I went for a job interview recently and used the "too premature to discuss the salary," phrase when asked for the expected. They asked for what I drew as my last one.
I felt over-prepared and confident after watching all your videos from 3 years ago twice. My heartfelt gratitude for your effortful pearls of wisdom.
I also observed your cool mannerisms, choice of vocabulary and style of delivery and took a few notes. Thank you once again.

@@ajsuraj Thanks for asking. They insisted that I share a range, if not reveal the exact amount. I did, they said they'd be interested in discussing another project they have in mind besides the current position on offer.

I have an offer with me right now, your MAN, Negotiation, Dodge Numbers/Range, etc. all tips helped me to get it. They offered me below average but I kept the fear aside and asked for more, then kept my nerve for 11 days to hear from them, silence from both ends... And then they called me and offered me around the MAN, less then MAN actually but almost around my actual number.
I'm happy that I asked, otherwise I would have definitely missed it. Also, I said them I don't wanna accept until the compensation is clear, otherwise it would be undesirable and bad to negotiate after accepting the offer.
    POWER to you...
One bad thing, they first asked me to show some proof to back my asking numbers! That was lame, how can I bring proof, who shares their compensation breakup, gave them some insights from Google, but they were not that great... 😕
It is my first switch. Thanks for the meaningful videos... ✌🏻

Is it fair to ask what the approved salary range is after you’ve already received an offer?
I had a conversation with a hiring manager from a company. It was more conversation and less interview. We never talked about possible positions so I never asked about salary range, etc. I received an offer a couple days later. So there is an offered salary but I have no clue what they’re approved range is.

Is it too late to negotiate details when they have sent contract with 5 days deadline on it. Before that we just discussed salary of X$ per year.
After reading the contract there is no mention of bonus, payrise, overtime,.
There is also a generic term like you may work extra hours but wont be compensated as this isincluded in your salary. Minor issue for me bt some employers take advantage if this.
Just looking for advice in this area. Tks
    there is no mention of
    bonus
    salary review
    parking allowance
Is it worth asking for these in the contract offer stage of negotiations or is it too late.

I have the two offer situation. The second offer i got only a week before joining.
I reached out to first one and tried to have them match the second offer because I genuinely want to join the first one. Not ideal. I know. But it happened even if I didn’t intend.
The first company said they will not be able to accommodate this request.
I am ok if they keep the same offer.
I feel bad bringing this up to first company and it feels now kinda of a sour experience.
Should I still join the first one after this conversations or just skip to second because i may have ruined the onboarding experience with first one and might have consequences later down the line?

this is the first round of interviews, and after watching this clip what I understood is that, let them initiate first and decide then I will come to a number...is this right path...?

Unfortunately, the budgets are too low and I am not sure if they are going to get back or match our expectations.

What if the offer letter comes via email? Should I reach out to the HR person or the hiring manager to discuss the salary or should I send them an email?

I would prefer a call however in case you don't have their contacts then you have no choice but to send an email.

I have seen less qualified women being propped up and work of their colleagues is credited to them to support it.

    Hello Ms. Bahl,
I have been watching your career videos and I have a question on how to answer this particular question regarding salaries.
I am expecting something between 60 to 70k salary as an Event Manager in Goa, but the interviewer says that this is not the pay scale for Goa. And salaries paid in Goa are much lower.
However the standard of living in Goa is really high. Everything here is so expensive.
Please help me to give an appropriate response.
    Looking forward. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, you will be paid as per the level of the role and market standards for the same, in the type of industry (I guess Hotel/Tourism in your case). Get more experience, grow in your career and you should see the salary going up eventually.
