Almost 50k for a 4 cylinder mustang convertible..........the world needs a reset.
The 0-60 makes up for it in my opinion. Don’t need a big ol V8 nowadays
@@ultimatewarrior1674 while that may be so, a 4 cylinder Mustang still shouldn't cost $50k
For $50k the convertible options should be the Mustang GT Premium or Camaro 2SS
@@ultimatewarrior1674 Whats the 0-60?
I believe he said 4.9 0-60 and 13.7 quarter mile at 98 mph
I appreciate that you do a review on a EcoBoost, not a GT as everyone else does. The EcoBoost is the way to go for the daily users!
Yeah, daily visits to the repair shop
I like your energy/enthusiasm in this review, even more than usual! Happy new year to you and Lori! Happy new year Steve!
It's still quicker than most v8s from the 80s and 90s.
It’s hard to believe that the words “value pricing” and nearly $50k are being used to describe a 4 cylinder Mustang. I miss the good old days where these cars were more accessible to the masses. I’m going to hold on to my 21 forever!
Of course you are right but people are buying these vehicles at these ridiculous prices. If people stopped paying these prices maybe the manufactures would price their products properly. The problem is that most people want all the latest gadgets and tech in the cars they buy and all of that drives the prices up substantially. They could manufacture stripped down trims but they would sell very few of those trim levels. Giving the people what they want=$$$
It’s a convertible! The coupe is $30-33
Coupe Base is best for budget -$30k
It wasn't any different last gen where Ford lets you order a base or order one with add every option possible
Just don't buy one that's fully loaded, or wait a few years to buy one used instead of taking that huge hit in depreciation.
@@kartofle123 I worked hard to get a car with all the high tech shit that is available
Fantastic stuff Joe! Great job! Great year! All the best to you and Lori. And I can’t forget Steven. Love the channel! Here’s to an even better 2024! Thanks for bringing it to us.
Seems fitting that at least one of the last videos of the year is about a Mustang.
🎉Happy New Year to you and yours, Joe!🎉
Miata...is always the answer. Great video and very nice stang!
Happy New Year, Joe! Can't for the California Special and the 60th Anniversary edition to come out next year, brother!
The way you smacked the antenna lmao 😂
Great review! Happy New Year, Joe and Lori! 🎉🎉
I like that this was a “think outside the box” kind of comparison.

We purchased a used 2020 Ecoboost Mustang Convertible last year and it’s been a fun car. At idle, the engine sounds like a sewing machine but there’s plenty of power when you step on the gas. We regularly get 28 MPG with a combination of city/highway driving. Fun car so far!
Thank you for always sharing the breath
Hey Raiti! Long time fan, I respect your work and opinion. Been waiting for a while to buy my "play car" [got to be a convertible]. I need your input please. Just watched your review of the 2024 Mustang, and while I've recently been obsessing between the BMW 430i vs. the Audi A5, I would consider the Stang too. Drove one a few years ago and was turned off by the cowl shake/flexing of the body. It's a real deal-breaker for me cause I'm used to Honda solidness. Considering those three choices which would you say 'brings it' in the solidness category? If I'm blow'n smoke you can tell me that too, I'm a big boy! Thanks!
Happy New Year Joe .Lori.. Steven .. Never was a Mustang 🐎 Guy until recently beside owning a dozen Crown Vics . But a change of heart because Ford has been in production every year unlike Chevy n Dodge with their muscle car coupe...And with the new upgrades n technology etc ..yeah the price is kinda steep being a 4 banger but hey ... Ur getting an iconic.. gas saving..great looking whip ..lets go Joe ..2024.🎉
Happy New Year!!
Miata for the win!
Totally agree with your suggestions about fog lamps and the antenna.
does anyone know if i could program the key so the top goes down when i turn it on or if there is a remote i could get for a 2007 ?
Does the Ecoboost also come with the option to put the 90s gauge cluster design
HEY JOE ~ just want to wish You, Lori, & Chris a Mega Happy New Year - I love ya brother, tony
Amazing review Joe.
if it were $30k , then it would be a no brainer. but $46k???? lol, no. Sucks that the convertible options for taller people are so limited. MX-5 not possible, and that really just leaves the mustang. Better to just get a used older model , especially since used prices are falling
Bro, you can’t buy a new Honda Civic with $30k these days. $50k for a sub 5 seconds sports convertible car sounds about right.
