I played Edward 40 hands with my buddy using Olde English. And let me tell you, it a very good way to cure yourself of any craving for malt liquor for a long long time.
Lived across from a six pack shop in college. I sampled all of their fine 40oz offerings. OE 800 baby! I once found enough change in our couch cushions to get a 40 of this.
Imagine: you live in California in the late 80s and youre a part of an "urban" demographic. Its a hot day and you go down to the corner and get an ice cold 40. Then you go put down some tracks in the studio? The life
Had a constant smile on my face watching this as I stand in my kitchen shortly after buying a 24oz can of this. Not sure how I ended up here in my life......but here I am. Good video friend.
My dad was not much of a drinker and had no idea what a 40 represented. But the few times (maybe 5) I saw him drinking he bought me one too ( I was over 21) and it was a strangely good memory. I don't drink now but I remember malt liquor is a bit on the strong side.
In college I drank a lot of Flying Squirrels. Drink an Olde down to the bottom of the neck, refill it with a Red Bull. Nummy. Drink that bad boy hastily and rejoice in your awesomeness. The Flying Squirrel. Nothing better.
@@notjimbutcloseenough back in my early 20's myself and a few friends mixed the OE with one of those energy / alcohol drinks called tilt or a sparks if the other wasn't available.

Never have I felt the need to also lay down after watching someone down a forty.... two. A 42. The pain. The internal gnawing of my life choices mixed with a buzz.
Great series. I think you should include the ABV for everything you taste. How about trying Hazlett's Red Cat, which is the most popular wine made in New York State, the third biggest wine state. Red Cat is pretty bad, but it might be better than some of the really bad stuff you test. Keep up the good work.
You've gotta do a Brass Monkey! Take a swig off of a 40, and then top off with Orange Juice. Odd cocktail but strangely reassuring. It's like, yeah you might get gunned down by a cop, but at least you got some vitamin C to start your Tuesday morning.
My friends and I used to drink this back in the late 80s thru the early 90s. I haven't had it in almost 15 years now. I go every 10 years to my childhood block and drink OE for posterity..
I actually cooked a cheese sauce with this stuff. of course I accidentally made a rarebit with it, it tasted all right. The only thing I’m a bit iffy on is that I did get notes of a struck match near the end. It was great on mac & cheese, and even some toast, but it was a flavor I was not expecting.
I remember, drinking 3 of these an hour back in the 90's. That and Crazy Horse. Eventually moved to Colt 45. Much easier on the stomach. Good way to get tore up. Lol
This stuff gave me the worst heartburn ive ever experienced. The pain was agonizing and i was confident that i would be only seconds away from blowing the contents of my dinner all over the nearest wall in a failed attempt to get to the bathroom in time to regurgitate the foul brew

I was expecting you to spit it out as soon as it went in, no swishing. Just a visceral immediate subconscious response.
The combination of spit-tasting, and then chugging the rest, was unexpected and very satisfying.
Let us not forget the accompanying "Reggie, Grape White Owl Blunt"
