Part of the problem with these 'geek hobby' players is that they're always so hung up on min-maxing the cost to value of their collections. So many people completely ignore the fact that demand is also required. People bought in on hype and trying to maximize the resell on their collection instead of just trying to enjoy and play the game. Now that the prices are leveling out to the demand of people ACTUALLY trying to play the game, people are butthurt and think that the game is dying. Play games that you enjoy playing, don't invest in games because you want to be the ultimate reseller. It's words to live by, and it's why I'm not one of these people crying in the marketplace

I know right I just found out about the game just saw this random box of a fun looking artstyle and damn I am very pleased with the gameplay I love it so much! So I will be happely playing this game like it is intended to be played.. instead of being like in pokemon an investment for 90% of the people buying their products
MetaZoo customer relations is quite poor. Mike should have never been dealing with customer complaints. His skin is too thin to do customer service effectively. Mike pushed a lot of people away.
I heard I join discord there rules but there more layback cause u can tell u can break them but there afraid to ban anyone cause well thats another customer that could spend extra $200 a year like if you buy like 2 spell books that's 100 and if u buy the big box 200 plus
It must be difficult to be that sensitive and poor your heart and soul into something, then be forced to deal with such criticism... Some of it was deserved, but much of it wasn't... Mike, at this point in his life, isn't cut out for that kind of role. I'm sure he's learning from it and growing as a result. He's a human, I think, just like me and probably you.

They overprinted their new releases , nuked CN2 which was unnecessary to have in the first place, they increased their MSRP to compete with Pokémon. Now they are facing an identity crisis by partnering with Hello Kitty? They tried to do to much to fast instead of getting 1 thing right and doing that really well.
Metazoo was a giant pump and dump when it started. Over 3 years ago a PSA 10 moth man 1st edition was going for 1500. Now they are going to for 450 dollars. Mike didn’t help his own game with his attitude and unable to take criticism. People have moved on to other TCGs such as Lorcana.
Yeah... They've been tanking pretty hard. One of the best things you can do is TAKE criticism and improve. If you can't than there will never be improvement
Just picked up a pack at a flea market for $3 because it reminds me of Pokemon back when I was a kid when it first came out. Is there a list of cards for collectors? I mostly collect cards instead of playing the game

Almost everybody hates there art style, just about every LGS store i know of dropped metazoo and doesnt deal with them anymore.. and look at the prices of booster boxes rn, they are steadily declining. Plus nobody really likes the owner and how this game is ran.. i dont have hope

Lillie is definitely one of my favorite artists. Sebastian Botello, Kris Kampmann being another couple. They really stepped it up in Native with some beautiful artwork. It's actually the first set I'm completing. I just see it as a fun hobby now. I have my adult investments in stocks. Currently, finding quite a few people in Ohio to play with.

Let's see how far they can take it before it ultimately implodes and collapses on itself. I mean the box prices are showing an indication of the interest in the long run. I've seen a bunch of KS and new games come out this year and even the upcoming Lorcana game from Disney and I can tell you from seeing all these games, metazoo art is CRAP! I'm not even going to discuss the card design. People need to wake up and realize this.
Metazoo prices will fall more, people will soon learn, if they want to sell product going cheaper than your competition is the right play. Can still make some money, but it's not going to be skyhigh like it was.
I think people are trying to look at it like Pokemon. It will never be Pokemon. Pokemon had and still has so much going for it. The red and blue games and the anime. The subculture that evolved around it. The reason why Pokemon blasted off like the speed of light ✨️ lol is because of the power of nostalgia and the kids who grew up with it and are adults now buying back their memories. Metazoo does not have that. The audience for Metazoo are those same collectors mostly hoping to recapture a chance they missed as a kid. Metazoo will only be as popular as the player base. I do not think Metazoo is a good investment. People need to treat it like the game it is and enjoy the game. I personally don't care for Metazoo much anymore. I liked the idea surrounding it but Mike acts like a child and will talk about his customers in the discord and its just petty. I think if Metazoo is to become anything , it will need to start with Mike. It also doesn't help that most of his artists left.
MetaZoo is a bad product. The problem is a bunch of middle aged men do not understand that Pokemon has a rich long history based off of TV, video games, and media. MetaZoo has none of this and the game is not particularly good either. As far as I can see it really has nothing going for it. Everyone is worrying about the value dropping because they are only buying it as an investment..
Too much supply for current demand. All new companies have issues to work through. With what this company has done already along with its Future Vision I don't understand how anyone can see it's dead if you look at it comprehensively. Hate to have so many people lose out on shortsightedness but it is what it is

In regards to what Metazoo can improve. Mike has definitely put a PR person in place on the discord so he did a smart thing there. The artwork needs to continue to be refined with sharp lines, good shadowing and overall aesthetically pleasing. Lastly, the same way that magic revised their cards early on, Metazoo needs to fix the card format. It is way too busy. The fourth wall effects take up way too much of the text box and it just needs to be simplified. I really think all of those things are going to be addressed in the next year or so as they shift their focus to younger players.
Love the insight. Another thing I forgot to mention was I don't like the convolution. Alot of people I've talked to seems to think with the amount of promos and Collab etc etc is like a cash grab. I prefer them to be a bit more linear but that's just me

The Hello Kitty collab was a good idea to bring a huge established fan base to Metazoo, but all of the little pin club stuff, skateboards, etc. wasn't really bringing more eyeballs on it. Unfortunately, at that point everything was going up so I think a lot of people got burned on those little collabs. I still have two or three full sets of the first pin clubs, three of the skateboards, and they're just kind of sitting there 😕
