    So far I only have one of the 5 up. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxOXxsTZ3ptV_Pk0fFl8bNZvVqeoqBQFwe My son ran out of time, with motion detector etc. I have it over my garage door. It works great. Have seen a couple of cats, my dogs, when I am out front. And had a bee buzzing around right in front of it. It works very well. It even shows the neighbour's driveway, but only shows movement just past my own, which is very long. I highly recommend them.

      @SecurityDotOrg  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Sue,
      Yes, this camera is battery-operated so you can mount it using a command strip (ideally a 3M adhesive as these tend to be the strongest. But I recommend using the included mounting bracket. More info on the camera here: bit.ly/2ozKqkM

    George from the UK, i agree with your review and i much like the camera, but i want to add a major fault!!! All run smoothly till you have no wifi. And i know that you will say “yeah is a wifi camera so no wifi- no video recordings” I understand. But what happens is that if you have a wifi outage/ drop in your connection or a power cut? The ring camera stays off. Yes. It doesn’t not reconnect till you physically remove the battery and reconnect it. It doesn’t reconnect even if your internet came back on. And if you set the motion detection it just stays dead. I spoke to ring today and i was told that the wired version does reconnect in power outage but they didn’t make clear if it does the same. Thats such a shame cause i loved the camera.

    • @SecurityDotOrg
      @SecurityDotOrg  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, it needs Wi-Fi to view cloud storage unless you pay for cellular backup which costs $10 a month or $100 a year. More on the Ring Protect plans in my written review: bit.ly/2ozKqkM

      WOW! That is #HUGE NEWS!! Thank you so much for sharing this observation with us. This was a huge oversight in the review video and on Ring's website to leave out. I am disabled and wouldn't be able get to the camera location on a whim to reset it. I would have to call a handyman to do these types of tasks. Thank you for saving me by sharing this information with us. The reviewer needs to make an "UPDATE!" video for all to see this crucial information.

    Solid video and gave you a like but I really wish you would have spoken more about the physical installation. I think 30-45 seconds would have been perfect instead of 10 seconds. It looks like it would have trouble getting into a 45 degree downward wall mounted angle. Hopefully the ring video you mentioned will speak more about it. Also the subscription basic plan covers rings, motion, and live but what are the chances of the camera missing motion such as someone farther away throwing a egg at your house? If its aimed at a busy street is that not the same as 24 hour storage? Could you put a dancing toy next to it and basically trick your camera into recording 24 hour videos? Anyways overall solid video.

    • @SecurityDotOrg
      @SecurityDotOrg  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Philip,
      Since the Stick Up Cam is outdoor, I probably won't do a video comparing the two. But I can tell you that the Indoor cam has a field of view 5 degrees wider, but only the Stick Up has noise cancellation. And while the stick Up is wireless, the Ring Indoor cam is plug-in. Of course, the Stick Up Cam can be used indoors or outdoors, unlike the Ring Indoor Cam, which might explain why it's $40 more than the Indoor cam at $100. Aside from that, the cameras are pretty similar.

I do though have the adaptors so I can keep the battery cams plugged in. One is outside. It's out of reach even though ring will replace it If it is stolen. I don't want the hassle of being without it for a week. Before I used the plug in adaptor the battery was lasting about 10 days. Most of my notifications are from cats. • @SecurityDotOrg
      @SecurityDotOrg  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Lucas! So the Stick Up is $69 cheaper and they both have the same durability, 1080p HD video, good infrared night vision, Alexa and Google Assistant integrations, and two-way audio, although that's paid with Canary. The Flex has a field of view slightly wider at 6 degrees, and no local storage, whereas Ring has really cheap cloud and local storage available. But where the Flex really beats the Stick Up is for it's artificial intelligence, offering person and package detection if you buy a plan. I'd go with the Flex because of the person detection alone, but if you don't care about that, then the Stick Up Cam definitely makes more sense. Here are my full reviews of both:

    Another NEW Security Baron’s Necessary Feature should be “CONNECTIVITY”
    ...whether it requires internet/wifi to STAY working because this is a huge security loophole when the power goes out or somebody cuts the line, or you just simply are overdue on your internet provider payment...it will still stay recording to the SD CARD or cache...and once internet is back online...the cached files are sent to the cloud.
    Having the internet to connect for the first time in installing is no problem, but it’s just the necessary 24/7 staying online to be secure, poses huge security risk you see in movies where the heist involves cutting access to the power.

      Or if it can be incorporated with a cellular plan simultaneously so if power and wifi goes down, the backup cellular tower all over the country will still allow it to work.

    Great video! The only thing I could see that makes me wonder is how easy it is to install outside. You screw the one bracket to the surface and as I can see the camera bracket pushes on to it (very easily), so if anyone wanted to take it all they would have to do is push up on it?? Need to have a locking mechanism to keep it in place! I bought the Ring Doorbell and I love it !

      Security Dot Org Sorry, To clarify, my question was about adding an additional external power supply to the camera. At 2:47, you talked about how you could hook up a power adaptor. I was just wondering if you send a link to that power adaptor?

    I've looked at several of battery outdoor cameras, and NO ONE tells you how much time from detection to showing up as an alert on your phone. Are any of the cameras quick enough to see and talk to someone at your door before they leave??

    Hi I don't know if you will respond back or not but I have that exact same ring stick up camera and it's wireless and did not come with battery It just plug it into the wall and I have it outside and it's telling me this low battery but it doesn't come with a battery and never did it just works by plugging it into the outlet and that's how I use it but it keeps on telling me to slow battery so I'm not sure what do I do
