Titan wins hands down for me. The size 4 weapon is in my opinion a more consistent advantage due to the feast or famine nature of missiles. Also I really think people are not yet aware just how impactful the atmo flight model will be causing them to underestimate the usefulness of control surfaces.
I think that’s an excellent point, the size 4 adds a ton of punch! And the atmospheric flight will be really interesting once the more physical flight model is introduced; the Titan has a very aerodynamic shape so it should do really well!
Syulen definitely has some over the top cool-factor but I wouldn't recommend as a starter. Learning how to fly would be even tougher in this set-up. Even with a hanger full of ships, the Titan is still perfect for a few jobs. Both are awesome, but I suggest we don't trust the turtles too much.
I picked up a Syulen both for its uniqueness and low reclaim time. It is a close call between it and my 315 P for utility, tho I could also see myself keeping both in my fleet. Appreciate your perspectives and channel content! * gives a sharp salute *
The Syulen is such a unique ship, and arguably the best design out of CIG yet! Congrats on your pickup, it’s a ship that’ll serve you well out there in the verse! And thank you for the kind words, I’m glad you’re been enjoying these 😁👍
You get what you pay for. If you spend the extra 10 bucks, then you get edge the Syulen has--although its cargo is exposed and split into smaller units while the Titan's cargo is protected and in one area so you have more flexibility in what you carry--including a SOME grav bikes.
Love the Syulen! It is so unique looking/feeling and fun to fly, it handles amazingly well! The only time I personally would pick the Titan over the Syulen is if I only had 1 ship. The Titan is more practical and useful with the ability to carry a vehicle, but since I have many ships, the Syulen is the one that is in my fleet.
The Syulen was the big surprise for me this year. The most creative new ship from CIG in 2yrs, and incredibly well designed, it’s a great ship in all the ways described and oozes cool with that iconic shape.. makes me very excited for the Railen further down the line. Flipside the Avenger Titan is much more accessible with two entrances and one click cockpit access, plus that ground vehicle potential too. That plus the size four hard point on the nose make it better for combat to higher tiers, so it still gets the win for me. It needs some TLC on that interior for sure, but that’s the case with lot of the older ships like the Freelancers too. Great video, it’s definitely the first ship to be a genuinely close alternative to the Titan as king of starters.
The team did such a fantastic job on the Syulen and gets me really excited for the Raile, along with the other alien ships as well! And I agree, the Titan is packed with utility and a ton of pilot firepower! But definitely looking forward to what the gold polish pass on the Titan, Freelancer, Tali, and other legacy designs looks like once complete!
I got the Syulen also and the learning curve is something. I upgraded all system components and weapons to two laser cannons and one distortion repeater.
I did not realize the distorter took down shileds. I thought it only shut down the vehicle. Obviously those go hand in hand, right?@@nehemiahwashingtoniii748
I don’t agree with the syulen getting a higher score than the titan. This is because I think the following points were not taken into account. The Titan has two exits instead of one making it better for going into a combat area. Sidenote, the Titan also has an ejection seat which might come in handy. Secondly, the Titan has a the size 4 hardpoint that combined with its smaller profile should give it the edge in pvp dogfighting. Lastly the Titan has a ramp that makes loading and unloading non standard cargo like delivery boxes much easier. Therefore I think the Titan should be the winner in most categories instead of being counted as equal and it definitely should be the overall better ship.
Completely agree. The utility of internal cargo, multiple access, x1 S4 firepower, ramp for vehicles, potential modularity (not holding my breath on that,) and someday flight surface addition makes the Titan win out. QT range, some more missiles, and newness are the only things where the Syulen at all edges out the mighty Titan.
I'm not sure how the syulen can come close to the Titan in cargo when it's cargo is exposed, limited to smaller SCU containers and cannot carry a vehicle. Also for combat the s4 is better than the extra missiles that never work
As a fan of the Kuat Systems Firespray-31-Class Patrol Craft, there is something about the Syulen I like. Because of how cargo is carried as well as the amount it can carry, I feel the Syulen should have been given two size 4 hard points and one size 3 instead of the three size 3s it comes with.
