I’ve owned my ‘19 GT350 for three years now and I still get excited when I get in it and listen to the cold start. It’s so fun to drive. I changed the shift knob, steering wheel (carbon fiber/leather) with a flat bottom and resonator delete. The Dark Horse looked interesting, but it’s a solid no for me, especially since I have extended warranty until 2029. The voodoo engine is just so special.
I’ve owned my 19 350 for 3 years now aswell. I’ve already decided it’s a forever car for me. I still get excited to drive it every time I get behind the wheel. Go like hell bro!
I bought a 2016 GT350 when it was only 1 yr. old. I'm now 76 yrs. old and she still makes me grin when I punch that start button. It's really hard to stay out of ticket territory in a car like this. I wouldn't trade it for a dark horse under any circumstances. I'm still looking for some tires that won't break the bank and will last more than 20,000 miles.
@bretthansen8166 I don't remember this video saying anything about camaros. But I'll play along. Gt350 is better on road or track than the zl1 1le. It's the stiffest car ever made. One rip to the mall and back and I needed back surgery. But by all means the camaro is much better...
I went with the Dark Horse mainly because I believe it to be the better and more modern daily vehicle as my sole car (minus the fiancé's grocery getter). The 350 is absolutely special, but the level of comfort in my DH, even with the HP, is the selling point. I'm in Tampa, so if you ever want to do content with both cars, let me know!
Yep as a daily cant beat that good ol coyote ,the coyote is like a stable wife the voodoo is like a impressionable gold digger gf fun to be with but requires all your attention
If youre buying a weekend car, 350 is the way to go 100%. If its your only car, 5.0 GT, Mach1, or DH is the way to go. Voodoo engine is just not reliable enough and much more expensive to operate that its just not worth it if youre sitting in traffic 75% of the time.
Shelby gt 350 is my pick. The new C8 Vette with flat-plane crankshaft engine doesn't sound like American V8. Ford did great job maintaining the American V8 sound with the flat-plane crankshaft engine. And I like the Shelby that has more buttons than the Dark Horse. The metal shift knob is going to be really hot during the strong sunshine days.
The C8 Z06 sounds AMAZING and they have the regular stingray if you want tht American V8 sound plus both versions shit on these fords with under 3 secs 0-60......
@Forever.Remain.Nameless What all I care is if it comes with a manual or not. If I want a car can do 0 to 60 under 3 second, I'd get Tesla S Plaid. Vettes are tricky to own because it has specific lifting procedures and tires and rims are easy to get destroyed. Regardless of how good a car is if it is not a manual transmission, I am not interested.
Traded a hell cat widebody in on brand new 19 gt350 best car I've ever driven and I'm an old codger I've driven a lot of cars. Puts a smile on my face everytime I get behind the wheel.

I'm a hugh fan of the GT350 Mustangs. I thought the Voodoo would continue in future performances Mustangs, but have you ever wondered why the Voodoo hasn't been used in other performance Mustangs or a GTD series Stangs or was ever offered as a crate engine. Could it be reliability? I believe Ford is offering to replace engines in the 2018 models that have engine issues. I'm not sure if other years are are included. The GT350 series are fantastic Mustangs but the Dark Horse with the new Gen 4 Coyote is also a fantastic and more refined Mustang tuned for a limit of 7500 RPMs likely due to government regulations. If you want a Dark Horse racecar. Order a Dark Horse R without a back seat. You'll be able to compete in the IMSA Dark Horse racing series but unfortunately not drive it on the streets. When tunes become available for the S650 Coyote. The new Coyote will likely be an 8000 + RPM engine without a speed limiter. The Coyote is known for handles boost without issues like the special built Coyote based engines that run in the Coyote class in the NHRA. You'll find turbo Coyote's making 6 second high revving wheel standing passes. No matter your choice. If your a fan of the Mustang. They're both fantastic Mustangs that offer V8 performance. Thanks Ford for keeping the V8 Mustang alive while continuing to improve and add new models to the Mustang. I'm anxiously waiting for the GTD to hit the track for it's performance numbers. Your a winner owning either Stang. I keep hearing about the lack of manual temp controls. Another Mustang U-tuber mentioned he uses voice command to manage this system without using his fingers.
