    Thank you so much for this video. The picture instructions that came with the gutter mount were useless. You really made the process easy!!

    I have a Ring 3+ doorbell cam that I installed on my porch that has a roof over it so NO sun and runs on batteries! I bought a RING solar panel ($50) and a generic gutter mount and cut the end off the USB end the solar panel to expose the (2) wires I wired this directly to the back of my Ring 3+ doorbell and guess what? It charges my doorbell cam and keeps it topped off! Ring now has solar panels made for doorbell cams but I needed something before this happened! Happy with the Ring 3+ doorbell with hacked solar panel as I've been using it now for over well over a year+. I picked the "generic" gutter mount for less than $20 on Amazon and works great for me! I also upgraded to the Ring Pro hub which allows backup cellular failover for all devices in the event of an internet outage which happens quite a bit in my area. This is GREAT for me as my SmartThings stays connected and other devices I choose and still have internet access. Yes! It's $20 a month instead of $10 a month but the backup cellular is worth it for me and my stuff still works!

    Great tip about using it as a wall mount, I've bought one to mount my stick-up cam & solar panel on a gutter, I might get another so I can have a cleaner-looking installation for my wall-mounted spotlight pro & solar panel.

    Great video as always. I just wish you would have showed the different degrees the camera could be adjusted side to side. Hopefully a future review will show it. 🙏 This is one item I will consider purchasing.

    How heavy is the camera and solar panel? Is there any chance that a plastic guttering could crack under the weight? I’m renting my place and don’t want to damage her guttering. Also which solar panel are you using? The 1.9 Watt or the 4 W?

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is the older 2.4 watt that I showed in this video. As to weight, there is some weight to it but the best place to install it is as close to the gutter support so that it will not wobble or break the gutters.

  • @inartaly

    Thank you so much! My solar panel was not fitting because of the plastic part that needs to be removed!! Lol

  • @MtnBadger

    Does it facilitate mounting the solar panel on the gutter AND the camera on the wall?? Thar would be first choice for me.

    • @artieartya
      @artieartya 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes it does. And the cord is pretty long to be able to give you more distance if needed.

    • @MtnBadger
      @MtnBadger 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@artieartya I would think so, based upon the length of cord they provide, just wasn't sure if another piece was needed besides that which comes with the kit. Thanks. 😀

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can just use this to mount the solar panel above your gutters and screw in your cameras somewhere else. You just need to do some wire management.

    How does the camera hold up to uv and rain exposure? I was considering this but only gutter mounting the solar panel and putting the camera under the eave to protect it. We get 20-40 mph winds sometimes and worried camera will shake too much if gutter mounted

    nice! could get this solar mount support the weight of a 50 watt panel centered in the middle on a cross beam on the backside of the frame? 50 watt panels are typically around 1 square foot area

    • @LifeHackster

      You probably can but you do need to rig it so that it will hold the panel. It only have the slide in bracket and not 1/4 20 thread mount.

    Or just buy the new *4K Eufy Cam 3 Solar* cameras! Here Ring is all of a sudden coming out with solutions they should have had available long ago. But they were making too much $$ off of selling extra batteries. My new Eufy Cam 3 as well as their new Door Bell Smart Lock combo arrives next week, bye bye Ring devices. Next, I'm awaiting Eufy's second Gen house security system, hopefully that's on the horizon.

    • @artieartya
      @artieartya 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ring has had this for years actually. I had this for three years now personally.

    • @PurgatoryPriest
      @PurgatoryPriest 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@artieartya - Not with built-in solar options you didn't. An addon solar panel, yes. My gripe is with the extra accessories LH is showcasing here, those extra things to make the bulky solar panel placement more convenient, this should certainly have been an option thought of long ago to help sell more of Ring's solar panels, but instead selling extra batteries for swapping out when needed made more mullah for Amazon. This product in particular seems rushed to keep one within the Ring ecosystem. I can't blame them, they're losing ground to the competition. Hopefully Eufy will continue to hit it out of the ballpark with first to market products and innovative solutions & devices. Now if they last 5+ years before breaking down, I'll be over the moon. We'll see, I'm always open to give criticism and praise if deserved either way.

    Uh-oh brother, You forgot one essential pro tip (12:40 - 12:45); as you attach the stick up cam, you failed to show the cameras rotating range.
    Have a look at your vid at 12:40. This is exactly where I would put mine, however, I only want to see strictly alongside my house. Can the camera be turned to record alongside the gutter all the way down the house? Get back to me ASAP. Thank you.

    So what do you do if your gutters have a cover like the Leaf Gutter system. You won’t be able to screw it down since you can’t get under the cover on the gutter.
    Any suggestions?
