The best scene was definitely when those two guys stepped in to hide him at the bus stop.
That's a lot of people at a bus stop.
That was the best scene from the movie. Unfortunately it would never work in the book since he was a giant instead of 5'6"

That's probably the most unrealistic scene in this whole franchise. Who would give his hat to a stranger, and then put it back on his head later?

I actually love the bathroom scene, it is definitely over the top, but gives an idea of how 2 untrained, inexperiences and uncoordinated idiots who are high on adrenaline (and possibly also on drugs/drunk if their behaviour indicates anything) and fighting in close quarters with relatively long weapons would fare.
incidentally, it's also why samurai wear 2 swords: one long and a shortsword. shorty for indoor use for this exact reason.
It's not exactly over the top. Don't forget, the people who stabbed Julius Caesar cut each other up just as much. Two big idiots in a tiny bathroom with long weapons isn't the best combo.

Tom Cruise gets two thumbs up both for producing and acting in this film. Amazing talent.

This movie is underrated as hell.
When those civilians helped him hide, that was the best part of the whole movie.
I was surprised at how much I really enjoyed this movie. Tom Cruise may be a tad small to play Jack but gave him a gravitas that few other action stars can pull off.
It was a better film than I think anybody expected but ended up getting over shadowed by another unexpected great action film, John Wick. Still, I'd love to see a sequel as I think this first movie was definitely good enough to merit at least one more Jack Reacher film.
And I actually think that in this case the sequel could be better than the first film. It's worth a shot.
I saw an interview with Lee Child where he said Cruise may not have Reacher's size but he has his attitude.
I like to see a sequel with DIE TRYING novel.
One shot would make a great movie too

The sequence reminded me of the house trailer fight scene in Raising Arizona, when Nicholas Cage and John Goodman were being fucked up more by banging into everything in that tiny trailer than they were from fighting each other.

Ole Bras De Ruiter I think it was reflecting how dumb it is to use 3ft long weapons in a tiny bathroom paired with amateurs doing a job they were overexcited about.
As good as this movie was, the Jack Reacher books are out of this world. I really hope they continue to explore this character in movies and stay close to the source material. It would make for a really, really good series of movies, like James Bond

When Tom walked out from his car to the bus stop, all looked at him. The response from the guys at the bus stop was amazing. The guy handed his cap, 2 guys moved forward to protect Tom.

I know this movie didn't do too well at the box office but I am a movie hound and I thought it was really really good...I'd like to see a sequel...and btw I am not even a big T.C. fan, but I thought he was great in this movie.
Well, if Tom Cruise is involved and wants to do it, a sequel is still really possible even jf it didn't make a ton at the box office. Thats the kind of talent Tom Cruise is.

This was an excellent film...really good actors, excellent screen play and though I didn't use to be a TC fan he has really impressed me in his last couple films...Outstanding in this one.
Any scene with Tom Cruise driving that beautiful 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 is one of the best scenes. I had one sort of, A 1967 SS. I installed a Muncie 4-speed manual transmissions with Hurst white-ball shifter. That car was tight. My second Chevelle was a 67 with a 427 corvette LT1 , Holly 850 4 barrel , Wieland high rise , Hole in the hood for an Accelerator stack , Headers and glass packs. Light the tires in two and chirp the third. I miss it.

Because we read the books years ago and Lee Childs never missed an opportunity to remind the reader how physically huge Reacher was. Cruise is hideously undersized for the role. Imagine watching a movie titled “David & Goliath” and David is taller. It makes that much sense
The fight scene outside the bar was great.. and the scene when he ditches the car and the guy gives him his hat and they cover him is so awesome!!! Both Jack Reacher movies are great in my opinion.

What I love about that scene is that while they come across as buffons it really is that hard to fight in a small bathroom if you are that big and trying to use those instruments , everythinig in a bathroom is designed to kill you: I have always said it is the safeset and most deadliest room in the house.

I remember thinking Cruise didn't have the physique to play Lee Child's Reacher, but he surely had the will and acting chops. I like his character much better than Alan Ritchson's in the Prime series. Never follow Cruise.

I like the black guy in the suit. I've always enjoyed intelligent, sophisticated villains in movies. Especially the stare down between him and cruise when he walks out of the building and sees Cruise in the car.

+blockmasterscott One of the most memorable villains I've ever seen in a movie (also played by a black dude) was "The Operative" from Serenity, a movie made by Joss Whedon. Joss is a fucking genius, and "The Operative" as a character is totally badass, so intense and uncompromising, the movie as a whole is great. Check it out!

I wish I never had seen this movie so I could get that first time feeling again. Yet here I am for like the 20th time. Even reading the books which there is a lot of and I couldn't be happier about that.

It always irritated me when people were critical of Tom because of the height difference but didn't bat an eye when a 6'2 Hugh Jackman played the 5'2 wolverine. Tom killed it in these rolls.
I don't disagree with the sentiment, but it's an invalid comparison. Reacher's height is an integral part of him. It dictates every single interaction and makes any character dynamic completely different. One could argue that Wolverine is the same way, but that stops when the fighting starts. Reacher's combat style is really dependent on his size. Besides, Jackman got plenty of flak when he was first casted

The smartest thing and probably the least noticeable is in the first fight scene he stops the "Discount Johnny Drama" from attacking by interrupting him one last time. When he did this DJD went to go and strike but stopped to listen. He showed what his first move was going to be. Jack was even more prepared for his strike so he could easily counter.
I love how he uses the one guy's head to beat the other one with it.

You can't hit at your natural point (bat parallel to the ground) cause you'll hit the edge of the tub first. All of which is on display in the fight.

The sweet old rides always gets trashed in Hollywood. I try not to think about it.
This was definitely my least favored part of the movie and caused me actual pain. It was just this sick lump deep in my gut that ached the entire rest of the movie. Why not the second gen Camaro instead? Still a tragic waste but there are so many more of those than that beautiful Chevelle.
that was a stunt Chevelle --- it was actually already damaged. No restored Chevelles were harmed in the making of this movie.
