  • Cab view of Tokyo's private railway, Keio Electric Railway Sagamihara Line, from Hashimoto Station to Chofu Station.
The Sagamihara Line was an improved branch line built to transport gravel collected from the banks of the Sagami River, and was extended to serve the residents of Tama New Town, a large residential area built in the hills of western Tokyo. It was extended to Hashimoto Station in 1990. The original plan was to extend the line further west from Hashimoto Station, but this plan was cancelled.
As an access route to Tama New Town, Odakyu Electric Railway has also extended its branch line, and the lines of both companies run parallel near Tama Center Station and Nagayama Station, and then split into two directions, each heading towards Shinjuku. Between Keio and Odakyu, Keio has more passengers, and this is because Keio Line trains run directly to Shinjuku, while Odakyu trains have to change trains once en route to Shinjuku. was. As a countermeasure to this problem, Odakyu has increased the number of trains that connect directly to Shinjuku, but it has not yet recovered from its inferiority.
The eastern part of Tokyo, where the city center is located, is flat, but the western part, which extends to neighboring Kanagawa Prefecture, is hilly. For this reason, the Keio Sagamihara Line also runs through a hilly area, and the track has ups and downs.
The Keio Line uses ATC, so there are no traffic lights on the ground, and there are no level crossings on the Sagamihara Line. The Keio Line uses 1372mm gauge.

    京王線は線路がきれいに見えて好きです。また窓もきれいで、気持ちがいい。この列車は少しだけ汚れていましたが。

Thank you my friend for another insightful and very cool video. Your content is always entertaining. The info in the description is always second to none so I never have to wonder if you put in the work getting these videos out. Thank you once again. Much love from NYC.

Thank you for your always heartfelt comments. It's encouraging to me. I don't think it was a struggle. Sure, it would be easier if I didn't write any explanations (^○^), but that would dilute the meaning of uploading the video. The various opinions of various people are my discoveries.

Thank you for another enjoyable train ride. I enjoy Japan trains because to me they are fascinating. I am fascinated by the train tracks and especially how the switches close and open. I also get a thrill when announcements are made in English (whenever available). That is very considerate of the operators of the line.

Thank you for your comment. This route was straight and had no railroad crossings, so it was refreshing to take pictures.

Boy, is this a busy line. I gathered that from how often you passed a train going the other way. This line must use "in cab" signals, since I didn't notice any lineside signals. Are they converting to "in cab," or is this line relatively new? I enjoy your videos almost as much for the lineside views as I do for the ride. Thanks for sharing these. 😅

Thank you for your comment. The Keio Line uses an ATC system, and speed instructions are displayed on the driver's cab. Sometimes you can hear a small "ding" sound, but that is the operating sound when the inside signal changes.

I recently came across your channel: the TH-cam algorithm did everything right again and suggested an interesting video to me 😄
Personally, I also find the background to the routes and companies in your description instructive: so everyone knows what this railway line is all about 👍
What I noticed in this video: the front window on the left seems to constantly vibrate and is a little annoying... It's not that bad, but I'm used to something different from the processing quality of Japanese technology... 😝😂
Is the window intended to be opened or is there perhaps some kind of door there so that a passage can be created when there are several units in the dome???
Many greetings from Germany, I will continue to follow your channel 🖖😊

      Thank you for your comment.
I know there are still some things I can improve on in my videos. I can only respond step by step, but please continue to support me.
This train has a door at the front in preparation for traveling through long underground sections. This is to allow passengers to escape in the event of a fire or other accident.
The front windows and side windows of the cabin are fixed, a choice that increases the operating efficiency of the air conditioner and extends the life of the rolling stock. Most of the railway cars built in Japan today are of this style. As a fan, it's a little boring.
If my answer doesn't make sense, please ask again. I will answer to the best of my knowledge (although I am not a professional).

@@14ikesan12 Your answer makes perfect sense, dear 14 Ikesan - thank you very much for that 🙏
I had already thought something similar: opening doors or windows can vibrate and make unpleasant sounds... it's not your fault 😊
And don't worry about it: I'm not a professional either, I'm only interested in railways as a private citizen!
My home region in southern Germany is very rural and our railway line runs through the so-called "Lovely Taubertal" through lots of lovely nature. It's all the more interesting to see how, in very densely populated areas in Japan, the train line winds through buildings that extend right up to the track... 🙄☺️
And please don't let my TH-cam nickname confuse you: I am male and have NOTHING to do with the American singer Wanda Jackson. Back then I just didn't know what name to give myself on TH-cam and then I noticed a CD box next to me with a cross-section of her musical work... 😉😄
Many greetings and a relaxing weekend, here in Europe we celebrate Easter - you probably won't have that, but in many Japanese regions the beautiful cherry tree blossoms... 🤗

@@wandajackson3410 Thank you for your kind reply. I always write about the same things, but I would like to create fun videos little by little, step by step. Thank you for your continued support.
I went to Nuremberg three times. Visit Toy Messe. On the way back, I went to Köln or Wuppertal. Rothenburg ob der Tauber was full of tourists.
I can't drink alcohol, so I can't enjoy German beer. Instead, I enjoyed German bread.

@@14ikesan12 Yes, there are some nice places in Germany… and Rothenburg ob der Tauber is not so far away from my hometown! „Tauber“ is the name of the river, and so the whole valley is named „Taubertal“ -> means „Tauber valley“ 😊
It doesn’t matter that you didn‘t taste german beer… so I wonder what would happen to me if I would drink sake… 🤔🥴😵😵‍💫
I‘ve not seen all of your videos, so it would be the best to start from your very first beginning of posting railway videos… 😄
      Best regards 🖖

Thank you for your comment. This line has several tunnels. Inside the tunnel, the faces of the passengers inside the cabin are reflected in the glass, so I omitted that part.
