    HeyGears makes very impressive resin 3D printers, but the community is a little divided over their decision to have a closed ecosystem. So in this episode, I try my best to examine the benefits and downfalls of both sides.

    I want to know how much they paid people because the pushing on this printer is even worse than the uniformation GK2, it's almost like pedaling lol.............

      Some people got paid. The ones I saw disclosed it properly. Others like me just got the printer for review.

      @Titan3DAZ 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I didn't get paid for it. I just got the printer bundle. There is a lot going for that printer, but a lot that it misses the mark on, especially within the community. It feels to me like more of a formlabs competitor. They belong in the industrial market where business and part production is far more important.

      @@Titan3DAZ I don't know I must be blind but I don't see what it has going for it, resins that are calibrated proprietary resins how is that something going for it, if you don't like calibrating your resin pay someone to do it for you and you'll still save half of what that machine cost

      @@FigureFeedback yeah the ones that got paid don't actually say how much, and when you actually get a free printer, I know youtubers don't think it's payment but it is you're getting something that's worth money whether you keep it or sell it that's payment

      @@NoMercyFtw Like I mentioned, I think this has more of a place in the professional or industrial side of 3d printing. Most of those companies want a printer that will just work, and make what they want. I have worked for 2 service bureaus and that is all they were interested in. A printer that works, and is extremely consistent. Now, I am not saying that is not possible with say an Elegoo saturn for example, but the guarantee of success is more important. Moreover, most of the "technicians" are never more than people who just like to push start and get their parts. Those of us who dive deep into the hows and whys, can make perfectly due with that same, low cost saturn.

    About the Beta versus release version of Blueprint - you as a TH-camr are using a pre-release version of the RS (the final product doesn't ship until the 2nd week of October). Therefore, having problems in the mainstream software should not be reported as an issue. The fact that you were able to use the release version was the problem - you should not have been able to do that. You should have been using the BETA version with the RS for the entire beta pre-release cycle.

      HeyGears never said the printer I received was any different than the one everyone else was getting. Nor did they ever specify there were two different slicers and one was preferred over the other. I used this printer as a consumer would by downloading the official slicer from their website.
      Also, some people are receiving their printers already and the software has been updated to beyond version 1.0. Yet it still doesn't work in the official slicer.

    Am I a hypocrite for being pro-Bambu (A1 owner) and anti-Heygears?

    • @Titan3DAZ
      @Titan3DAZ 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Not 100%. At least with bambu, you can put in any ABS or PLA. What we are seriously lacking is the same level of consistency in the resin market that we have in the FDM market. You can buy any ABS, and within reason, you'll get ABS that prints like ABS. You can't buy any resin and use the same settings. All of them need to be calibrated and tuned. Not to mention, companies can just change a formula mid production run, to fix a print issue, and you have to start over 100% with the calibration and tuning.

      @@Titan3DAZ Bambu also has LAN mode where you don't need to contact the mothership to print wirelessly. I think this is only in certain printers, though?

    • @Titan3DAZ
      @Titan3DAZ 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @dtandersen the reflex has a LAN mode. I'm not sure with all Bambu machines. I returned my 2 X1Cs and haven't got another one since.

    I've never seen such a marketing barrage for a printer before.

    • @FigureFeedback
      @FigureFeedback  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's like this for nearly every major product release, especially in the tech space.

      @@FigureFeedback You're not wrong, but this particular set of reviews felt particularly non-organic.

    • @FigureFeedback
      @FigureFeedback  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's not organic. It's planned marketing. The company (and many others) send out review units in advance in exchange for a videos. Some videos are paid promotions, some are unpaid honest reviews. Those videos are embargoed until a certain date/time. That's why you're seeing so many videos about it all at once. You'll see the same thing happen with the next printer release.

      @@dtandersen yeah the last time I seen this was with the uniformation GK2, and this printer is worse because it's claiming it's the best

    • @DuaneBendt-ch2od
      @DuaneBendt-ch2od 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I don’t know if it’s a marketing barrage as much as providing as much information for a product that is pertinent. I may be in the minority, but I don’t want to have to figure out all the settings so my prints don’t fail. I would rather just choose what I want to print and have it not fail. And I modded the crap out of my filament printer, so anyone else can just throw an object in the sliver and tell it to print and it won’t fail. After getting everything dialed in, I haven’t had a failed print. And that is what I want with resin printing.
