kinda interesting that the 4 of 'em got on the air together to promote "we're outta here". it didn't last long enough, but they seemed happy and healthy in their retirement here. i always wanna hear more music and road stories than howard prodded here (enough with the joey/marky internet thing) but the johnny/joey dynamic at the end, howard hit on something important there without (apparently) knowing it. they were civil, it was nice to see. thanks howard for your support of the greatest rock n'roll band! i'm an old howard fan, and supporting the ramones is another reason why.
Am I the only one that is enjoying the commercials ha brings back the memories of the 90s for sure we ALL hated the commercials but watching brings me back. 1800 collect hahaha
I love Joey's quote at the end: *"Some people commit suicide, some people just hang in there like us."* Good to know Mark and Joey made up later. Marky seems to be reserved , doing his best to alleviate the situation. Seems like Joey is the more cranky one. And it seems to me like Howard is just fueling their dispute, which really pisses me off. CJ and Johnny are quite cool here being just clear and down to earth. Well, basically Johnny's just not saying alot here, but it's surprising that he's sitting next to Joey. Sometimes i have the feeling, that this hate against each other is more like a pushed up legend thing and in fact they didn't really hate each other that much, but just couldn't get along the whole time. They seem to have respect for each other and Johnny's also respecting Joey's privacy about their feud about Linda. Maybe Johnny didn't even wanted to fight with him, but imagine playing in a band with these guys and being on tour nonstop for over 20 years: No privacy, routine, jetlag, sitting in a van for most of the time with nothing to do, just like Marky said. After a while you just get sick. These guys made the best out of it as best as they could and i really admire that. I have more respect for Joey, Dee Dee, Tommy, Marky, Richie, CJ and Johnny now than before, even if I don't share the latters political views at all. Btw: Fuck Howard Stern.
Yeah, Johnny's a pretty decent actor, he could put on a great nice guy face, but he was ultimately a pretty shitty person. He beat women and his bandmates.
Johnny Ramone’s support of President Trump would’ve an awesome thing to see ... especially in these days of liberal idiocy ... Great to know how right he was and is
i think the peace of mind that the band had ended is why he's so chill in this interview. its easy to get into a room with someone for 30 minutes, not so easy to go on tour with them.
28:21 Johnny: It wasn't about the money. The Ramones to me were... Joey: It started out not about the money. Johnny: ...was... even till the last day...
You have to think though Metallica hated each other I don’t know if they still do or not but the money they make is enough to set differences aside. The ramones never made that kinda money so they didn’t feel the need to keep going on.
Have always loved the Ramones; the early stuff, like we all have. But this is woeful. Patently there were issues that the lads were unable to resolve; greater financial reward for their endeavours would have undoubtedly helped, I suspect. Still, I'm blessed with the experience of waking up still pissed (that means drunk) on the couch, with a Converse foot print on my face from the Ramones mosh pit although it had yet to be christened the 'mosh pit' in such halcyon days. Will always, always love them. It was 1981, London. But I was pissed, after all. Just to make sure, saw them at least ten times again. And that's what always I loved about the Ramones; they performed, each and every time. Without fail. No exception. The consummate professionals. Some other subsequent bands, Pixies, Nirvana, Hanoi Rocks who I saw several times could be a lottery as to the quality of what was given to the crowd. The Ramones? always 11 out of 10 and I must have seen them over ten times. Respect. Respect. Respect.
I can see Marky's point, Ramones have a huge central and south American fan base and the shows would have been the largest and most energetic crowds of their history.
It just cannot get more personal, hilarious, etc. than this... +only Stern was able 2make something so chaotic work. Like watching Ted Williams step up2 the plate.
johnny ramone was, still is a huge role model to me. ya i know he may have had quirks. but he came from a generation i respect. he came from nothing, the odds were against him. but he rolled up his sleeves and made the most of what he had to work with.. he was good to his wife, and his life was rocknroll , he lived and breathed it and i get that........hail hail rocknroll RIP
He probably would have become a film director if not for music. Probably with a John Carpenter type following and unique style like his guitar playing.
Honestly thank you for keeping the advertisements. Im not nearly as old as most commenters (early 20s) but this reminds me of my childhood and the best times of my life so far. Stern, the ramones, the old style of television even down to the cheesy advertisments.
You hit the nail on the head with this comment. Life is short. Live Love and laugh often and let the hard times make you appreciate the good times. Carrying around grudges and hate in your heart leaves no room for the good things in life. Forgive, forget and move on.
The reason why all of the later albums were no good is from the 80's onward they stopped talking to each other. So when it came time to record, their wasn't any sort of collaboration like it was in the 70's.
