Here’s what Sikkim’s 13th Chogyal said about democracy and the future of Sikkim

A special program was organised in the conference hall of The Namgyal Institute of Tibetology as a part of the centennial birth anniversary celebration of the 12th Chogyal and last monarch of Sikkim, Chogyal Chenpo Palden Thondup Namgyal.
Friday’s event saw the participation of several notable figures including Padma Shri Gadul Singh Lama, writer of the former anthem of Sikkim, several senior bureaucrats and notable personalities. The talks ranged from topics like the Late Chogyal's Life and achievements to more sensitive topics like old laws and identity issues.
The celebration began on May 22, 2022, and will continue till May 22, 2023. Several cultural events, an archery contest followed by a concluding ceremony in the presence of Chief Minister Prem Sing Tamang will also be held over the next few days.
Speaking to the media Chogyal Chenpo Wangchuk Namgyal spoke about democracy and the future of Sikkim.
