  • Tony Banks' ARP Pro solo.
    This one was intended to be played on electric guitar which would have made the tapping more audible but I didn't have any at the moment. The tapping section is an approximation for guitar of what Tony plays. I've taken some liberties with the backing track as you could be able to listen later on.

      Adore this track. A local TV spot for olive oil in Italy made the same with Firth of Fifth. This would make a good arrangement for solo Robert Plant.

    Hey, I had forgotten about this brilliant part of Side 4, Alex! Bloody amazing that you even worked this one out, never mind play it all on acoustic. Tony Banks loved his 9/8 and 5/4 signatures for sure. Fantastic work.
    There's a nice symmetry in the fact that you used the technique that Steve Hackett invented to play the Tony Banks synth part......
    You might as well just carry on and complete the entire acoustic guitar version of The Lamb, as you're nearly there now , really ;o)
    Cheers,
    Jim

    • @hyperboreal
      @hyperboreal  10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thanks Jim. That's a curious simmetry indeed. I had been wondering how this one could be done on guitar and came up to the conclusion that using tapping had to be the only way to get through that tricky part in the beginning.
      About doing the whole Lamb in acoustic guitar that sounds like a crazy interesting challenge. I would be in need of a lot of patience, vitamins and a few camera batteries though. For the moment I'm focused in one song at a time. Cheers!

    • @RamessesIX

      Jon Anderson and Roine Stolt did their collaboration totally via internet. Not saying that theirs is a wonderful piece, but the option for generating more interactive work is facilitated by tech innovation. Yes did a live electronically delivered concert from a small venue cast to small theaters around the country about 14 years ago. I do notice that you seem a bit shy of pouring a lot of emotion into those notes that have such in the original. That is totally understandable for such a mentally advanced artist, as it is an exertion for someone who has not done a lot of public appearances.

    Congratulation. This guitar version is a great work. It´s no easy to make a transcripton to guitar from a keyboard solo. I love it. Sorry for muy bad english.
    Enhorabuena, has hecho un trabajo perfecto, porque realizar una versión para la guitarra de un solo de teclado de este tipo , y que salga con ese gusto, musicalidad y eficacia no es fácil ni corriente. Gracias de parte de un guitarrista admirador de la música de Genesis, y del trabajo del teclista Tony Banks.

      Hacer versiones desde un instrumento a otro (o transcripciones como se usa en el argot del conservatorio) no es una excentricidad, sino que es una muestra de capacidad de un músico instrumentista de mostrar las posibilidades de su instrumento, y por tanto lo engrandece y dignifica. Y aun más en el caso de pasar del teclado a la guitarra. Mi enhorabuena otra vez. Un saludo