I have a 16 with the technology package and Magna ride. You don’t need the handling package with the Magna ride. I test drove both 4 years ago when I purchased my car and it drove better as a daily driver than one with the handling package.
I prefer the 350R. I'm fine with the technology in the 350R. I prefer the older screen in my 2017 which is similar to the 350R. I actually would have the rear seat as I've used it on several occasions. Yes I have smaller friends who fit fine.
Seen the Darkhorse in person twice. People don't understand how upgraded the Mustang actually looks in person. Its a step up. The S650 is about to make 350R owners mad. Lol
The thing about technology is that in 5 or 6 years, that dash in the Dark Horse will be outdated, old, and slow, that's just the nature of how fast technology moves, just look at your phone, it was fast and wonderful when it was brand new, after 3 or 4 years, the operating system is slowing down, it's buggy, and slow, while the analog in the Shelby GT350R will be timeless, it doesn't need over the air updates, new operating system, etc... When Bugatti introduced the Chiron, as journalist asked the President of Bugatti, why they are still using an analog dash while everyone is going digital. He replied "well, take any bmw or mercedes you bought 10 years ago, the digital screen, the navigation, all the touchscreen, it was wonderful, fast, and responsive, but the problem with technology is that it's moving at lightning speed. Today, that 10 year old technology is outdated, so when we sat down with our engineers, we want our interior to be timeless, 10 years from now, 20, 30, 50, it's still timeless".
Your excitement is contagious Joe. From an early on subscriber, this is one of your best videos to date. Love the comparison idea…maybe something to incorporate from time to time?🏁👍
Great review, Joe! If I were in the market, and didn’t have a 16yo in the house, I would look for a 2019-20 GT350. I owned a 2016 when they first came out, but with tech package. Still, it was an awesome car.
2021 Mach 1 VS. 2024 Dark Horse would have been the better review. A Shelby GT350 is in a whole different league. I would sale my Mid 600RWHP 6 speed Supercharged 2020 GT for one and then boost that, but they are few and far between and the asking price for one is crazy.
Nope. The GT350 has the voodoo 5.2L flat plane crank engine, which was purpose built to be a track car. The Dark Horse is a different pony; not better, but no slouch either. Given a choice, I’d take a Mach 1.
He talks like there was a major difference between the R and the regular GT350, but in 2020 the only difference was CF rims, different spoiler, different x-pipe setup, different shock tuning, and a slight stiffer rear sway bar. In most driving situations you can’t tell the difference between them.
well to keep it real in reality we can't really go wrong with those 2 models . at the end of the day it comes down to preference & being pragmatic cars are like women, some like blonds some like red heads... @@fdangleshadang-a-lang7149
Thanks Joe! I always love your reviews of the Mustang vehicles. I have a 2018 GT350 and have enjoyed it thoroughly. Your reviews of the Acura TLX Type S also helped me decide on that vehicle for my daily vehicle. I'm partial to the GT350 and enjoy the analog gauges all day long over the digital. Stay On Throttle buddy!!!
I love all of your Mustang videos. I was part of the effort to convince Ford to let Walker Ford sell you a 350R. It was an exciting time. As you say there is a Mustang for everyone. My EcoBoost premium is right for me.
Gt350r is just better in every way in my opinion. Very nice car 👍🏻. Sounds phenomenal, looks better, handles better, and is faster. No brainer in my opinion. Great video.
@@leeallenbeal how so? The only thing it does better than the gt350r is stop and has creature comforts. Dark horse is down on power and weighs more and the steering doesn’t have any feedback like the 350r. For racing that makes it’s a no brainer.
I’m getting my gt350 delivered in a few days and I’m super excited I’ve been waiting years to save up for this beauty❤ thank you for the reviews you have done on this car it has helped me pick out the right one👍🏼
Have the black rear deck lid painted to match. Then get stripe package for top of trunk and apply to matching deck lid. Have your mirrors done too. Looks great on my car.
