    I’m the first round we discussed salary because I’m currently in sales with base + commissions. But this company doesn’t do commission. They knew this and we briefly discussed salary range for this role. I’m kicking myself right now hoping I was clear with what I would need to accept. Hopefully, it all works out if an offer is made and I feel the need to counter. Thanks for sharing how to do this well! Such a relief.

    Tip 4: oh no I said it first. T.T But I gave a range from 14 to 16 mil. Then 4 days later they called and said congratulate and offer me a gross salary of 10mil with full health care
    I plan to negotiate through email tomorrow with the fixed gross of 12 mil. Wish me success
    (But honestley I wish I know this tip better. Like I know I should ask about the budget for this role but idk why at that moment I said it 😭😭)

    Hi Ben. first, thank you for this great content and advice.
    My question is in regards to point 2, quantify your contribution. In my roles in the government, we deal with programs and portfolios with annual spends in the hundreds of millions and asset valuations in the billions. In these scenarios, even a 10% improvement could be measured in values that exceed annual revenue streams for some companies. How do you translate those types of numbers to something that would resonate with potential employers?

    I'll definitely rewatch this one. But what's the significance of saying "money is not the biggest thing to me now"? For me it is! Although I also have the experience and education. Can I just leave that part out and say "commensurate with education/experience"?

    • @BenTalksTalent
      @BenTalksTalent  ปีที่แล้ว

      You sure can. The reason I include that is that some hiring managers are turned off when candidates are money motivated. Not saying it’s fair but some just are. You can still negotiate though.

    Hi Ben. What is your advice about online job applications requiring a minimum salary?

    • @BenTalksTalent
      @BenTalksTalent  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi J! Not a huge fan of them when I am a candidate but when you are interested in a job, what choice do you have? It’s a tough situation because you don’t want to leave money on the table and you don’t want to price yourself. However, you can always give them a different number later and says it’s because you learned more about the requirements of a role or there is a difference in cost of benefits!
      Thank you for watching and for your comment!

    I have a serious question: Are 3rd party recruiters incentivized either (i) by fee structure; or (ii) industry capital to get a candidate to accept the lowest possible salary offer? For example if a range of 100-116k was discussed, does the 3rd party recruiter earn more if you accept an offer at 100k as opposed to one at 116k? Obviously I know the recruiter needs you to accept the offer in order to get paid of course but just trying to see if they have any financial or other benefit to themselves if a candidate accepts at a lower salary????

    • @BenTalksTalent
      @BenTalksTalent  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is a great question but it’s highly nuanced, I’ll make a video on it. However, I have never seen a direct financial incentive to get a candidate to accept a lower offer. It could equate to relational equity however.

    If an employer gives you an offer that is exactly the salary you asked for initially, but you learn that their benefits are very weak would you say there is still room for negotiation despite them offering the exact salary you requested?

    • @BenTalksTalent
      @BenTalksTalent  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. That’s a reasonable thing to ask for when there is a considerable difference in the amounts. In that case I would just be honest with them and share your calculations. I have seen companies change their offers many times in those cases.

    I was offered a seasonal position as a specialist at apple, can I negotiate my pay being this is a temporary contract?

    • @BenTalksTalent
      @BenTalksTalent  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That might be a bit tough. Often times for those roles the salaries are pretty defined. However, you can always try to counter, just follow the steps in the video and make it reasonable. Caution though, if they have many applicants, which they likely do, they could potentially withdraw the offer and go with a less expensive candidate. So keep that in mind.
