Tell us what your plans are this Christmas!
Not much planned really, been a very tough few months for my family and I. But I will try to make things a little special in some ways. I wish you a wonderful Christmas and may God bless you all! 😘
Watching Christmas movies and shows with my bf in distance while i keep going to work. My family doesn't celebrate Christmas bc of my father. He is really antichrist and hates Christmas like Scrooge 🤣🤣😭😭😭
He is only loyal to Muslims and says that Christmas is only for Orthodox and Catholic people which i find it weird and have no nerves to argue with him and man i can't even believe why am I being so much detailed here! 😩😩😫😫
Being sick! Whole family came down with a bug a few days ago… luckily we got all the Christmas prep done early, lol
@@theonegoldengryphon shame, that's awful! Hope you all feel better soon!
I'm going to put on a panda onsey and exist in my room uninterrupted. I might game, I'll for sure read, I'll do a video call with my niece, then fall asleep. 🙂
I’m not even upset that you did a second reaction to this movie because honestly this movie is so good it deserves to be watched every year
😂😂
Hell, I usually watch it at least 2-3 times a year.
I just watched it yesterday.
I've been watching it every Christmas Eve since 2019. :)
I rewatched it 6 times in a row the first time lol
Fun fact:
Sergio Pablos, the creator and director of the movie, was an old disney animator that work in a feel films like Hunchback of Notre Dame and Hercules. He was also the character animator of Tantor the elephant from Tarzan and Dr. Dopler from Treasure Planet (you can even recognize on Jesper's shock and scared faces that remind of Dr. Dopler)
Of course he was!!! That’s why I love all those movies!
@@whitenoisereacts IN OTHER WORDS, YOU SHOULD CHECK THE WORKS OF ENRIQUE GATO, another prominent animator from spain
Animated in Madrid, but they traveled to the far north to find sámi people and properly represent them.
One thing I adore about this movie is how it's not, necessarily, Klaus that took the first move. In most Santa origin stories, Santa himself always takes the initiative to get the whole thing started. But while Klaus decided to deliver that first toy, it was Jesper who took the initiative to get the letters and delivery started. The message behind that is really meaningful, that it's the small kindness of ordinary people that can create the change that's needed. I watch this movie every Christmas, and I'm still a sobbing mess at the end of it.
Saami is an indigenous people living primarily in the North of the Scandinavian countries (Norway, Sweden, and Finland). Letters sent to Santa Claus in Europe gets sent to Finland, where he lives with the "elves", who are the people of the Saami =)
for anyone wondering what margu is saying:
Can I get a toy?
Could I also get one, please?
hello post man
Can you speak with me now, then?
I have waited for (so) long
Are you going to help me? Finally!
I don't think you understand me
you are a dummy
I would really like a toy
I like her, she's kind
I would like a sleigh, a biiig sleigh
He's a little bit of a dummy, right?
(Margu) - Mom, dad! He came, he came! (Father) - Oh, what a nice sleigh!
(Mother): It's cold, you should put on your hat. And don't sleigh too fast
This is how you sleigh
It was he who helped me
(Father) - We heard that you might need help
(Mother) - Thank you! You made her so happy
(Father) - On three! One, two, three!
Oh gosh, it barely fits (something) he is a big man
What is happening?
Jesper! Don't go, Jesper! Jesper, (I don't understand)
You know that I can't understand you yet, right?
(Man) - Good! That was the last present... be careful, be careful! Take it very slowly
(Woman) - Why are they here?
Awww!!! What language is it? This is super awesome
@@whitenoisereacts
The language that Margu speaks is Sami which is made up of a set of Uralic languages.
The Sami are a people of the northern part of the Scandinavian Peninsula and large parts of the Kola Peninsula and live in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Russia.
For the film, it had initially been proposed that this town speak English.
But they realized that it was better if they spoke in their native language.
I was delighted that you have reacted to this film again. For me it is already like a tradition to see it every year.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.💛💛
The fact that they got actual kid voice actors for the children was one of my favourite parts.
It makes the dialogue and characters sound so genuine.
