- Something I have been trying to decide on since starting the project was wheels. Decision has been made and in this episode we set about refurbishing them ourselves. DIY Refurbished a few sets of cast wheels but never splits so this one was fun.

When I saw the wheels first, I was like no thats not going to work, but after you painted them they look so good, they look really nice and really are going to pop on the MK1

I've just picked some 19" 9j BBS Speedlines up, for my Audi A5. I'm just about to have the faces cut flat, then I'll be starting the refurb. A few of the bolt holes need Helicoiling. Mind you, after watching this, they'll 110% be satin.

They look tasty. I've a similar set in 4x100 on my r53 in all black. I considered keeping for my MK1. Not smooth like those though. They've an extra ridge detail on each spoke.

Those wheel look mint Dan you've done a fantastic job getting them to look like they do now and the colour is spot on mate. Just one thing, I don't know what sort of clearcoat you used but on the edge of the wheel where it's mirror polished you need to use DTM clearcoat as normal clear will not adhere to the bare alloy, you may have used it but I thought it worth a mention 👌🙏👍

Have you tried heating the bolts on the wheel they a couple snapped on? I had similar bbs’s refurbed and they said they throw them in the oven first to burn any loctite off. 1 snapped anyway and they used an engineering shop to drill it and helicoil it

BBS RX2 are great looking wheels, the biggest issue with them is they are very greedy on space inside the rim, limiting choices of bigger brakes.
These were also fitted to Mk3 Golf anniversary - but wider.
Classy colour combination, I trust you will be adding lacquer the polished lip?
that looks slick, well done. but if you did not go original then I still think the ATS cup is the most beautiful for the mk1. nevertheless, beautifully done. I wonder how they stand.

Hi buddy loving the channel can I ask a question I'm just about to do the window conversion on my caddy and I'm trying to work out the wiring on the A pillar plug I've worked out all bar what the green wire and the blue wire are for any ideas.

What’s happening guys ? !!!!! Have you been watching too many American TH-camrs ? Anyway like your videos and love golfs my first was a 19977 Golf LS 1600 soon VW reduced that back to 1500 . The mechanical oil pump , running off the engine , failed at 100 mph . The big ends went .

Pretty sure those wheels came in the mk3 anniversary as well.
A similar design did but they were 15” not 16”. There are some 16” 4x100 but they are very rare
Weld some nuts on the broken studs which will release the corrosion bingo the barrel without a crack just a suggestion 🤔

You do know you’ll end up with 50 set of alloys like every other early golf owner
