My heeler pointer mix had parvo when we got her at 8 months old, they told me she wouldn’t last a week, if she did she wouldn’t have a good quality of life, I’m happy to say she’ll be 18 next month !!!!!! She has severe food issues and is overweight but she has had a good happy long life!!!!

Correct. Dogs are supposed to eat clean meat with a little fat.

I have cooked for my 15.5 year old dog all of his life. He has a variety of vegetables, meats, and carbs. He has Yumove as a supplement. He also really enjoys seeing his friends in the park. I have large stools by the beds so he can get onto the beds in 2 easy stages. He's nearly blind due to cataracts so on darker days the lights are on in the house during the day to help him. Furniture is always in the same place so he doesn't hurt himself. On work days he travels around in the car to my home visits in the morning as he wants to be with me, and in the afternoon he naps at home. And lastly he loves going to the country park with my daughter's dog but he can't cope with the whole distance so he walks a bit, and then rides in his pushchair like a king surveying his kingdom. So I feel I am doing everything possible for him to enjoy his life. I'm very grateful for every extra day spent with him ❤

Doing animal rescue for 60 years, I realize the fundamental cost is high, but in the end, it means fewer vet visits, less likelihood of getting cancer or other diseases, and a happier healthier dog is worth it, and it WILL save you $1,000's!!

I fed my dog a species appropriate diet -prey model, raw (with a few extras). I transition him to best dog heaven at age 17. He really didn’t have any signs of aging until the last year and a half and his teeth were beautiful! I do believe the proper species diet is absolutely the number one item for health and longevity. Really seems like a no-brainer to me now but our last dog got diabetes and I thought I was feeding him a premium dog food so I did a deep dive on what are dogs supposed to eat? Da😊❤ I will feel forever grateful for all the wonderful, healthy days I had with him. Oh, and by the way, no vet bills, he was never ill, never even had an ear infection. I’d much rather spend the money quality foods than vet bills, plus you don’t have to watch them hurt.

Yes. A species specific diet. Every chronic metabolic ailment in dogs and cats is caused by the same thing that creates the same in humans - The wrong products. Eating food is the medicine. No creature does well with seed oils, sugars, carbs nor processed products.

My precious boy just turned 15. He's had it rough, first being severely abused in the care of our vets (whom we trusted after 20 yrs of being with him) office while my husband had to travel for his cancer medical care. Those five months he suffered so much when we returned it cost us close to 10k to help him recover. But mentally he never recovered. Then he got Cushing's after his daddy passed which I think was from all the stress from the vets abuse and then losing his daddy. Then here recently he had a really bad seizure (his first) which took his vision, now he's completely blind, and he's losing his hearing and he's deeply filled with anxiety. He has a hard time walking. I am so grateful for every day I have with him because I can see his time isn't on his side. My other dogs lived long lives, 20 yrs, but they never had stressful lives or an abusive environment for anytime in their lives. I'm doing my best to help my precious boy with our time left.

Our dogs tend to live into their high teens. I have a working (not showing, real working) border collie who still works daily at 12 1/2. I keep my dogs lean, they are outside daily for fresh air and sunshine, and they are kept very active. I feed twice a day, and feed a base of kibble but at least 50% raw meaty bones, and veggies (one will peel and eat a banana). I use freeze dried salmon and liver for treats. My vet is amazed at how long our dogs live. And one reason they live so long is they never go to the vet. They get puppy shots that I give myself then titers. No more vaccines after puppy shots except rabies as required by law and I stop that at age 7. My 12 year BC just had his first exam since being neutered at age 2 and his blood work was perfect. I was a vet tech and I avoid the vet and all the poisons they want me to put in and on my dog.

Great advice! I mix tumeric and curcurmin powder in with the ground turkey when I cook it. Yes I've bought a few comfy dog beds when he could no longer jump up on my bed to sleep😅 he has been convalescing recently from a vestibular episode and is responding well to medication. Thank God. I was so worried about him but found hope in your video about that and your friend's experience with his dog. I watched that video. We brought him to the vet , she said he had a tumor in his eye and said his ears hurt and recommended putting him down . I was furious! I asked everyone to pray for him and I told that Vet Jesus healed a blind man and made a lame beggar walk. I told her Jesus raised people from the dead. He has had a good appetite and thirsty while convalescing so I knew that was a good sign.❤ Thank God I didn't take that bad advice from that Vet who just wanted to put him out. You're absolutely right about anything can happen at any time...a few nights ago he was panting and moving his tilted head and his eyes were twitching. Thank God a few days later after starting him on the med, that Nystagmus has ceased. Thank God he is responding well. He has been getting plenty of rest. I stay home a lot and prefer to be home with him.

I have a 16 year old shitzu, papillon, Maltese mix. He had a skin condition and a hip problem when he came into our lives at 6 yrs. He is on Apoquel 3.6mg for his skin, and hip and joint solution we add to his food. He developed a gastrointestinal problem so is on a special diet. All of these medications are doing there job. He now has cataracts so site is not clear, hearing is diminished, and occasionally shows sign of dementia. Despite all this the cool fall days we are experiencing make him act like a pup, and the words car ride always get him excited. He is still a happy little man and we are blessed for everyday we have him. My hope is he can remain like this till his last day then go peacefully to sleep.