It's the last line for me, full on ugly crying the first time. I love that y'all came back to this to share and that it's spreading around the reaction community because it was grossly underrated when it came out. I watched it for the first time last Christmas and only because my mom and sister bullied me into it; I would probably have never gotten to it on my own but it's now my favorite Christmas movie. Love the recognizing the voices and appreciation for the stunning art style; 2D animation is such a broad and effective tool and needs to not be thrown away just because CGI and 3D is getting easier and easier.
I watched it on a whim the year it came out, with my brother, and omg, no regrets. Fantastic film. Such a feel good movie.
Yeah NO ONE has seen it!!! It;s wild!!
“You are a grown man, please stop” 😂 so good! Can’t wait for It’s a Wonderful Life, love that movie
I chuckled at that too 😂😂😂
It was announced recently that Netflix cancelled the next upcoming film being done by Sergio Pablos (called Ember, which I think is focuses on prehistoric time and the discovery of fire) and I was DEVASTATED hearing that news because I've been so looking forward to more quality animations in this gorgeous animation style from them. Silver lining is it sounds like they are looking for other companies to take them on to finish it and I hope they succeed. Thanks for reacting to this again, it's such a great film I can watch it repeatedly and watch others react to it even more than once I will always give it a view. You notice more and more things about it every time you watch it.
Seriously, Netflix deserves all the crap they've been getting. They greenlight crap shows left and right and turn around and can anything that's actually popular and well done.
I've seen this movie a few times now, and every time, I know what's coming and yet....every time when Margu gets her sail/sled nearly breaks me, and then at the end when Jesper says "Once a year, I get to see my friend." that DOES break me every time. I love this movie.
I love everything about this movie, as a swede the inclusion of Samí (natives of the nordic countries/scandinavia) also makes it even greater. It's become a must watch for me every year now. 😍🎅🎄✨
Really would love to have Hailey and Stella get to do more Animated Reactions on the channel considering outside of their _Corpse Bride_ reaction and their participation in the group’s reaction to _Klaus_ I literally haven’t seen them react to any more animated films on the channel neither were they in the Animator Reacts videos. Now Granted, the Animator Reacts series is just primarily just James and Nobu doing the Animated movie reactions, but I wouldn’t mind if Hailey and Stella get to be in more group reactions outside of your Thursday group reactions such as your Animator Reacts or how about they do their own Animated movie reactions much like how they’ve been doing separate reactions on Saturdays to the various Horror and now Sci-Fi films that James and Nobu have already seen.
The animation is absolutely gorgeous, and compliments these delightful characters and amazing story perfectly!
fun fact: the lighting is actually not 3d, it's all 2d. they just use shapes that track with the motion of the character that allows them to create the illusion of lighting through their knowledge of how colors react to certain lighting. it's really fascinating to watch their process, which SPA studios posts a lot of
That’s even crazier honestly
I just realized that’s why he loves seeing kids happy. He never got his own
This is peak animation and many drawing styles are just old disney. I remeber when I first saw it, there was delbert from treasure planet, laberne from the hunchback of notredame, even lilo! I loved this mixed styles 😂😆😆😆😆
Funny story: For years, my friend and I have been developing a YA book series that we want to one day make an animated series out of. This is a fantasy story about magic coming from your shadow, see, and so one day I have this idea. If this is a story about shadows, we should use dynamic lighting. It was around 2016, I think, when the proof-of-concept teaser for this was released, and I instantly pointed to it and said, "This! This is what I was imagining!"
That’s awesome!!! Keep working on that my man!
Not a Christmas season goes by that I do not sit down and watch this beautiful 2D animated Christmas classic! I adore the art style, the characters, the fresh take on the Santa Claus legend, and the emotion of this film as well. Truly a fun, heartwarming film, 10/10!
You are so right about the "Emperor's New Groove" analogy! For the longest time I thought David Spade was the voice of Jesper before I knew it was Jason Schwartz.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing!!
