from my wish list. LOVE LOVE LOVE!
Excellent list and presentation. I want the new Panasonic cordless iron so badly.... I bought the Oliso iron and while I liked it, I found it too heavy for my arthritic hands and wrists. So I bought a lighter weight iron. Now, this one.... 🤔. That's a lotta green on irons 😂
There are many people that need irons so pass them on. Trying my hand at selling online this month
Great choices Karen. I love the price points & products!
Excellent. Thank you
Karen, thanks for all the knowledge sharing!
I would add batting to the list. Any idea where to get a large roll of batting like yours in Canada?
Any quilting store can order a roll for you.
Will there be quilting activities during the Iceland/Scotland cruise?
Yes. Five days at sea, we have our own space to sew. Sewing machines are provided
Where can I find the information for all your suggestions? I’m not real handy on you tube and can’t find them.

I bought a cordless iron and I had about 30 seconds before it had to return to be charged again. No more cordless irons for me!
Cordless irons do not work on a charge but on a heat sink. So it has a consistent heat that depletes on a slow scale. There are no sudden drops in temperature.
How do I find the web site to purchase the spool holder you showed that your husband sells on line?
Email him at tamrspd@gmail.com
Both my husband and I are quilters, and we LOVED this video! Thanks for all the great ideas! Wishing you all the best the holiday season has to offer, and best wishes for a happy, healthy New Year! ❤
Glad to hear 🤗🤗🤗
I'm sure tempted to get the scissors. The older I get the easier I need to make it on myself, and good lightweight scissors would really be great. Thank you, Karen!
Thanks Karen for a wonderful gift list! 🎁 🎉
Hi Karen … I looove your channel and look so forward to your videos … I have an odd question for you … I know you have a Murphy bed in your sewing space … I have recently installed a Murphy bed as well and it’s amazing as now I have space in my guest room for sewing … my question is do you have any tips for the bedding that you keep on your Murphy bed? I have seen you take it down in a past video and noticed a beautiful quilt on yours … are there any tricks to keeping the bedding on the bed while in it’s upright position ? Any advice you have would be fabulous… thank you my friend and please keep producing beautiful content for our community xxoo Denise
I normally don’t keep linen on the bed unless I know the same guest is coming back. I do have a long bungee cord that hold the pillows in place when I put the bed away
that is a great tip the bungee cords for the pillows ... thanks much :)@@JustGetitDoneQuilts
Thanks Karen, these are great ideas! I recently bought a clover fabric tube maker for my sew buddy and what a wonderful product! We are making baskets and this product does all the folding and you feed it through 2 sets of tubes. It has cut the process time in half by enabling one to do it all in one step! I highly recommend this product!
I'm already ahead of the game. My new seat cushion is on the way. Got the travel size to see how I like it. It's been on my radar for a while, and I decided to take the plunge this year.
Thread trays.
Thank you! 🎄
Off subject, is there a video on sewing large pieces of fabric, like backing together? Or maybe smashing, so that it doesn’t wave? Thanks Judy
Is the Panasonic iron 1700 watts or 1800 watts?
1500W
Great suggestions thank you for sharing❤
I asked for the sewtites cutting system for Christmas and wouldn’t have asked for it if you hadn’t recommended it. It was a huge thumbs down from me👎. For $525🇨🇦 it was a complete waste of money. From now on I will definitely not be taking your recommendations.
Sorry to hear that. I love mine and use it daily
What problem are you having? How can I help?
The magnets were coming out of the teal holders. I returned it. Was just disappointed for the cost, you did mention that yours was free. It’s far to costly to be really worth while.
I just love you! Your energy is awesome!
Thank you so much!!
What a great guide! I’m waiting for my machine and stash to follow me across the sea but finally getting personal time again to sew from the New Year. I won’t make either of your trips unfortunately, but when in Cork, a great stop could be Vibes and Scribes on St Patrick’s Hill in Cork City, which could be arranged en route back to the cruise dock in Cobh. And I am looking forward to exploring Belgium, and a few other EU countries, for sewing inspiration and materials, in my 3 years here, so I’d love to hear any great recommendations either before or after your own explorations.