Pulley swapped 2016 vmp with the side exhaust. 6 speed with 20". Nitto 555rs, lol. Great in the rain though. Them 17" on a race star rim with Mickey Thompson will work good.
Thanks for this video. My budget is about 65k and this video helps make my decision more clearly. I was thinking on getting a gt premium and adding the whiple supercharger..but the tremec manual transmission only comes in the dark horse . At the end that voodoo engine is special along with the car . 👍🏼
Joe, Love your GT 350 R! It’s all about Power to Weight…For a handling car. The GT 350 R is like “The Elvis” of Car Business, you may try to copy or imitate it…but you won’t ever touch it, even with new technology!!! Great job, Steven… you rock the camera man!!!
Love the video's and reviews! Keep them coming! I ordered a Dark Horse and it was wrecked in shipping. Ford and dealership were shady though the process, so I have moved on. Maybe going to find a C8 now that the prices are falling significantly.
GT350 is an American masterpiece. I love anything mustang it’s an untouchable icon, but 2024 is by far my favorite year styling/quality wise. Being an owner of a 550 and now a 650. The overall quality of my 2024 is miles better. I’ve only owned ecoboost in both. Both fully loaded premiums but I never walk out to my car without a smile on my face. It may only have 4 cylinders and 315 ponies but it is an absolute blast to drive. A head turner at every light. Best purchase I’ve ever made. Thanks for your videos Joe been a fan for years!!
I felt the same about the aluminum dead pedal in my car, I bought and recommend you get a stick on one, it's made of aluminum and sticks right onto the dead pedal, makes it match the other pedals. mines been on it for years and still looks as good as the other pedals. Made by American Car Craft, stainless material brushed. Trust me on this, easy mod. I totally agree on the new Mustang screens, they ruin the interior.
I saw a GT350R heritage edition at C&C last weekend. Absolutely stunning spec. I know the Dark Horse is a better performance car, but there's no way in heck I'm taking one over a heritage edition GT350.
Joe, you did a really fantastic job on this comparison between GT350R and the Dark Horse. Both are really good cars. Each of us will have are own bias when it comes to choosing a car. Thanks for the perspective. Very worthwhile!
Not an apples to apples comparison. Really should have been the Dark Horse with handling pack to be fair. That said I’d take the Dark Horse. The Coyote is waaay more robust than the Voodoo and there is so much more you can do with it in the aftermarket than you can do (should do) with the GT-350 R. Plus it’s far more compliant as a daily driver. AND anyone that thinks it looks like a Camaro need to check themselves. The Dark Horse is ALL Mustang and it looks like one. In fact it gets its modern interpretation of its rear quarter panel design from the ‘69 Fastback. So let’s set the record straight, the Camaro looks like a Mustang!
Just watched the video, I have a 2020 Shelby GT350 and I just love the car. I bought it from a guy that wanted a 2023 Corvett instead, it had 5240 miles and always covered. came with the supper snake cover, and a small voodoo crank showpiece. I just love it... only a nice day car... Dark red with black stripes.
Joe, it’s glad to see your GT 350R remains stock, I feel like I was only owner of a Mustang without tints lol. I would do dark horse because used GT 350’s can be tricky. Plus used GT 350’s are insanely expensive.
Gt350 all day imo Too bad you can't get one under factory warranty anymore, and the engine is crazy expensive to rebuild or replace. The Darkhorse is nice but overpriced, especially with dealer ADM these days imo. The numb steering feel is a huge turn off. The screens don't bother me.