@@Suburban_waste for a Rock legend of a band, they managed to write some decent tunes later. still w/ enough volume to get by, Johnny actually played lead sometimes.

The funny thing is that when I posted it lots of guys complained about those ads... thats why I added "with ads" in the title. Glad you enjoyed it. My opinion is: if you do not like it, do not watch. But some guys watch it just to have a reason to complain.
Anyone else catch when Joey says "Johnny be the mediator" at 19:40 and Johnny kind of speaking for Joey around 20:30 Makes me think Joey and Johnny got along a little better than I've been led to believe...I mean they both sat next to each other and acknowledged each other without any issue granted the main focus was more Marky and Joey's argument than Joey and Johnny's issues with each other...
They both loved the band. They were able to set aside whatever issues they had for the good of the band. Remarkably professional in that way. Check out John's last interview and he says the same thing. He took attacks on Joey as an attack on the band, and they were all in it together.
@@artis1969 I get that, I just found it remarkable because I've read and been told that Joey and Johnny didn't speak to each other for most of the bands duration because Johnny married Joey's (ex) girlfriend that alot of the Ramones songs are about (CJ Ramone said when I saw him live that he could play all those songs now because the rest of the Ramones were dead) so for Joey to acknowledge/talk to Johnny in that moment was definitely note-worthy.
@@ronaldoglesby6115 No doubt. I think some of it was hype/folklore and some of it was real. Linda claimed that Joey sent John/Linda a Christmas card up until his very last holiday season, and that there were times she'd find it in the trash. So I don't believe it was pure hatred or anything. They both usually just said that their personalities were very different and had little in common other than the band. Either way, this video is great insight as is the documentary and John's last interview.
This was the comment I've been waiting since I posted this video. I was talking about it yesterday. Holding a grudge forever doesn't help to solve any issue. I'm glad there are people who think this way. Regards!
Always thought a fascinating book would be a study looking at people who produce greatness in spite of or maybe because their personal animosity during the process. Music, sports, movies, there are so many examples of people who are brilliant together that the exploration of whether it was the product of animosity or a tragic story of conflict killing the genius would be great.
If someone had shown me a picture and asked me what they sounded like, I never would have guessed that they would all sound like NYC garbage men. They all have that accent.....and I love it. They rest of the band didn’t know he was sick at that point.
That movie The Big Lebowski looks like it might be pretty cool dude, we should all go see that in theaters!
kinda interesting that the 4 of 'em got on the air together to promote "we're outta here". it didn't last long enough, but they seemed happy and healthy in their retirement here. i always wanna hear more music and road stories than howard prodded here (enough with the joey/marky internet thing) but the johnny/joey dynamic at the end, howard hit on something important there without (apparently) knowing it. they were civil, it was nice to see. thanks howard for your support of the greatest rock n'roll band! i'm an old howard fan, and supporting the ramones is another reason why.
Am I the only one that is enjoying the commercials ha brings back the memories of the 90s for sure we ALL hated the commercials but watching brings me back. 1800 collect hahaha
💯%
Joey actually said Johnnys name and spoke to him 😂😂😂 thats crazy enough
I love Joey's quote at the end: *"Some people commit suicide, some people just hang in there like us."*
Good to know Mark and Joey made up later.
Johnny was very charming at times but he was still a total asshole. He used to throw away Joey's christmas cards without reading them
Johnny seemed pretty decent on his book and even put one of Joey's christmas cards on it
Maryann P He couldn’t be nice. We would never have had The Ramones.
Great to know how right he was and is
We had no idea puff daddy would be in soo much trouble 12 yrs later
What does that shithead have to do with The Ramones?!?!?
The greatest rock band ever, who cares if they don't get along?
Joey did you take money outta marky's pocket....naw I didn't I put money in his pocket lol 😅
Damn straight !!
There's also no greater band of any other genre either so.. GREATEST BAND EVER
i do :(
i dont like seeing these guys hating each other
I think Joey had the smallest ego in the band, Joey has always been my favorite.
geezz......johnny, the supposed difficult one, seems the most laid back and calm.
i think the peace of mind that the band had ended is why he's so chill in this interview. its easy to get into a room with someone for 30 minutes, not so easy to go on tour with them.
You only see what he shows you
28:21
Johnny: It wasn't about the money. The Ramones to me were...
Joey: It started out not about the money.
Johnny: ...was... even till the last day...
Spent far too much energy hating each other.
Yup ...so sad...Make Music ..Damn
You have to think though Metallica hated each other I don’t know if they still do or not but the money they make is enough to set differences aside. The ramones never made that kinda money so they didn’t feel the need to keep going on.
I saw a version of this recording that showed the band cutting radio ID's in Scott's studio. It was great because they were all laughing together
the radio broadcast has 49 minutes of interview.