I just watched it yesterday for the first time! It's honestly a masterpiece and has become my favorite animated Christmas movie. Also, I started to debate about the animation, whether it was 2D or 3D, literally my brain entered in conflict. I'm definitely recommending this movie to everyone I know 100%
I still cry everytime i hear that last line, I cant help it. Its an instant classic
This movie makes me feel so warm inside. The message is so sweet, and its an incredible story told by passionate, skilled people and it shows. I love that its so unabashedly joyful! A lot of stories nowadays seem embarrassed to genuinely care, like its not cool to be sincere. Klaus was a breath of fresh air.
The animation is so beautiful! I love the spin on the Santa Claus movie and how Santa came to be!! 🦋 it’s got it’s funny moments and it has it’s heartbreaking moments it’s just an enjoyable movie 🍿 😊
makes me tear up every single time. I'm so glad you watched it again. thank u!
This movie always make me cry and I love it 😂
This movie makes me weep!! Every time!!
I watch this every year ;___; and still cry everytime
This movie is absolutely perfection! Glad that you did a second time reaction to it. Wish you all would react to Pinocchio from Guillermo del Toro too, it’s a marvelous animation and I bet you guys would get emotional too hahah
Merry Christmas to all of you! I'm making my special tamales and we will watch this movie after dinner so that's the plan. Once again, a wholesome reaction, thank you!
Oh yum!! Sounds great
What a timing, I just watched it this afternoon! It's such a lovely movie
Isn’t it just the most wholesome?
@@whitenoisereactsthe next movie all of you must watch it's a christmas carol of 2009, the one made by Disney. It is probably among my favorite Christmas movies of all time because how accurate it is to the original book by Charles dickens.
This is 100% a new classic. My teens adore it and we've watched it every single year since it came out. We tell everyone we know about it. Watching it is a HAVE TO each December. The art and story and both amazing.
You may not know this but this was directed by Sergio Pablos one of the animators of Treasure Planet! You can actually see references of it from Jesper's appearance and Margu's sledge
Bro I absolutely love showing people this movie, and then it turns out to be one they love lol
That ferry man is the late, great, Norm MacDonald. I swear that either the writers had him in mind while writing those lines, or they had Norm write his own lines. A perfect fit.
When i showed this to my sister and brother in law, he said it looked like a storybook set to the screen. And i think thats the best way to describe this movie.
im so glad you guys did this again, I absolutely love when you four react together and this movie is totally worth a second look cause its so good. love you guys keep up the good work.
The Christmas Toy by Jim Henson (1986) is my favorite Christmas movie.
Stella saying that she always trust people with bird houses is sound logic
I feel like there are a lot of great stories out there (animated, live action, movies, etc.) who are a lot like Klaus that did amazing things that everyone tends to miss out on because they're overshadowed by, as Stella mentioned, stuff that's created as fodder for a demographic quick cash.
But thankfully even through the course of time these beautiful passion projects get around by word of mouth and become these amazing generational classics that outlive those transient projects that lack substance.
And I genuinely hope Klaus continues to find it's way into the lists of everyone's Holiday Musts.
I'm watching this sadly now with the knowledge that Netflix decided to put a stop to the director and the studio from making another movie they were planning on to do in 2023..
F*&k Netflix on that decision 🤬
How Toy Story 4 beat this at the Oscars is beyond comprehension.
I feel like this movie captures the beauty of Christmas! I'd put it on the level of A White Christmas and It's a Wonderful Life!
1000%
Great reaction. You guys have really settled into a natural fun dynamic. Really enjoying Stella's and Haley's commentary in this video and other uploads! Great decision to add them to the team! Keep it up guys and Merry Christmas!
Such a heartwarming Christmas movie.
Hayley!!! Your hair!!!! I love it!!!
Christmas movies are the best holiday movies to watch on Christmas.
Heck yes!!!
This shot to my top five favorite Christmas movies when I watched it in 2020. I watched it a few days ago and it sparked a good dose of Christmas spirit. I hope it did the same for you!
27:24 Oh my heart, the cuteness!
i love these Group reactions i have to say Stella is my favorite because Stella's Personality is so sweet and the best
Well that’s awesome to hear!! We gonna keep ‘em coming!