@@littledovecitydustyou can get a base model Miata for 30k....much better car for the money....AND THEY HAVE TO PAY A 2.5% tariff to import it!
@@fortheloveofnoise Nah Miata is overpriced too. A base ND use to be $25k.
I just might play Buddy Guy's cover version of "Mustang Sally" after this video, if I'm so inspired.

Thank You for all the wonderful Mustang reviews over the years. I have purchased 3 since watching your videos. you are the father of “the parts bin special”! You should get five cents every time someone says that😂
Aren’t you cute? That phrase (parts bin special) has been around for decades… certainly long before a Joe had a drivers license. 😂😂

No way 4.5sec 0-60. Maybe....with no one in the car, gutted, prepped track, and jesus at the wheel.😂😂
I wanna see a review of the crown vic in the background at the 5:53 mark lol
Another great review! 0-60 in 4.5 seconds is close to Mustang 5.0 territory! I'm taking the Mustang. Happy New Year's!
It’s kind of funny.. The Escalade V does 0-60 in about 4.2 seconds.. and yet it’s fast for both vehicles..
@@johncs154Your comparing to polar opposite vehicles. The performance Escalade V SUV uses a supercharged 6.2 V8 engine with 668 HP like found in the Black Wing to a small turbo charged 4 cylinder ecoboost Mustang with 315 horsepower. Before you mention weight difference. Cadillac built the Escalade V for performance. If it's important which is likely not the case for Escalade V owners that use premium fuel to fill it's 28.3 gallon tank has a Combined mpg of 13. The regular fuel EcoBoost convertible combined mpg is 26 and they both have comparable 0-60 performance.
@@DWH300 not sure why you typed all that 😂😂 I know exactly what I was comparing.. there are size and performance differences my point was just that they were similar in 0-60 times.. one is 50k and the other is 100k.. that’s a lot of money for a few less seconds 😂
@@johncs154 Because they are two completely different vehicles. If it's about 0-60 times, Money, handling and open air fun. I purchase the Mustang EcoBoost. If I wanted a luxury performance expensive land Yacht. I would go with the caddy. My point is no body is going to cross shop these two vehicles. This said. Your points taken regarding their 0-60 times being close
@@DWH300 My point was about the times alone.. Just crazy to think they'd be that close..
I'd say the Miata is more tossable than the Mustang. I've never driven a Miata but just based on the weights and dimensions of the cars, it seems logical to me. Maybe I'm wrong.
I believe the average median age for the Miata is 62. The Mustang 31. I also recommend if your 6'1" or taller. I found driving a friend's Miata. It was pretty snug especially with the top up. I see them as two completely different vehicles. IMO. I would go with the Mustang.
@@DWH300As someone who has owned two Mustangs and one Miata, I preferred the Miata. I am 6ft tall. I am also only 28.
Had a 2019 Ecoboost after owning a 93 NA Miata. Obviously not close to the same car, but after driving the mustang for a couple years I ended up selling it and getting a 99 NB Miata. The driver engagement in a Miata cannot be beat.
I enjoyed your honest review of the Mustang.Comparing with the Miata was odd as they are so small and the Mustang of course wins on space. The curvy design of the rear haunches however reminds me of the Miata.😊
Joe- at 2:23 you can see on the right side a tiny little light, in the upper corner of the grill. There's one on the opposite side too. Are THOSE fog lights? I haven't found anyone who knows what they are!
it’s a government regulated light due to the headlights not being the front most part of the car
I agree as that antenna is ridiculous. Does it have an 8 track or cassette tape in the radio!!!! 😂 Great review as always. Thanks Joe.

Great review Raiti! This Miata owner is likely switching to Mustang when the time comes. I need more room and comfort.
Oh wow! Thanks for sharing that ownership insight!