Respect. Respect. Respect.
Howard keeps adding fuel to the flames. Like they moved on several times and he keeps digging an argument back up
welcome to the show
Howard is a moron , a user and disrespectful , grotesque
@@joesmith8288 what
Yeah that's because Stern is an ass.
after all this time johnny still has the accent. yessss.
Dude i love these commercials and the episode ! Great upload thank you!
Funny how everyone but Joey and Johnny are arguing. XD
"I'm just the roadie" 🤣😂🤣🤣😂🤣🤣
I'm so glad that they kept the commercials in this
11:05 "Only when he farted and it stunk the van up." 11:11 " I gotta admit, sometimes I farted on purpose."
Love that. 😂
I'll never fart again without thinking about Joey lol
I can see Marky's point, Ramones have a huge central and south American fan base and the shows would have been the largest and most energetic crowds of their history.
Damn i wish Joey was still with us.And Mr. Strummer also.2 legends that left us way to soon.
It just cannot get more personal, hilarious, etc. than this...
+only Stern was able 2make something so chaotic work.
Like watching Ted Williams step up2 the plate.
Its funny how Johnny, the leader when it all comes to head, just sits there and lets them air all their dirty laundry lol
Thank you for leaving the commercials in. After all these years it’s nostalgic to see some of these
johnny ramone was, still is a huge role model to me.
ya i know he may have had quirks. but he came from a generation i respect. he came from nothing, the odds were against him. but he rolled up his sleeves and made the most of what he had to work with..
he was good to his wife, and his life was rocknroll , he lived and breathed it
and i get that........hail hail rocknroll RIP
He probably would have become a film director if not for music. Probably with a John Carpenter type following and unique style like his guitar playing.
Joey and Howard Stern in the same place. Still as surreal as ever.
Btw, thanks so much for uploading this.
This is great i love the ramone i could hear them argue all day
It looks like Joey and Johnny actually had a reconciliation here, that's awesome.
Im just loving all these 90s commercials. Taking me back.
Lo mas importante es la musica de ellos que nunca desaparecera mientras los siga escuchando con mis oidos.
I remember this the night it was on!! Thanks for sharing this history.
Honestly thank you for keeping the advertisements. Im not nearly as old as most commenters (early 20s) but this reminds me of my childhood and the best times of my life so far. Stern, the ramones, the old style of television even down to the cheesy advertisments.
Almost enjoyed the old commercials as much as the interview
I love everything about Joey
You hit the nail on the head with this comment. Life is short. Live Love and laugh often and let the hard times make you appreciate the good times. Carrying around grudges and hate in your heart leaves no room for the good things in life. Forgive, forget and move on.
The reason why all of the later albums were no good is from the 80's onward they stopped talking to each other. So when it came time to record, their wasn't any sort of collaboration like it was in the 70's.
I thought some of their later ones were decent.
Every album had good and decent ones. You have to be a fan of all the years to get the good ones out.
@@Suburban_waste for a Rock legend of a band, they managed to write some decent tunes later. still w/ enough volume to get by, Johnny actually played lead sometimes.
I respectfully disagree....their later albums were solid....
Joey Ramone: "I've gotta admit, sometimes I farted on purpose." 🐂
markys scared joey would talk about hes wig again
Lolllll word!!! I remember that!
hahahahaa, yes, I agree
Yer it was so obvious he was trying to change the subject and deflect away from talking about the argument as marky didn't wanna be asked if he was wearing a wig! Howard would of prob asked if he could check live on air.. To be honest that must be a big fear or any person wearing a wig
i think at this point marky already knew Joey had cancer
@@erebustheslackerrr Why do you say that?
These commercials!! Love that they left them in. 🤙🤙
Ad for the Big Labowski. Watching these ads are great
The funny thing is that when I posted it lots of guys complained about those ads... thats why I added "with ads" in the title. Glad you enjoyed it. My opinion is: if you do not like it, do not watch. But some guys watch it just to have a reason to complain.
Hey I know that dude. He's a Nihilist.
+John Householder
Karl Hungus...
+Joseph Hogarth He fixes the cable??
Yes, this was a fun watch. Brought me back to 96" oh my.
joey and marky, it's like a verbal slap fight.
This is hilarious.....’Do you really think I’m the only one on the whole internet?’
These are one of the last bands to be completely original. After them, there were only a handful of bands that were THAT original.
Joey, Johnny and CJ were from Queens. Marky was from Brooklyn. Fun Fact: CJ and Johnny shared the same birthdate- oct 8th (same day as my dad!). Johnny was 17 years older 👍
Johnny says how to make the money and Joey says cool. best line of the interview.
Who cares if they don't get along. Long live THE RAMONES