I own both ships, used them alot (dozens of hours each) and love them both. I love the Syulen, this thing is so unique but I think the Titan should take the win. Utility : you nailed it. Syulen has full living amenities, Titan has this sweet little cargo bay. But I think the Titan takes it and makes the difference when it comes down to Durability and Combat. The Syulen cross-section is way too large, you are a huge target. I have completed a full Pirate Swarm with my Titan, and I hadn’t been in dogfighting for a moment at this time. I wouldn’t be confident at all doing it with my Syulen. Both ships are incredibly fun. Syulen for its unique design, visuals and sounds. Titan for its simplicity of use. But if we talk about efficiency, I don’t see a single point where the Titan concedes anything. That's my point of view! 😅
I think this is an excellent take and highlights some of the key distinctions between the two; the Syulen is fantastic, fresh and full of internal amenities while the Titan is rugged, reliable, and more combat focussed!
ill stick the the Cutter Scout as my small just transport ship. For small fighter ill have the 325A as a 600i loaner as long as it lasts. My Reliant SEN is a competent fighter too if you swap all the hardpoints meant for science into guns, having 6x S2 guns. I mean, i have a titan, for aUEC.... ill get syulen when its available ingame too, but real money pledge i dont see a need for any of those having so many other options. My take on a new player, having just 1 SHIP..... betwen the 2 on display id pick the Titan, capacity to hold 2 SCU boxes, or a bike like the X1, S4 gun when armor becomes a thing. But to be fair, hardly anyone with a starter ship will stick to that up to game release, it will be upgraded eventually, as a DO it all ATM the SPIRIT C1 is my go to for the ONLY ship.
I own both the Avenger Titan & the Gatac Syulen. I started the game with the Avenger Titan, and I have to admit it is one of the best "new player" ships. the Syulen, imho, is more nimble and much more fun to fly, but there is a learning curve to flying her that a new player does not experience with the Avenger Titan. My daily driver is the Syulen now. Also, the lifetime insurance made the Syulen that much more desireable. Should I ever CCU up, that is a distinct advantage. Problem is, If I ccu up the Syulen to take advantage of the LTI, then I'd have to buy another Syulen, haha!
It's an awesome ship! Not quite as rugged and a bit more difficult to use, but brings so much for that tradeoff. And I'm sure the Syulen will always find a place in your fleet!
Syulen might not have a cargo area or that s4 gun but its a much more up to date vehicle with a bathroom. the titan will eventually get overhauled to incorporate the new features like component access and physical door buttons.
i had the Syulen as my starter, its a cool ship, but it annoyed me to no end whenever i had to land the thing, it also annoyed me with its vertical design, i really did not enjoy the felling of getting into the pilot seat of it, in the end i ended up upgrading it to the nomad, which i enjoy alot more, if the Syulen could auto land anywhere, i think i would probably have keept it, but everytime i had to land it was just pain being unable to see anything your doing, and controlling it in third person was a nightmare to when landing, what was expecially terrible when the planet was stormy, somehow i would try land only to end up multiple km's away from my target landing zone.
Let's also keep in mind that the Avenger series of ships are slated for modularity, basically giving you 3 ships in 1 being able to swap the rear section.
So the winner is the ship with fewer and smaller hardpoints, more space but less SCU and no room for a vehicle, is less maneuverable, takes more time to get into and out of, is more difficult for a new pilot to land, and loses its wings and weapons if it's shot at. For a starter? Because it has more QT fuel? For Pyro? Where the nubs and their starter ships hang out? Don't get me wrong, the Syulen is undeniably cooler, and shows just how far CIG has come since the last Titan rework. But it is also undeniable function following form. The Titan is simply more practical as a starter. It can do everything the Syulen can. The Titan can take 8 SCU in a single trip, mount a size 4 weapon, have the pilot enter and take off in less than 15 seconds, fit a Greycat in back, etc. The Syulen just can't
There is more to it. Yes, QT will matter more and more. Vehicle in the Titan is not practical, not that many to put there too. Front gun is gone after couple of shots hitting you.
i don't know how you came up with that math but even when prefering the syulen like i do, the titan is just better. much smaller target in fights, reasonable pilot protection, 8SCU that can handle 2SCU containers too, can hold a small vehicle, can conveniently hold delivery boxes. doing bunker runs you can very conveniently drag in bodies to strip and store the armour in your vehicle inventory. getting a body in and out of the syulen is a task, the external boxes are also accessible for everyone who wants to grab your stuff. the titan on the other hand is also a vehicle you can loot drug boxes with. you're not going to hold boxes in the syulen, it's a pain in the ass to get them to stay in place anywhere and if you want to use the habitation deck you nee to go up and down on the elevator for each box and maybe stuff them in the bed cave. while it's not an issue when you know some basics on how to fight the syulens big stretched out thrusters can get ripped off far easier than anything on the titan, messing with your forward movement. lastly, for firepower, while on smaller targets the amount of rattlers is a really good addition, you' prefer a 1S4 ballistic cannon when you get to higher bounty targets. the syulen can roll much faster but pitch and yaw are both better on the titan. the only thing you gain with the syulen that has an advantage is the top speed and SCM and you look cool. you couldn't catch me dead in the penguin, i just hate it because it looks embarassing, but objectively it's just the better vehicle.
