This is kinda long but felt it would be helpful to someone looking for a Megadeth type of sound The gear I used to get a nice Megadeth style sound was a Marshall MG15CF Gain:7 Bass:10 Mid:8 Treb:10 Tube Screamer TS9 (Dave uses 808) Drive:Off/9 o’clock Tone:Noon Level:3 o’clock/full. And the guitar I got closest sound with was my Vintage V100 LP copy. I love that guitar. Great sound and feel for a copy. That may vary with each guitar so be cautious. But mine is great. I set my amp and Ts up that way just noodling and got very Mustaine vibes from it so I looked up Dave’s settings and that’s a common setting he uses. Nicer amps and a ts808 or similar pedal will probably sound a little nicer but it sounded great with what I used. The most expensive part would probably be the v100 as they have different styles that vary in price. That got me a very similar sound to The System Has Failed. Sorry if this was too long but I just wanted to share it
We need more Sound Like episodes that involve the bass. You can only go so far with just the guitar. Adding the bass really takes it the extra level. You guys already do dual guitars a lot and you already add bass for context a lot. Why not just go all the way with the bass?
Whilst this is a cool idea, most bands they cover dont have a whole lot of diversity when it comes to bass equipment. Every episode would be "they use a p bass and an svt" or "we couldnt get all the special stuff they use in their rig." Imagine trying to do tool on a budget? not really gonna happen. I asked for this a couple years back but i quickly realised that all the tones you could need could be covered (on a budget) can be done with a fender rumble and a darkglass vintage od lmao