I wanted to watch this reaction so I went and watched Klaus for the first time today. Was so worth it! Great reactions as always! I loved the character development in this film and the animation was stunning
Thank you, you have now encouraged me to watch this and it will now be one of my traditional Christmas shows along with muppets Christmas carol, snow, The Guardians, and some of the claymations.
I'm thrilled you reacted to this movie again with the girls! This movie deserves ALL of the love. ❤️ Also, I agree this movie was ROBBED!
I would like to make a suggestion that is very near to my heart. It is not just one of my favorite Christmas movies, it is one of my favorite movies of all time period. ARTHUR CHRISTMAS.
I can not express how much I love the movie. At first glance, it looks like just another kids' Christmas movie, but the closer you look at the details and really pay attention to all the background details and character motivations it's so beautiful and well done. I always adore how they make sure that the faces aren't symmetrical; it's a detail that brings an incredible level of humanity to what is clearly cartoonish characters.
At it's heart it really is about a family that was hearing yet not listening to each other, taking care of the interpersonal relationships we take for granted, and coming to grips with what truly makes you happy instead of what is expected to make you content.
There is just something I find magical about it, and I hope you guys give it a chance.
Thank you so much for another FANTASTIC reaction. I can't wait to see your next one!
It's become one of our annual Christmas movies on rotation, every year since the year it came out.
[WARNING: a Scandinavian studies major is going to rant about the Saami people]
The Saami are the indigenous people of the Scandinavian Peninsula, and they live in th northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Finnland and Russia. The area they inhabit (which is also traditionally associated with Santa Claus) was historically known as Lapland, but that name is now considered offensive, and the area is instead referred to as Sápmi. The Saami languages (there are about a dozen of those) belong to the Finno-Ugric group, which means they are related to Finnish, Estonian and Hungarian.
my favorite Christmas movie. I cried the first time watching it but I cried twice as much the 2nd time. When you know the end you start seeing so much in the movie that makes you cry over and over throughout the whole thing. Amazing movie
Speaking of underrated works that are unique and full of "passion and heart," there are two things I would suggest to watch in the future if you liked the level of depth and consistency that this movie gave you; be it for this channel, White Noise ANIME React channel, or even on your own time.
The first is a childhood classic that I personally treasure from my time growing up watching countless Disney films called "Bedknobs & Broomsticks." (C. 1971)
To me it was one of the most iconic roles of the ever timeless Dame Angela Lansbury (peace to a true Legend), other than Mrs. Potts and the Grand Duchess from Anastasia.
In this film she plays a dauntless yet straight-laced Witch Apprentice (Eglantine Price) during the height of WWII in Great Britain. Although she is more determined to concentrate on her studies for a special and secret task, this is compromised when she is given a government notice that she must open her house to 3 orphan siblings as a safe haven, which puts her in a very awkward position of having to reveal her identity. Things eventually lead them to seek out her mentor who she kept in touch with, via postal service, and together they hope to unravel a mystery that could help them uncover a crucial spell that could change the tides of the war.
This movie was (and still is) constantly overshadowed by it's fellow Live Action-2D film of the same era, "Mary Poppins, " so not many people either know about it or watched it for themselves. But personally I have always leaned towards Bedknobs & Broomsticks for it's unique plot and (imo) a stronger cast with more chemistry and depth as the movie progresses; particularly for the core cast members who work as an ensemble as opposed to it being catered to a single character's influence/existence.
I'd say something like this would be quite fitting for Halloween or random day in fall, or if possible an anniversary celebrating the beloved Angela Lansbury as this was one of her most cherished roles that felt as liberating as her classical character (Jessica Fletcher) of "Murder She Wrote".
