If you have lost your keys or the lock is not working, don't call a locksmith do this instead. Save your money and replace the cylinder lock yourself, it very cheap and easy to do it yourself. Thank you Bill! I used old steel guitar strings (the thinnest wound ones). This works well if the gap is FAR too narrow for any other tools. Thread it through to both sides and use "see saw" motions toward the cam. Whilst gripping it with two sets of pliers.

Suggestion, sometimes those locks get hard to close, you jiggle handle up and down a few times to get it to close and lock (the finger locking thingy, not key), if you come across one be great to see how to resolve it! :)

Is it going to function if we use a thin knife or a nail file?

What do you do when:
a) never had the keys;
b) door locked by the snib;
c) snib will no longer move therefore door is locked.
d) worked fine the day before.
The door (and snib) worked fine for 10+ years. Door is only used during warmer weather.
Any solutions?

If you don't have the key, drill through the cylinder (from 3mm to 6mm) then rotate with a flathead screwdriver. I've done this too many times.

Hi Bill, quick question, I've got a triple lock security door - I've managed to take the cylinder lock out, but for the life of me, I can't figure out why when I replace the cylinder lock, it won't lock the door? The old locks were working fine too, but even when I put these back in now they won't lock the door either when I turn the key. Is there some sort of 'trick' I need to be aware of with it being a triple lock security door (e.g. hold something down before putting in the lock etc)?

I don't have enough clearance. Any suggestions? I've drilled it already and all that's done is make it even worse. One side now spins freely (shit) and the other is stuck in position not moving just the tiniest bit... And now I'm desperately trying to find a solution but can't fit a shim. Great!

Those must really be low quality barrels. In my hand I have a EU made cylinder and that cam is solid. Must have a key to turn it out the way.

there are more than one type of euro cylinder. lazy cam and fixed cam.

So I took off handles and got lock out but I accidentally closed door and top deadbolt has locked my door 😭 is there a way to open it while closed