Looks and sounds kinda cheap... Last years Ecoboost looked better! And WOW, waaaay over priced!
I was expecting something completely different when you put your top down. I'm gonna have to zonk that.
Was that a cop that you passed at 16:30? 😂🤜🤛
Yes on the fog lamps.
You know, Joe, I really like the look of this redesigned Mustang. The interior layout is also appealing. The larger size of this convertible would attract me to it over the Miata. Nothing against the Miata, mine you.
Excellent points as usual David!
Price and quality work for Miata. Size is big advantage of mustang plus has more power too. Handling is better in Miata. Is it worth spending $10-$20 more for the Ecoboost? Test and compare the experience. I have a Miata A’s weekend toy and SUV as a daily. Ecoboost could be daily and cover both the fun of convertible and practical daily with mpg and space!
Doesn't the GT start at 43K?
Big feet big shoes 😂
Looks good
Wow it does sound a little better lol 😆
Beautiful, working hard to get one, a life car not price.
Kind of pricey @ $46k for the lower end and the Ford Ecoboost Turbo Charged engines do have issues especially if you aren't religious on oil changes. Yes the Mazda Miata is smaller but it is likely a bit more of a quick handling sports car feel that gives you some better driver engagement and could be more fun to drive on curvy twisty roads. Either one would be a fun to drive car.
?? I have an Ecoboost in my daily driver and it's running perfectly with regular oil changes within recommendations. Use a quality full synthetic and you are GTG.
@@302Mustang13 --- Yes there is always that one or two people that says their car runs fine and if you do oil and filter changes every 5,000 miles it can do ok long term but lots of owners run their oil for 7,000 to 10,000 miles or more miles and they run the Turbo Charger a lot and it burns/cokes up the oil and blocks the tiny little oil passages and they have Turbo Charger failures and some engine failures. Ford Ecoboosts are notorious for burning up Turbo Charger Bearings.
@@Bowhunters6go8xz6x Ford's turbochargers are from some of the same turbo manufacturers as other brands. Never heard of 5k miles being mandatory on a turbo engine except maybe Mazda or Hyundai. I would bet most people with turbo failures used conventional oil or went longer than one year. People that say 5k mile oil changes are essential have no idea how oil works. Heard too many times people saying I've had no problems cause I do 3k or 5k mile oil changes. Well, I've been doing longer intervals and had no issues either and I'm not wasting good oil.
@@302Mustang13 Nope, I never said it was mandatory but I will say it is SMART and so does Ford! Even Ford admits on the internet that they now advise car owners with the Ecoboost engine to change the oil every 5,000 miles even if the vehicle's oil reminder computer suggests otherwise. Ford knows that lots of Ecoboost engines and turbochargers have had oiling issues and even more so for the Ecoboost vehicles of owners that are not good at changing their oil. Going too long on oil changes almost always causes oil issues later in the cars life and ruins Turbochargers bearings and sometimes it limits or blocks oil going throughout the engine as the oil passages coke up with dry/burned oil coming from the turbocharger. Doing 5,000 mile oil and filter changes is (SMART) and it is a lot cheaper than a turbocharger or engine replacement and even Ford admits its especially smart for the Ford Ecoboost engines.
@@Bowhunters6go8xz6x Funny cause I've never received such a notice from Ford on my 2.0 Ecoboost. I have 43,000 miles on it and I'm about to do an oil change after 7,000 miles. I talked to AMSOIL rep about this and they said nonsense. Do an oil analysis is what they recommended for peace of mind and they are confident their oil will be within specs even on it being a turbo engine. That kind of confidence means something cause they would make more money selling me more oil by telling me the opposite.
"🎵Turn and face the strange ch-ch-changes! 🎵" - David Bowie. Well let's check this out.
Why dont they just put the 2.3 from the forus rs with 350 hp in the ecoboost mustang since they dont even make the focus rs anymore
I could never understand that!
Count me out on the little four cylinder thing and the ridiculous dash.
Both seem pretty sweet but I like the Mustang a lot more.
The price point on the GT needs to be kept in check...!!!
Just got back from the Florida Keys and I saw like a few hundred of these non-committal automatic S650 convertibles.
