Thanks 😀 It's a combination of the right model, ignoring a lot of details and using a simple color palette. Green on the Salamander took the same, but by the time I was done with the "scales", flame, metals, and leather, it was already a little over an hour.
@@AnotherDayMiniaturesmeanwhile i paint 1 saurus warrior each 6-8 hour 😅 Thx for the video! Great tips. It was very fast but what was that streaking grime stuff?
When I first started painting it took me ages to paint. Painting fast isn't even a good thing, just something I prefer. Streaking grime is an enamel paint, you apply it before cleaning it off. I show it in more detail in a lot of my full videos.
Welcome to the hobby mate! If you want some inspiration go to the bottom of my community tab and you can see how horrific my first miniature was :D I can almost grantee you first paint job was better.
Used a sponge before, still love the look it gives with very little work. Get the ones that are double sided for some more texture, cut them into smaller sections for layering
Love seeing someone do things the "wrong" way and get great results. The mini painting hobby often makes things way too difficult by "going by the book". Or gets things wrong, like 99% of flame swords I've seen.
not sure what it is but this just fits the heresy units PERFECTLY i cant picture modern space marines, terminators etc like this especially not primaris but this looks amazing on heresy marines, if i ever start a heresy army i know how im painting it
Honestly, I like these videos because it proves that you do not need an airbrush to paint. Minis honestly I have access and I could get airbrushes fairly easily. However, I kind of don't just out of spite of people who say you kind of need them for like vehicles and stuff
Long term, replacing the streaking grime with oil paints mixed with thinner is going to cost you less and give you pretty much the same results. Use mixes of brown and black oil paints, reddish brown for a warmer color.
The drying time with oils is far different. I have quite a few oil paints that are currently gathering dust because of that. Enamel is dry enough to be varnished within an hour.
I think I've re watched Red Dwarf around 5+ times now. Including the how they were documentaries. Can never say no to the boys from the dwarf. @@ArnoldJudasRimmer..
It's quite relaxing and fun to sponge. Definitely useful for applying the base color so you can spend more time in the important parts. Spending a lot on a model is a good thing honestly, I'm just horribly inpatient 😄. Welcome back to the hobby 🤘
I’m gonna try this but as a base coat then go over this with a thinned down mephiston red pulling it down making it thinner near the bottom as a shade hopefully this will work and give me a gradient red like I want
Yea, nurgle's rot on sponges is real. I couldn't tell you how many times my dad told me that leaving soap in the sponge makes it smell and nurgle-y after a while. (after i had done just that every time). The whole soap->rot thing still feels weird in my head.
Thats... WAY better than I expected. Might give that a go with my emperor's children; peach on bottom rising to a pink instead of black and green though.
A little much grime for my liking but was very impressed nonetheless. I suppose a green glaze could also be used to bring the colours together if a clean look was desired
Thanks! You could try using it for the initial base layer, similar to what I did in the latest short with a Tyranid. Using sponging to get a fast uniform color. Then using a brush for the armor.
Ye, it's very awesome for vehicles. Best part about using a sponge is you can go BIG, and cover the whole thing in no time. I actually did have a short sponging a Rhino fast. th-cam.com/users/shortsfAVpGZefwso?feature=shared