Thanks for the tip
I'm very interested in the thread trays. What is his etsy (?) Channel?
shorturl.at/imDS9
Thanks for explaining the upgrades of the iron. It just ordered one the other day, and I went back to this video to listen to the upgrades and get the model number you upgraded to. Thanks for all you do.
I have been thinking of a new cutting mat Would you like to do a video on the different aspects that would be helpful in choosing one.
I had a cordless but couldn’t remember it can’t sit on its end. Oops it’s a habit. It fell devastatingly on its second use. 😢
Great video today Karen … I may need to check out several of your links!
Thank you so much for all the great videos. Hello from Wakefield Quebec
The removable water reservoir on the new iron model....love this idea! I hope they come out with more colors. I have the older cordless model and love it.
Another outstanding video with great suggestions and inspiration. Thank you.
I absolutely LOVE the thread dispenser - so clever- however the shipping to the USA is double the cost. Maybe you could find a friend in the states who could ship them lowering the S&H costs. If you can please let us know. I will buy one immediately. I realize that you do not set the shipping fees. For some reason shipping over the border both ways is ridiculous.

My cordless Panasonic iron is a dream come true. I absolutely love it. Purchased mine after seeing your trial run on one. So very glad I took the plunge.
Was there some issues with it last 6 months? It seems to have fallen out of the Favs....or maybe that was just fake news..or between new model release. I'm due for new iron so looking curious. I have 20 year old rowenta..they were made in.Germany then
Glad you like it as much as I do.
Not that I know of.
I just wish the shut-off timer was programmable. I don’t see why they can’t engineer the iron so the user can decide how long it should stay on.
@@dorothyyoung8231 you can shut the iron off any time you like manually. You don't have to wait for the programmable timer to shut it off.
Do you use any teeny tiny irons I see ?
I have a tiny one that I have in my travel bag
Absolutely love the tray for hand sewing!
Karen, I’m a little worried about such strong magnets close to my machine (Bernina 770 QE Plus). Are you sure they’re safe?
Why? What do you think the magnets will do?
There’s quite a bit of online conversation about magnets and computers out there, especially in the context of our computerized machines. For instance, Brother says to use them in the sewing area only and to keep them away from the display screen, and to never use strong magnets. (Since my display is not far from the sewing area, that one makes me nervous.) Supposedly the memory can be affected. But the chatter is all over the place, with one “expert” saying no to strong magnets and other experts saying there’s no problem. It’s been very confusing. I even have a friend who told me her Bernina repairman told her not to use magnets near her machine. With such a wide array of opinions out there, I just wondered if you also had an opinion. This machine represents a major financial sacrifice for me, and I go to great lengths to take good care of it.
@@JustGetitDoneQuiltsI think she means the fact that magnets and anything techie do not mix! So I'm assuming the Bernina is a computerized machine, hence the worry about the strong magnets...it can really mess things up!
I have an older computerized Bernina. Definitely NO magnets anywhere near the machine!!!
Thank you very much.
the quilt shop has a fabric grab bag. other than that a want a square.
Some really great ideas. I asked for the iron for my birthday almost 2 years ago per yor recommendation and I absolutely love it. I just recommended the shoe inserts to a friend who longarms for people and she suffers from achy calves at night. The Best Press is a good idea too. I thought the thread tray was very clever as well.
If money is an issue for some, consider doing a trade with a fellow quilter for services, such as quilting, piecing, binding, cutting out a quilt top, etc. I love binding but have friends that hate doing it. An exchange for something they like doing and I don't is a win-win. Gift someone sewing dates. Mark your calendar and agree to gather at those times and maybe provide a lunch. There are sew many great ideas!
The iron!! ❤ I have test driven my mother's. Love that it's cordless.
Hi Karen. I am trying to buy the Panasonic thru the link to attached and when I enter my postal code is telling me it is invalid. I live in Florida , USA . And that is my postal code how can I solve this matter please help.
Let me check
Puzzle from Cobble Hill, not Cobb Hill......
How do I buy a thread tray, I live in the Uk? Great idea for taking on retreats.
shorturl.at/imDS9
I bought a Panasonic too, which is great when I go to sewing retreats.