Oh I can just imagine.
Good review. Miata starts at $30k and I believe is much more reliable than the Mustang. But the Miata is very low and hard to exit. Also not much room. However the Mustang trunk looks chopped up space wise. Still considering the Mustang for our next car. Must be a convertible and auto trans is good.
Joe, the fake vents look good. Who wants to see a bland piece of gray metal? Happy New Years Eve!
My 2021 GT w/many Bells and Whistles cost the same........Lol😊
The manual transmission in the MX-5 Miata its a blast to drive. So light & nimble - that Mustang weighs 1500 pounds more - its a porker. Plus the top goes up & down in less time than the Mustang takes for just an up or just a down. Plus the MX-5 Miata is naturally aspirated 4 cylinder engine which means it will last longer because it runs cooler. Much cheaper than that ECO Boost turbo. The Miata is always the answer JOE !
it's fun to have a topless car..
I’m guessing that old style antenna is required to get the height needed for signal strength. If they integrate the antenna into that trunk puck, it would reduce the signal strength because it’s too low to the ground.
Actually I think the fastback has the FM antenna in the rear window. The pucks or fins are just for satellite radio. So with the top down, an antenna in the rear window would not work.
I’m probably in the minority but I don’t like the front end . Too angular. They did a good job with the back. And no 6 speed manual? In a mustang. 🤦♂️
Just FYI, Joe, that the 2.3 in this Mustang has ZERO relation outside of size to the old Mazda 2.3 or the old Mustang SVO 2.3
5:37 the antenna look's hideous (it's a 90's no no)...
That’s A nice Car
Priced to high for a 4 banger. All 4 bangers priced to high from all manufacturers
I think all cars are.
Nice looking car, great review. Not a fair comparison maybe, but: I bought a new 2001 Mustang GT Premium convertible for $23,000. Was a great deal at the time. It seems 20+ years later Ford has added an iPad to the dash, took away 4 cylinders, and pumps in "sound". Sigh..
I just realized that there aren’t any paddle shifters on this Mustang
Are we comparing pony-cars w roadsters now? Also, “backseats” is kinda a stretch. But I AM impressed W the under 5sec w that motor. Good sh-t.
Yah but if U boost up any V8 of any year old or new, it'll re-outcompete a lower displacement forced induction engine again, that's something nobody ever mentions or think about.. bigger is always going to be stronger faster and tougher...
i hate that ford dropped the heat extractors. my simple 19 ecoboost have them. the plain hood looks dumb.

They ruined it with those laptops on the dashboard, completely..
The old skool antenna is for indian buyers they love this thing ❤❤
Great review, but there is no chance I’m buying a 4cyl Mustang for $46K. The V8 sounds amazing and life is too short to get dumbed down versions of what you really want. 😎
This is so very true!
I saw a nice Darkhorse today. Those taillights and that weird concave rear end look hideous in person. Everything else looked amazing. Maybe it’ll grow on me……maybe.
I like Miata’s htc, over mustang
I don't get it why don't they make a manual transmission on that one if they have it on the GT V8 engine.
They did not sell many.
You gotta be pretty old to remember but this 2024 restyle mimics the '67 with the more open and angular grille, muscular body and the deeply inverted rear panel and taillamps. The new dash is controversial but does harken back to the much beloved Fox body dash design. The ecoboost engine is lighter and allows a better handling car than the GT. If you need to drive like a maniac, need to reach 100mph in a second quicker, have tens of thousands of dollars for sale price, insurance, tax and fuel then definitely get the GT -if only to prove your manhood to all within earshot with the "hey look at me" loud exhaust.
I am wanting to see someone do a manual swap for one of these.
That seems like a waste of resurces.
Ford missed an opportunity by not reviving the SVO nameplate for this Mustang. It would have been a nod to the past and definitely sounds better than “ecoboost mustang”.
Apples.and Oranges on this one Joseph. The Miata is an enthusiast drivers car and the Mustang is for running people over at a Cars and Coffee events.
You lost me at ecoboost lol
It’s not necessarily a bad power plant, they produce respectable horse power figures.
