Hello I have a Andersen storm door the dead bolt locks perfectly for inside and out. But when I try to remove they key to lock the door it will not come out. Not getting the extra turn to release the key. Any ideas? Thanks.
Hello. My knob is no longer engaging the deadbolt. When I turn It just spins around and no longer pops the deadbolt in or out. How do I fix this issue?
@@stormdoorguy Luckily I was still under warranty so Anderson shipped the Assembly along with another door handle. I received them today and I got everything replaced. Works like new! Thanks again for your help!
Any recommendations if this doesn’t work? I’ve watched all the videos I can find and my deadbolt won’t budge. It worked when I moved in, but randomly stopped working.
I would remove the screw that holds the deadbolt lock in. Its just below the deadbolt itself and is about 1 1/2” long. Then slide the lock back and forth while turning it to see if its an alignment problem. If that doesnt fix it, loosen the screws above the door handle and below the deadbolt thumblock on the inside. Then see if you can move the whole handle assembly up or down. If that doesnt work, there are to silver screws above the door latch and below the deadbolt. Loosen those and see if the deadbolt works. If that all fails, probably an internal mechanism failure. Call andersen and have them send out a new door latch and lock body mechanism and handleset with deadbolt.
You’ll likely have to replace parts. You can try spraying wd 40 in the deadbolt, or remove the handle and coverplate to see if something is wrong, but thats abiout it. If you have a larson tradewinds, sometimes manufacturer overtightens the screws directly above the door latch and below the deadbolt. If you loosen those that may work.
Hello. How do I remove the lock? Not the handle but the lock itself? The situation is when I try to lock my door I find I can’t take the key out no matter how long/hard I try and NO, holding the little space where the lock turns doesn’t seem to work. Must be something lose on the deadbolt. I can unlock it and remove the key easy enough but locking it and trying to take the key out is proving to be impossible and what’s the use if you can’t lock the door? But again I just want to know how to take the lock out without removing the whole handle set. Thank you.
When the door is open, There's a screw directly below the deadbolt itself. Remove that screw, it's about 1-1.5" long. That's the only thing holding the deadbolt in.
I appreciate your video. So much more informative then Andersen video or instructions. One thing I noticed is you put the handle with spindle on the outside. Directions show handle with spindle going in on the inside of door. Probably doesn’t make a difference.
Great point! The handles are reversable. I like the curve facing up because that fits the natural curve of the hand. However, I did a door for an ADA compliance person who said the curve should be facing down. Bottom line: your roof ... your rules.

Other than the teeth on the key need to be pointing down on removal I have no idea. Sounds like possibly a defective lock.

You'll have to reorder a new door latch assembly and deadbolt from the factory. Something internally has broken and cannot be repaired.
@@stormdoorguy Thank You. I will get that ordered

@@stormdoorguy Thank you sir! I just want to be clear. The deadbolt part is the actual “lock” with the keyhole and everything, correct?
What is the best quality screen door that you recommend? Door faces northeast with a large covered porch
Larson Tradewinds if you want a hidden/roll screen, Andersen 4000 series if you want to change out glass/screen with the seasons.

No, it doesnt make a difference. I just prefer to have the curve of the handle pointing up so it matchre the natural curve of the hand.