I have added CBD oil to my 11-year-old lab's diet, as well as raw honey which you recommend for coughing. She has medium collapsed tracea, and not only did the honey dramatically reduce the amount of coughing to almost none, but I use it to give her the pills (gabapentin) she takes for her arthritis. I also give her a little taurine every day - it has also made a difference. I haven't heard you talk about taurine. What is your recommendation for it? Thanks, and keep up the great videos.

    Hello!!! Love your videos!!!
    I have a question.
Two months ago I took our 14 year old Bichon in for a teeth cleaning. They extracted 4 teeth and told me he would need to see a specialist because it was so severe.
I did take him to a specialist and he wants to extract all teeth with a 5000 dollar bill.
Braxton is eating and drinking normal.
But, I can tell his mouth is very tender.
What kind of pain relief can I give him ?
My husband and I decided not to go through with the surgery but I’m trying to figure out other natural remedies.

Can I give my dog regular people's turmeric for pain? She is 15 and walking alot slower. Tried a couple of different Glucosamine Chews, but didn't notice any change. 😊

Thought dogs can't have mushrooms? Lion's Mane mushrooms, however are great for us.

Opps, spoke to soon. According to Dr. Google, dogs can. 😳 They say: important to cook Lion's Mane mushroom(prebiotic) before because it can be difficult to digest in raw form.
Powder form: 1/2tsp for each 10kg(22LBS) (highest dosing tier 25mg of beta-glucabs per day)
Very important any medicinal mushroom supplement is made from whole fruiting bodies NOT mycelium, plus No fillers.
This seems like a superfood for dogs. I knew the mushrooms were great for us.(matter of fact, having some tonight 😋) but now my dog can have some and get the great benefits too.
      FYI: Lion's Mane Mushroom
      (for those who don't know)
Has ability to protect and improve brain and nerve function.
      Support immune/digestive health, plus anti-inflammatory
      Helps with DM- Degenerative Myelopathy
      Anti- Cancer properties
      Build Gut and Immune Health
      Improve Heart Health
      Can help control obesity
      Anti-Bacterial benefits
Hope this helps. Excellent for Senior Dogs.

Hi Dr. Jones, I just ordered 5 of your items from your site!
I wanted to ask you a question I hope you’ll see my comment.
I have an almost 17 year old chihuahua. She was “special needs” when I adopted her a decade ago they were going to euthanize her. She howls and cries for me when I’m not with her and nothing has helped that. She only stops when I’m with her. I just bought your calming supplement and CBD supplement. Can I use both of those? Her vet also prescribed alprazolam but I haven’t tried it with her yet because she’s only 4lbs and I’ve been hesitant.
I’m supposed to go away for 2 weeks on a medical mission trip in a couple of months and I really want to go but I would never forgive myself if something happened to her while away as I have no idea how much time she has left but other than her eye drops I give her she’s had a clean bill of health at the vet. She would be at her home with my family but I don’t want her to think I’m not coming back and give up or something.
    Do you have any insight?
    Thank you!

you really don't ever have as much time as you think you do. Take those pictures and videos, do the silly birthday party, have the silly games and do _that thing_ now, not later. I spent a lot of time with my late boy before he passed back in May of this year from spleen cancer, but so much of it was him sleeping and me doing my daily varied things. I refused to acknowledge he was even a senior dog until the final year of his life (11 yrs) because he looked so healthy and so young people constantly mistook him for an adolescent labrador pup instead of the grown mix GSD/Lab he actually was. If I could do one thing over, it would be to do more things daily with him besides just pets and walks and ball throwing, and I would acknowledge his age sooner, so that I could give him the proper diet and *_have the proper time to prepare for loosing him._*
The worst part of that bad day he went was that I had NO idea he would be leaving me so soon, because I was denying how old he was and how soon he could go. Yeah, the illness was a complete surprise, but I might have been more prepared to lose him if I had not being in denial... With my new pup (adopted 2.5 year old chi) I'll be trying to do better and face that time more gracefully. It's hard, but its worth it to ensure he has a good senior age when that time comes.

Got a question? I have senior maltess, vet wants to put her down as of tuesday..says its hopeless.. Dog seems good exept breathing.. She has Cardiogenic pullmondary edema, I made up some rice with chicken and added Turmeric for pain if any, Dandelion for diruetics , going to use colloidal silver as well, I gave her mullein tea when i boiled the chicken, is this good for her or should I skip it.. I am trying my best to help her as the vet wants to kill her..she still walks, barks, wags tail, breathing issues , sacs in lungs full of fluid.. Basically I need to know if the Mullein tea is what I should be doing or should I skip it? everything else I have done my research and I know about herbs, been using them many years on myself and learning which ones to give to pets..Thanks for any help!

Yes! One of my felines lived to be 19! A friend's cat, that lived on an organic farm and enjoyed plentiful sunshine, fresh air, exercise, and fresh organic food, sadly passed at 26...after being accidently backed over by a visitor. That cat looked young and amazingly healthy right up to the end! 💗

@@rosalindhb Thank you rosalindhb! I looked into it and noticed that there was a lawsuit against Acana and Orijen dog foods. Someone said that the new people who purchased the companies had changed the ingredients some? I want to look into feeding both home cooked food and raw while my dog is young. I hate cancer and I don't trust the dog food companies today. To be able to feed good food to your dogs and cats and know that it is is a blessing. I have a lot to learn.

Yes, I don't like the rabies either, but my doggos are inside and outside. We live around a lot of wildlife.
When I was a kid, our dogs got vaccines as puppies, and that was it.
