Demo video of the way Ola Belle Reed played this song (which she wrote), or at least this as close as I can get to it. Key of G with banjo tuned in standard G (gDGBD). There are some tricky maneuvers in this arrangement, but they are worth the trouble once you get them.
I have also tabbed a somewhat simplified version that still retains much of the essence of OBR's playing: www.hangoutsto...

Thank you Jack,I have just recently found Ola Belle Reed and I am taken by her mournful sound and this is a great tune! She was so amazing and very much a part of banjo lore....in my opinion of course.
Thank you Jim. I have a somewhat simpler version of this song too, but I thought I would put a fully embellished OBR version out there so that folks can get a sense of some of her banjo craft. I would concur with your opinion of OBR!
Thanks, I downloaded both from hangout before finding video
I could listen to that on a big ol' loop for a long while
Thanks!
So nice and thanks for including and easier version for us beginners :)
Thanks, and I all but forgot that I linked to the simplified tab, lol! Glad you found it. It's a quirky melody, so give your self some time to internalize it and get worked out.
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Hi Jack! Thanks for your videos they are so helpful! Would you consider making a clawhammer video on the song Colored Aristocracy, Taj Mahal version? 😀
nice! Love this!
Thanks Brandon!
@@banjojack great job playing, is there a resource for a tab for this? ( fairly easy tab?) this is the kind of playing that really inspires me
@@banjercat Brandon, in the description above I have linked to both a tab for how I play it in this video and a somewhat simplified version. Both are in my tab collection on the Banjo Hangout.
@@banjojack thank you! I will look for it!
