  • A reading of the beginnings of the Chinese Orthodox Church including those martyred by the Boxer Rebellion in 1900. Fr. Mitrofan, the first native Chinese Orthodox priest, along with his family and many others, suffered martyrdom and now intercede for the people of China and the whole world. May we all meet death with such courage.
This reading is from Christ the Eternal Tao by Hieromonk Damascene. You can purchase the book here: www.sainthermanmonastery.com/C...
The Akathist hymn to these Chinese Martyrs can be found here: www.asna.ca/resources/akathist...
This channel is dedicated to sharing the prayers, hymns, teachings, and service texts of the Eastern Orthodox Church. Glory to Jesus Christ!

May the Lord restore that which the barbarians have destroyed, and let the light of Orthodoxy shine over those lands once again!

The sad part is, Chinese Orthodox Christians had culturally, historically, politically little to do with those Western intrusions. Even the religious spirit is different for a significant part.

This whole affair is one of my favorite, and I believe one of the most clear and obvious, stories of God’s judgement on the unrighteous and the evil. China as a nation turned towards darkness and so God handed over large portions of their land to foreigners and left them with a severe drought also. The Chinese instead of repenting, doubled down, continued to engage in their paganism and their demonic actions and so God gave them over completely to their wicked blindness and so they lost all restraint and gave up wisdom and attacked the 11 strongest nations in the world, and God brought these to bear in their justified and righteous anger against China and gave them absolute victory over China. The boxers and their “gods” were humiliated, the Chinese monarchy was forever destroyed, and they were more than ever under the boot of the foreigners they had so hated. It’s a cautionary tale that unfortunately many nations will not heed. Nor will they see it for what it is. It will almost surely happen again.
    Vengeance belongs to the Lord

Wow the very first sentence is wrong. Christianity was first brought to China by the Church of the East who coincidentally also brought christianity to India(the myth of Thomas coming to India is most likely false).

‘Church of the East’ is Nestorian. We don’t consider them to be Orthodox Christians, they aren’t part of our communion. So it’s factually correct