The only reason I’m choosing the Dark Horse because the interior it’s a new upgrade then any other mustang ever had. I feel like driving a BMW from the inside but hearing the American v8 from the outside sound gives you chills 😅😊
Love your reviews so much that your videos a few years back is what pushed me over the edge to buy a GT350. Picked up my 2020 GT350 Heritage Edition (chassis L0393) from Napa Ford in April 2021. It sat at the dealership since they ordered it in 2020. I live in Southern California and drove up north (with my trade-in) to pick it up. It was the BEST drive back to SOCAL along the PCH I ever did. 3 years later, I still love it and wouldn't trade it for anything else. 100% recommend a GT350 (R or non-R) over the new Mustang. Get 2019 or 2020, as the second gen 5.2L motor replaced the 2015-2018 powerplant. Then replace the stock air filter with a Ford Performance filter, install oil catch cans, and call it a day. If you get a non-R, the exhaust will be tamer as there are two resonators before reaching the mufflers (still sounds good, but not as loud as an R.) That's probably the only invasive modification I will do to mine. Keep the videos coming and when you're back in Cali, let us all know!
The GT350R Heritage all day long, especially if bought new (I know no longer possible). Personally I prefer to buy new, especially with a performance car. You don't know how a pervious owner took care of their car, what they did , what they didn't do, what they're hiding etc.. Both great cars the GT350R and the Dark Horse, but the GT350R is obviously more of a raw/analog sports car, will be more collectible vehicle over the long-haul. I like the more Camaro-like exterior styling and chassis improvements of the new S650 over the S550. However the digital dash wraparound flat screen cockpit, not for me. Too electric vehicle like for me. Always appreciate the honest reviews/comparisons.
The GT350R is my dream car 100%. I still haven't seen one in person I want to though I live here in Maine and I've never seen one but that dark horse ain't touching the 350R that ain't happening I believe the 350R has the voodoo engine high revving flat plane that's a nasty car I've seen people twin turbos pushing 1300 nasty great content my friend be safe much love and all the respect

Your excitement is contagious Joe. From an early on subscriber, this is one of your best videos to date. Love the comparison idea…maybe something to incorporate from time to time?🏁👍
Thanks for the feedback and being on this journey with me!
GT350r will be in my garage next to my 13’ Boss 302!
Great review, Joe! If I were in the market, and didn’t have a 16yo in the house, I would look for a 2019-20 GT350. I owned a 2016 when they first came out, but with tech package. Still, it was an awesome car.
Broooooo the Shelby is a badass 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Thanks brother!
I love your GT350R Joe!! Awesome car!! 👍🏻👍🏻
I really appreciate you saying that
Looks and performance and fun all go to the gt350
That is not a question, Shelby GT350R wins in all categories
But thanks for pointing it out
Great review, Joe! Definitely noticed the kid come out in you as you test drove both vehicles 😁
Hey Mr. Raiti! Have a great day! Best car reviewer on YT. Period
O can’t do it without you mike
The GT350R, Still sounds better, though the Dark Horse has a deeper sound.
Your Shelby wins
2021 Mach 1 VS. 2024 Dark Horse would have been the better review.
A Shelby GT350 is in a whole different league. I would sale my Mid 600RWHP 6 speed Supercharged 2020 GT for one and then boost that, but they are few and far between and the asking price for one is crazy.
I Prefer The Dark Horse Vs Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat
They’re not even close to being in the same classification.
I prefer the GT 350 but the ones I've found have engine modifications and to me that's a big problem when it comes to buy a pre owned car.
Ooh i do like the dash and gauges better on the Shelby!!!
the Shelby is more raw, thus more fun! imho.
2024 hands down! 2024 has newer better features such as the infotainment screens the white car kinda looks dated now..
You must not be a car guy
I appreciate your vote!
@@fdangleshadang-a-lang7149I see what you did tbere
well to keep it real in reality we can't really go wrong with those 2 models . at the end of the day it comes down to preference & being pragmatic cars are like women, some like blonds some like red heads... @@fdangleshadang-a-lang7149
@fdangleshadang-a-lang7149 your looking to buy a preformance car and you want tech? Lmao. OK guy! SMH
The plate on the GT350R is so perfectly a Joe thing, I give it a 10
Datk horse is just better in every way
@@leeallenbeal how so? The only thing it does better than the gt350r is stop and has creature comforts. Dark horse is down on power and weighs more and the steering doesn’t have any feedback like the 350r. For racing that makes it’s a no brainer.
