@@paulbell7654 as if an oddly specific dig at Musk of all billionaires and the call to unionize and embrace a big government weren't enough of tells :)
Cory is a chef and he was cooking in that kitchen.
50 minutes of straight to the point, fat free real talk🥇
When the guys shirt star is dead center it makes the skull look like a frog standing up hand held high .. now you won't unsee it !
The means of production is the factory. Programmers ARE the factory. You don't need to seize the means of production, you are the means of production.
Commenting to give interaction to show the big microwave that this video deserves more
hoestly the saddest thing is that while this is the most important talk I've seen since the last Cory Doctorow Defcon Talk, I don't know a single person with the attention span to watch it
true, the thing i cant stop thinking is: if this talk was actually effective the megacorps mentioned would be suing the venue and organisers (among other punative methods) to silence it. They would be trying their damnedest to make him persona non grata.
Hopefully they're just ignorant, overly comfortable in their hegemonic power.
@@ince55antone thing megacorps have become good at is appropriating counter culture and cynicism and using them to recapture people
Yeah that's a fair worry. But people like me are also watching way more of this than I thought I had the attention span for when I clicked, and I have almost zero experience with computing tools but he's inspiring the sh!t outta me, he's so engaging
Maybe the powers that be know of and fear the potential harnessed power of ADHD hyperfocused hackers, might be why they make it hard to get diagnosis and medication. Only half joking 😅
I was riveted!
Love that the good old wired LXR microphone comes in for the save.
(*XLR) Absolutely, it pays to have a backup.
I love that man. He says exactly what is on my mind.
Great speech. We definitely need to enforce our antitrust laws. We also need to enforce our fraud laws in the face of AI
i don't know how i haven't heard of this man before but i absolutely love him
Amazing speaking. Truth to Power when the high tec is just to keep them in power wile making them supreme over competitiveness...
That was awesome! He like hacked the feedback or whatever that interference was by waving his arm up and jumping and was clearly following his sense of action there. lol
People should save their criticism until after watching the entire video. He's a great speaker.
Tough to get through the first few seconds of mask mumbling...
@@trumpetpunk42 He sounded perfectly fine. The most he did was take breaths. That's the only critique and it's not a strong one. Watch it without video and it might help
Why? Just seeing someone wearing a mask tells me they aren't worthy of any further evaluation and can be easily dismissed.
It's strangely refreshing to hear someone swear in a microphone. It feels like that happens less and less
Right? It kinda caught me off guard, in a good way. It was so unexpected because of how uncommon it is. *It's honest.*
The best speaker ever .... Love it! ❤
FKING love every version of this talk. platforms be damned, take back the internet and make it smol
one of the most concise and complete talks on this topic. amazing, thank you!
1:14 preach preach!! This guy is on point!
Honestly, I’m impressed that he did this whole speech without a single drink of water
I've thought all of these things! Seeing someone talk about them is fantastic.
i felt like jumping up and punching the roof with a HELL YEAH! ... This is so on the point.
Great rant
I hope more people see this before censors get ahold of it. Especially younger folks who don't remember the internet before 2000's.
Eli Pariser proved it, 2011.... they definitely bury the best content makers of truth
It’s literally be shoved into my face for 3 weeks.
Educating yourself on history, critical thinking, and just plain smarts is the key
1:10 Uber used to be cheaper and pay more because of VC-Wallstreet funding not because it was better. You can’t force people to give it more money to burn on an unsustainable business model unfortunately
Damn. The emotional energy of a rant, with the persuasiveness of logic. Love this guy.
dude you are fucking amazing at speaking! very gripping. speaking all facts and i learned many things.
thank you for playing your part! let me know how to help or help me help us all
I'd read the presentation text on Cory's site, but *holy hell* the actual delivery is so much fun! I love this man too much!
Concentration of power corrupts absolutely, no matter what economic system you have
Thank you. Finally someone who got to the crux of the problem!
Corruption resulting from the love of money is better contained by capitalism than by communism. But even capitalism is as strong as its weakest link, and that is the self-centeredness of fallen man.
@@mk71b except the fact that communism just makes less people wealthy… and by its nature concentrates power into the hands of bureaucrats without the possibility of anything coming to replace it outside a collapse of the system.