My second recommendation is an anime that is very dear to my heart, and that is one of the top tier legendary classics called "Gintama." (C.2006/2003)
Set in an alternate universe of the "Open Door Policy" of Edo Japan where the country was forced to allow powerful foreign nations into their land; except instead of Westerners it's Aliens from outer space. To show their act of surrender, the government mandated that all samurai are to give up the sword both literally and as a symbolic gesture of giving way to the changing times. Years later a young samurai boy (Shinpachi Shimura) struggling to meet ends meet to keep his fallen dojo around meets a strange silver-haired samurai (Gintoki Sakata) with a wooden sword. Even though many had thrown away their sword and will to fight, Shinpachi can't help but sense something special about this enigmatic young samurai and eventually decides to work under him as his apprentice; as well as a coworker to his freelance job "Odd Jobs (Yorozuya) Gin-chan". Together with a young girl (Kagura), who eventually joins them, they try to figure out their way of life as they live in this unusual world of traditional samurai meets sci-fi residence.
This one might be a bit tricky for a few reasons, other than copyright issues that you'll have to get around through some tricks.
One of the reasons is that Gintama is LONG. (roughly 367 episodes, not including the movies and some of the OVAs that are canon.)
Another reason (which many tend to emphasize when recommending it) is that it is mostly comedy, especially at the beginning. The first 2 seasons or so are mostly introductions to the characters (and there are A LOT of them) and the world they live in, and will feel more episodic than your average Shounen anime where you're mostly watching one offs of the characters' day-to-day lives.
And finally the third reason this series can be a bit tricky to work with is the comedy itself; which is a lot of parody and satire that tends to involve other anime series or pop culture references of Japan (and sometimes the West). You're not always going to get the jokes, and some might be a bit flat because of how old this series is.
But other than that I can definitely say this is an anime that had completely subverted ALL my expectations. It's incredibly ironic because Gintama was practically at the bottom of my list when I first watched it years ago, but once I'd caught up and finished it back in January 2021 (with the movie being the canonically final chapters) I can undoubtedly say that it is an absolute classic that was worth it all.
I don't think you will ever find an anime like this one, especially with how strict people in the manga business have become with new mangaka when it comes to freedom of experimenting; wanting either an exact copy of a "successful" series instead of something original, or completely cutting them cold turkey.
I honestly feel that if you give Gintama a chance you will not regret it by the time you're done. Of course you can always wait on the anime itself for the channel and first start with what many recent anime reactors have been using as a way to "sample " Gintama for both you and the other viewers;
1. All Gintama Openings 1-21 (spoiler free)
2. All Gintama Openings 1-30 (spoiler free)
3. 1 Second of Every Gintama Episode (spoiler free)
4. Top 10 Gintama Fights 60fps (spoilers)
You can make individual videos for these or just pick and choose which to you'd prefer. Either way I think you still end up having a great time.
Good to know, Santa Claus is a mystical Christmas force ghost
I’ve been waiting for this OMG
I do love Klaus, an amazing movie, but guys, you should check out Arthur Christmas if you've never seen it.
How did this lose the Oscar for Best Animated Picture to Toy Story 4, of all things?
Honestly, other than only two moments in the motion picture which I would change, it would be Aces, 10/10. As it stands, it is a hot 9.9/10
Omg! I am so glad you guys reacted to this again and seeing someone new loving it as much This is also my favorite christmas classic (as of 2019)
This movie basically does a reverse of the road to hell is paved with good intentions because all the good that happens to this town is all do to originally selfish intentions.
I can see - that many have explain were the Sami's come from.. Sami comes from a place call: Lappland (Lappland comes from a area - who goes from Sweden, Norway, Finland and Russia). Scandinavia is: Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The Nordic countries is: Scandinavien + Finland, Island, Faroe island + Greeland. I¨m from Denmark..... I love Klaus... I like the humor, satire.... I also cry - when they build the surfboard to the Sami girl and she ride it.
I see Lydia as the initial "Spirit of Christmas."
Margu's song, "Invisible" broke me the first time I heard it. The build up from writing her letter to the crescendo playing while she was enjoying her gift! I wanted to add it to my playlist but sadly no. 1... because the version on Spotify is a quicker tempo song (it doesn't have the same impact) and 2... I can see myself bawling every time it would play.
This movie is like the best Christmas gift ever! It will always be enjoyed!
Thank you for watching this movie. Tbh, I've never seen it before so this was fun.