The dark horse badge kinda looks like an Amazon Chinese belt buckle NGL
I’m getting my gt350 delivered in a few days and I’m super excited I’ve been waiting years to save up for this beauty❤ thank you for the reviews you have done on this car it has helped me pick out the right one👍🏼
Have the black rear deck lid painted to match. Then get stripe package for top of trunk and apply to matching deck lid. Have your mirrors done too. Looks great on my car.
Those are great suggestions.
There’s your Baby Joe! 🤙🤙😎🐍🐍🐍 I also have a Heritage “R”. No way would I trade for the DarkHorse!
Yes sir! I love her!
@@RaitisRidesI have a Heritage “R” as well. # 180. I know exactly how you feel! 🐍🐍🐍
@@RichGT350rgreat minds think a like
Pulley swapped 2016 vmp with the side exhaust.
Shelby. Shelby. Shelby. No comparison. I’d take the Shelby all day.
I'm a mustang guy but with the new redesign I'm thinking of going c8 instead. What do you think Joe c8 or dark horse
C8 Z51
Wow its been a while since a comparison! I’d take the dark horse cuz of the looks and real sporty dark look this is fire 🔥
I appreciate you enjoying this one!
Been waiting for this and as usual Joe didn’t disappoint. That sound in the GT350R is unmatched imo. Thanks Joe! ✌️
Good call Christen!
💯
Great job Joe. Love your videos, great attention to the details. The GT350r gets my vote. That sound is amazing!
350 FTW
Thanks for your vote!
2016 Mustang gt350 started at 49k, yep you heard that right, dark house 60.............something seriously wrong with car prices today.
Inflation. The gt350 cost 60k used today min 😅😅
Nice video Joe ,I have a 2022 dhelby gt 500 shadow black the best feature is lots of twinkie storage 😋😋
That is so very wonderful!
I like the different gauge options on the Dark Horse, my favorite being the Fox Body gauges!
I like the way that you think!
Joe, it’s glad to see your GT 350R remains stock, I feel like I was only owner of a Mustang without tints lol.
I would do dark horse because used GT 350’s can be tricky.
Plus used GT 350’s are insanely expensive.
I got my eye on a 2016 gt350 track pack … 12,000 miles mint condition and fair price …. Any thoughts if I should pass on this ???
Gt350 all day imo
Too bad you can't get one under factory warranty anymore, and the engine is crazy expensive to rebuild or replace.
The Darkhorse is nice but overpriced, especially with dealer ADM these days imo. The numb steering feel is a huge turn off. The screens don't bother me.
Gt350r is such a modern classic.
You are spot on that one
Great Comparison Joe ..
I’m liking the GT 350 but both are amazing cars.
The only reason I’m choosing the Dark Horse because the interior it’s a new upgrade then any other mustang ever had. I feel like driving a BMW from the inside but hearing the American v8 from the outside sound gives you chills 😅😊
The Dark Horse is basically an appearance package for the GT
The GT350 was *NOT* an appearance package for a GT, so already theres a big difference
Not even close the GT350! The sounds that come out of my GT350R are magical. Cannot wait for the Cobra and GTD.
love yurr reveiws mr.joe!!!!!always look 4wards 2 you getten 2the dead pedal on any car...ITS ALWAYS ..ZONKED!!!!!..hillarious.........
I would definitely pick the GT350. (Love that color Joe)
Vinyl stripes are a big zonk….
Trust me I Know
Gt350R best car Ford ever made and Ratti’s Heritage edition is the absolute!!! Best Ford Mustang that Ford has produced yet in my opinion
I solved it...!!! A GT350R and.... A automatic Dark Horse as my Daily. There it is Problem Solved 😅
Oops. Bolt on power adders including BBK headers. 265/285 Staggered rims/tires. Coil over suspension. And Roush hood scoop, sidde splitters. Gt 500 rear lower splitter. Convertible.
