    The very existence of the Oswin Dalek touches on an extremely important yet overlooked facet of the Daleks as a whole: their hypocrisy. The Daleks constantly laud their "purity" as the cause of their superiority... yet they elevate a so-called "lower lifeform" to their level because of her intellect. This shows the Dalek philosophy for what it truly is: a self-serving lie that they'll skirt around or outright abandon at their convenience. This innate fallacy is even remarked on in Revolution of the Daleks.

    That 'realisation' music tears me up every time. Saddest fate for the companion who should have been. I remember watching this episode for the first time, never saw this coming.

    The Asylum contains insane daleks, also daleks impure without Named DNA, so I guess converting Oswin almost ment nothing to them since they are all different genetics down there, curious as to whether the asylum would have survived the time war. Plus dalek timeline might seem like a mess, it's because we don't have it categorised like river song, it's their constant time travel that allows them to be in the future and also extinct at current times. There being a dalek, movellon, draconian war in the future despite being extinct in the past. Actually a good example I can make is for the cybermen like they were extinct at the end of the cyber war, with Ashad being one of the last. Then they travel back with the master a try to convert people in 2022 without much consequence to them. Maybe if we had a chronological order for it all,( if anyone is brave enough to try and set up a timeline for them like how we have a timeline for river song), then it would probably a little bit more clearer, Especially with the announcement of a new dalek design. Why not have classic daleks return, why would the bronze daleks need to be redesigned, what purpose would the daleks have to do this. Or is the new dalek design actually just going to be a certain dalek like a new strategist or something alongside bronze daleks, who knows, I mean in out of time 1 they had Gunmetal Daleks with a Modern Supreme so, anything's possible. Anyway interesting how these tie together.

    For some reason it never occurred to me that Oswin was one of Clara’s splinters, always thought she was some sort of distant relative haha! Adds a lot of clarity to her story arc

    For me, this provided a certain chilling circularity to her fate in Magician's Apprentice/Witch's Familiar. Intensifying the fact Jenna was leaving that year. Sure, I expected her to leave at the end, and not the beginning of the series. But, it added some genuine peril to have her encased by Missy, and her speech (interpreted by the Dalek censor circuits).

    I can see the Oswin Dalek becoming a companion for the Doctor, this would force him to either deal with his hatred and disgust for the Daleks or something else. either way when dealing with the Daleks, it's better to have one along side you

    One of the reasons the Asylum could contain so many inpure strains of Daleks, was that, thes Daleks were insane, but still had one common trait, their hatred. That trait was revered by the sans Daleks, because the insane ones were far more brutal than they were… it was something to aspire too, if only they could harness and fix the broken Daleks to obey orders. It’s why Oswin works being a converted Dalek.

BBC really needs to get the right to actually allowing a 100% pure good a likable Good Guy Dalek Character as part of the Main Cast and as an awesome total badass heroic companion and body guard to the Doctor and his friends too."

      In the words of Capaldi: There is no such thing as a good Dalek! In all seriousness tho, the whole point of Daleks is to be centred around hate and warfare to achieve destruction. They are quite literally the juxtaposition to the Doctor's pacifist, nice-guy goals and motivations. Be it, I have to admit, I did like Smith's brief sidekick Cyberman head known as Handles.

    To be honest, I don't really like the Dalek Asylum, because... it ruins the lore a lot. The Daleks fought the Time Lords and used everything they had, the worst nightmares they had ever created were set in motion. The Daleks even began to transform other races into their own kind, and even made an alliance with the Daleks from another dimension. And after all this, you mean to say that the Daleks didn't use the ENTIRE DALEK PLANET?!

    • @yehiahuzayyin7972
      @yehiahuzayyin7972 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Who said that they didn't? For all we know, most of the Daleks in the Asylum could be from after the war, with just a few survivors in the intensive care section.