I have one of those irons too. I’ve had it for a year and I love it.
I have a Panasonic cordless iron also. I love it!!!!!
Great ideas! Thank you for sharing!
I just saw your video running on Vigurus Technologies Inc channel.
👍
I really like the thread tray. Cannot seem to find where it can be purchased.

want scissors too. am I getting to wanty?
Your Panasonic cordless iron review certainly held my attention, you present things so well!
I would never have done it if I didn’t love it.
I am a disabled person and I want to start quilting I need some advice for this, I also I need some advice for setting up my sewing room as well.
Thank you for your kindness and time.
Donna Lane
Kingman Arizona
Setting up your sewing space would depend on the type of disability you have (ie. mobility, wheelchair, eyesight, flexibility, circulation issues).... If your home is already set up for your personal situation, think about how that works...the same would be for your sewing room...outlets where you can reach, a low enough sewing table/cutting table for the wheelchair to access...pull down drawers for easy reaching, proper lighting, vinyl plank floors instead of carpet, stick magnet for picking up dropped pins. The biggest issue would be accessibility to all your supplies. See if there is an OT in your area (Occupational Therapist)...they may be able to help you with setting up daily tasks/access to what you need.
@@DH-qz2so ma'm thank you for your suggestions and for your time, my hands and shoulders knees and ankles are the problem not to mention that I am left handed here...
I appreciate your kindness and your time...
Thank you so much.

I look forward to your video’s. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge with us.
You are so welcome!
I love my Panasonic iron!
thx for all of these suggestions 🎄
The thread trays are brilliant!
Thank you
I love my Panasonic iron. But the new one looks so pretty…….
Yes…why does everything have to be grey
Great suggestions! Cheers Christine
OMG, love those thread trays. I’ll be sure to check them out, but like always it’s the cost of postage to Australia that determine if I can afford something or not.
Well, I’m back from checking out the postage, and at C$54.85 for a set I will give it a miss. That seems terribly OTT to me unless they are made of solid hold which would account for the postage cost based on weight!
No, they are actually designed to go in a small mailer. Contact him directly to confirm shipping costs tamrspd@gmail.com
Same here in the USA. $24 to ship for an item that costs ~$13? Sorry. I sadly have to pass.
Your hair looks lovely!!
❤️👍👍👍❤️👋👋👋❤️
Have this iron and love it!
Not doing it for the uk, why not Panasonic?
Something to do with the voltage
Great list. I think I may want to try the eye massager. ❤😊
I find it really helpful to destress
Pity they don’t sell them in Australia
It seems they are only available in 120V
Brilliant thread tray!
Love that thread tray
Thank you
I love my hand massager and my iPad holder
I love the heat
With little kids in the house I actually like a shorter time limit for an iron shutting off. I'll go back to your other movies to check out the old model, since I do need a new iron.
(I know I do because ironing on interfacing was taking me 4 passes...)
That's such a brain numbing activity...and there is no way to rush it
Does the iron stay hot enough , long enough between putting it on the base?
Of course. I would not continue to use it if it did not
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing these items.
Glad you like them!
How long does the iron stay warm after you take it off the base?
I have never timed it…but I don’t have an issue that it’s a problem
Approx. 30 seconds...
I had 2 Panasonic cordless irons….first leaked after 3 mos. Second, I never put water in and it stopped working after about 6 mos. I won’t buy another.
Love my LDH scissors......
There is a wonderful sound when sharp scissors cut fabric
You mentioned that you use polyester thread for hand sewing. I was taught that polyester is too strong for using with cotton fabrics and will eventually saw through the piecing. I have witnessed this on some of the quilt tops that I inherited from my elder family members. How is the thread you mentioned different?
Polyester of today is different from the polyester of yesteryear. Invisafil is also very fine 100wt
Thank you for clarifying that. I look forward to trying the Invisafil.
love my irin
iron
I want a new one
Sewist? What sort of word is that!?
It is a word in common usage in the online sewing community
A person whose artistic expression is sewing!
It’s a fun word 🤩
It is a wordist, from the great-ist youtubeist channelist there is ist!