Upcoming movie recommendations:
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
(1966 version)
Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964 version)
Happy New Year, Charlie Brown
(1986 version)
Jurassic Park - World movies
Cause dinosaurs are cool
Amazing Spider-Man 1 & 2
Andrew Garfield's versions
This movie is so genuinely amazing, but if they worked in a brief bit where he tried to encourage them to send hate mail to each other to get more letters, that would've been a hilarious cherry on top 😆
I am SO happy you guys did a reaction with the girls!!! Ahhhhhhh
25:06 as a Siberian gotta say Saami groups are Europan arctic indigenous, in notrern Asia we have indigenous Asians of turcic origin and older indigenous ethic groups related to innit groups spread across Asia and North America (mainly, Canada). So Saami and Inuit and other arctic languages are from different linguistic families ❄️
Anyways, hope you're rewatching this movie this year too, even if offline ❤
Hi guys! There is a virtual musical called Musical without a cool acronym which is a live Phineas and Ferb musical. Knowing yall, Phineas and Ferb is something you guys would love. It may be aimed towards kids but adults who don’t have kids even love it. You guys should react to the musical. It is on TH-cam. Let me know if you like it. It gives me A very potter musical vibes.
the largest population of sami lives in north norway, then sweden, then finland , then siberia, they speak of ugric launge with is related to finnish, estonia sry of bad english.
The first time I watched this movie I ugly cried for about an hour after it was over
The only weak part of this film was the two family heads continuing the pointless feud. It was 100% unneeded at that point in the film. The real conflict, Jesper coming to terms with his own selfishness, was all that was needed.
Everything else in this film was just amazing, and I really hope Sergio keeps up doing more hand animated films in this way as literally every frame is just gorgeous.
Me and my roommates all watched this movie and ended up having a cry session all together
Great reaction. Thanks!
A Very Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to my favourite reactors and I can't wait to see your reaction to It's A Wonderful Life.
for a Christmas movie to watch watch a VHS Christmas Carol (Starkid's new musical) watch it
I'm excited to see this entire movie now, I thought I'd be satisfied with your edit but I gotta see what's so moving and can't do that through bitty bits 😁.
Recommend: Ziggy's Gift from 1982 but there is no other so the date isn't needed lol.
Wind Chill 2007 and
The Good Son for seasonal aspect since it's not holiday setting just cold months.
I swear the more I see 9tailedbrush the more I fall in love :(
you guys should so watch this christmas. it’s most definitely a different watch for y’all but i think you’d both like it :)
R.I.P. Norm Macdonald
My families favorite movie to watch together is Emperors New Groove and this movie feels so similar, with how the characters seem to reflect the ones in ENG down to a man from a spoiled rich family who learns to be humble from the more experienced older man.
Edit: I commented this immediately before you guys began to relate the two lol.
I dont even celebrate Christmas or believe in Santa and yet this made me cry
Yeah, this a great movie. I honestly believe that, although there’s presents and the mention of Christmas, and the origins of the old Santa lore, it never really felt like it was about Christmas or Santa, anything like that. It explains where it came from but the story felt more about Jesper and his friendship with Klaus, how he grew from a spoiled brat to someone more humble and compassionate, ironically stemming from very selfish actions.
Watching all funny holiday movies like Hop
Can't believe disney robbed them of their Oscar with fucking toy story 4
Honestly I never understood why the Academy Awards (Oscars) gave it to Toy Storu 4 when literally _Klaus_ went on to win Best Animated Feature at the Annie’s and BAFTA’s the latter of which is usually the best indicator where most Animated films who win the BAFTA go on to win the Oscar are 80% correct.
Probably it may have to do with the Netflix Oscar controversy they had which led to Netflix only winning one Oscar but nothing else and another was that Klaus wasn’t nominated at the Golden Gobes which presumably hindered its chances from winning. Fortunately _Del Toro’s Pinocchio_ also from Netflix eventually won the Oscar and beaten Pixar’s _Turning Red_ this year.
This movie is somewhat similar to "THE ULTIMATE GIFT" movie