I just fly both ships and decide my points from there, but it’s entirely my opinions! Although I agree with your points, the Titan is simply easier to fly and just better overall in the current game!
I have a Syulen in my fleet but it’s more of a fragile, camper/runabout than it is a starter. Chances are you get yourself killed long before you’ll run out of fuel. The Titan is the better starter. It’s more versatile and forgiving in just about every way.
The Titan needs a gold pass badly. Even with that I would still pick it over the Syulen. During free fly I flew it in different missions and found it annoying to land. Take off from hangars was tedious. The Titan it is in, up and out. I do give credit to Syulen for better handling and firepower, but having a much larger cross section, makes it hard to miss. As for fuel range. CIG has already stated that QF levels will be changing.
The Titan would be my pick as well, and it’ll be even better after a gold polish pass! I can’t wait to see the older ship designs get the 5 star treatment!
I'd say that the Avenger should get the .5 advantage in utility and in combat because it carries more, and it is harder to hit. The Syulen is an explorer's shuttle while the Avenger is a true combat and utility vehicle.
I feel the Syulen is more comparable to the 300i actually. Same weapon size hard points, ship component sizes and cargo capacity. Syulen has more missiles than both 300iand Aegis Avenger. Syulen also doesn't care that it is in atmo when it comes to manuvering and it seemingly only affects its top speed. The Aegis Avenger Titan actually has better pitch and yaw stats than the Syulen, but I think those are mostly an advantage in space and not atmo. Syulen is extremely easy to fly once a person gets past the takeoff and landing, not that the Avenger or 300i are hard to fly, they just.have to be flown like an airplane in atmo.
I've owned both and miss my Titan. Don't miss the Syulen at all. Titan is more intuitive to maneuver especially when it comes to landing and has two entry points.
I think there's something to be said about how simple and straightforward the Titan is to fly and operate! Sometimes having more doesn't always mean better!
I bought a syulen lti starter package at iae, and i had previously bought a fury lti token that upgraded to a titan avenger. Thing is about an hour ago i just bought a $2400 7800x3d 7900xtx computer from ibuypower and vkb gladiator joystick and omni throttle, because my poor $1100 2021 laptop can't run star citizen.

I’m glad you enjoyed this video! And while I don’t think the Syulen is useless, it definitely has some drawbacks given its design and intended role. But congrats on all your pickups, that’s one hell of a fleet!

i don't know how you came up with that math but even when prefering the syulen like i do, the titan is just better.
much smaller target in fights,
reasonable pilot protection,
8SCU that can handle 2SCU containers too,
can hold a small vehicle,
can conveniently hold delivery boxes.
doing bunker runs you can very conveniently drag in bodies to strip and store the armour in your vehicle inventory.
getting a body in and out of the syulen is a task, the external boxes are also accessible for everyone who wants to grab your stuff.
the titan on the other hand is also a vehicle you can loot drug boxes with.
you're not going to hold boxes in the syulen,
it's a pain in the ass to get them to stay in place anywhere and if you want to use the habitation deck you nee to go up and down on the elevator for each box and maybe stuff them in the bed cave.
while it's not an issue when you know some basics on how to fight the syulens big stretched out thrusters can get ripped off far easier than anything on the titan, messing with your forward movement.
lastly,
for firepower, while on smaller targets the amount of rattlers is a really good addition, you' prefer a 1S4 ballistic cannon when you get to higher bounty targets.
the syulen can roll much faster but pitch and yaw are both better on the titan. the only thing you gain with the syulen that has an advantage is the top speed and SCM and you look cool. you couldn't catch me dead in the penguin, i just hate it because it looks embarassing, but objectively it's just the better vehicle.

Titan, have always had one, fly it daily, have: F8/M2/CI/A1/both ARES/San'tok.yāi /ALL 3 Zeus/Phoenix..and the rest, yet can always rely upon the titan. Great breakdown and personal thoughts.
I’m glad you enjoyed this video! And while I don’t think the Syulen is useless, it definitely has some drawbacks given its design and intended role. But congrats on all your pickups, that’s one hell of a fleet!
