First time I’ve ever had a company say that you can install it in 30 minutes or less and I actually was able to install it in 30 minutes or less. This is a great product once installed too! Really like the app. I’m buying a second unit for my downstairs system as well.
I really love the battery operated aspect of it which is why I decided to switch from the Nest to the Sensi ST55, but the Wi-Fi keeps dropping off despite that it was never a problem with my Nest and the router is only a few feet away. I’ve had to reconnect it at least twice a day in the last two days since I installed this thermostat. Furthermore, the app does not sometimes reflect what is actually going on at the thermostat itself, for example, it may be cooling, but the app looks like the thermostat is not doing anything and on standby. I hope Sensi somehow improves / updates this and I’d be all set.
Nice explanation, but I wish you give more info about setting heat-pump and emergency/suxiliary electric furnace automatic change below a certain degree.
Turns out, they're not THAT smart... what they don't tell you is there is no way to adjust the AUX heat threshold, it's completely based on the algorithm. I found this out when my HVAC contractor came out to look at mine and figure out why the AUX heat was coming on way more than it should. They basically showed me a tip that disables the AUX heat which I've done during the warmer months. I want an Ecobee
@@user-ch9he1my4k Not that smart, you aure are true. We had our HVAC contractor install a device on the thermopomp so that when too cold, the Aux start... It sure was complicated. My second choice was Honeywell Wireless WiFi Thermostat,7 which is Programmable (for Aux temperuature setting).... But as the other one was installed and working I leaved it like. It is pretty thought. Sensi service and help are non existing and pointless, if wver you contact them.
@@AmandaBillows So I've never had any problems with their service and I like the thermostat, but its fatal flaw s that it doesn't allow AUX heat adjustments so it can run very unnecessarily. I have a Ducane LYNX 18 Seer and there's no reason the algorithm should allow the aux heat to turn on when it's 40+ degrees outside...
My experience with these is your better off with a C wire. Yes, they will work without the C wire but they will be running completely on battery power and the batteries only last about 4 or so months in this configuration. Might be fine if you only have one thermostat but multiple ones...... you will be changing lots of batteries. As far as I know there are no other smart thermostats that run without a C wire, so this thermostat at least gives you the option, just be informed on the battery usage. As an electrician, I have put many of these in and I recommend them to people looking for a good, simple, smart thermostat. Elderly people love them as they can still be used like and old school thermostat if need be and are easy to understand.
I am not sure why you would have to change your batteries so often. I do not use a C wire on my two units and the AA Alkaline batteries last more than two years. Great thermostat.
We still weren't able to either press the connect button or if we were able to get "connected", we'd always get "Can't create secure connection" We fixed it and was able to complete the whole setup by turning off our VPN on our android phone (we had express VPN) and changing our location on the phone to "allowed all the time".
Thank you so much for this information. I tried connecting this thing to the internet for years! Your explanation enabled me to connect to wifi. How hard would it be for Sensi to say disable VPN to connect? Anyways, thank you again.
In the app, when selecting which wires my existing thermostat has, it has a red wire going to the Rh terminal, but the Rh and Rc have a blue jumper connecting them. You say in the video to not worry about a jumper. So, in the app, should I select that I have R or Rh? Also, can I use a C wire in addition to the batteries to power the Sensei so I won't have to worry about replacing the batteries (like if they go dead while I'm gone on vacation)? If I do use the C wire, do I still have to install batteries and replace them when they go dead?
I am looking for a smart thermostat for an airbnb property (heating only as no a/c) . I need it to have the function where the ONLY function that the guests can access is turning the heat off or boosting it incrementally for up to say 6 hours maximum. I need it so that guests are unable to override this setting. Does this or any other thermostat have this available in the settings ? thanks !
mine works when not connected to wifi by just using the touchscreen. you may need to connect it to the app during setup, but you don't have to use the app to adjust the temp
Can anyone tell me if you can use this for a boiler with baseboard heat and AC? The box says in tiny letters, it does not work with baseboard heat. I have had experts help me and could not answer that question. Baseboard heat could mean electric baseboard heat, but they don't specify
I installed a Sensi Smart Thermostat, I really liked it until the app stopped working requiring that I pay a monthly subscription. I guess I am back to google home....
This shit better cover the jumper... it doesn't. My AC compressor is coming on with the heat which it shouldn't and I need to know if this includes a jumper or if there's something I can configure from the app.
According to the manual the jumper is built in. On the back of the unit you can clip the jumper if needed for your application. You can briefly see the jumpers in this video at about 2:42
Does not work with heat pump Rc Rh G O Y unless you add C wire. Ran four other tstats on system that were smarter that did not need more wiring. Not a truly battery operated tstat by its advertising.

@@Brookside975 That has not been my experience with these, but every set up is different I guess.
you are spot on about the battery life with all that it needs to do. Only 26 days and battery down a bar. Will have to watch it more closely.

I have 2 wires, they are for the cut in and cut out. thermostat. how do I hook that up?
There is no "connect" option by the mode button. How do I make it appear to go through with the wifi setup?
I have the same problem lol
I there a video of the installation if you have a separate gas boiler(heat) and a furnace for Hvac?
Hmmmm..... my furnace is an oil burning Miller forced hot air. Would that be the third option?
Is there a way to hard wire the power to the unit ? Because running on batties only is dog crap and only lasts for a month

What do I do with the black & brown wire labeled S & S from my Honeywell thermostat?
How about S1 and S2 for heat pump sensor, where do I connect them?
I have the same question. What did you find out? It's a black and brown wire under S & S.
I get confused with the wires. Mine only has 4 wires ? Red yellow dark green white ?
Thanks for the info 👍🏻
Why when i running fan on , the compressor star ?

If you have a boiler and you don’t see very thick wires when you take off the boiler you should be good
IF I TURN OFF HOME WIFI WHILE OUT ON VACATION WILL FURNACE STILL RUN AT LOW TEMPERATURE IF WIFI OFF IN HOUSE
hi does working on Daykin ac slit thank
Can’t figure out the c-wire and where it goes
How can I adjust time on thermostat?
You shouldn't need to adjust time after the device connects to your home WIFI.

This junk is advertised as Apple HomeKit compatible, but won’t even show up in the setup
I thought if you have C-wire, the device doesn't need batteries. /shrugs
And Emerson Tech just told me that the batteries are only there as a backup. I was under the impression that I did not need a C wire. Anyone know?
I CAn't find the app on my IPHONE
Did you try Play Store? You probably have this already done, but I thought I would try as I had the same problems
