Regarding the defense industrial base for ships, and someone who's worked in an adjacent field for 8 years, the main shortage we have isn't port infrastructure or high tech equipment, we're actually just short on skilled trades like welders and such. The quick and dirty solution in the event of a war would be to import a ton of welders from other countries.
Biden has sort of taken defense industrial base seriously. The IRA and CHIPS act are both fundamentally driving investment in defense-relevant manufacturing. Batteries are defense relevant!

Would love to see an episode on how Afghanistan could revitalize it's economy!

The West as a whole needs to rebuild its defence industrial base and Americans need to see their allies doing the same! Speaking as an ally (Aus). The West is twice the GDP of China-Russia-Iran-NK (CRINK?). It needs to behave like it. Maybe some new multilateral pan-democratic bodies are needed, for technological, industrial and military coord

An alliance with India. Wishful thinking. They are unaligned. Hard to imagine this ever ever happening.

I think you overestimate China’s ability to to sustain industrial production i foresee once it is effectively ostracized embargoed and blockaded its enormous capacity is brought to a grinding halt as it burns through resources and is unable to import others

On the topic of war industry. If it got to a point where the US is doing strategic bombing on china you can gaurentee china to be firing stuff back at the continental US and going after US military industries which would further degrade US military production.
And given that china already is leading the US in things like hypersonics and swarming drones, they could probably get stuff through quite easily. And thats BEFORE things go nuclear.
