Most of monster school animations are made in Mine-Imator. The Mine-Imator community absolutely despise monster school content, like, if you go to a dude who's an animator using Mine Imator, I can guarantee you they can (and probably will) rant about how bad it is and how it's making Mine Imator look bad for approximately 15 minutes on average.
Ohh, I remember that. I haven't been in the community for ages, but I can recall people actively making parodies of monster school. I even tried making my own, haha.
As one of those animators, I 100% agree. These animations give the creators of this program and the program itself a really bad name. It was made for people to make fun animations for minecraft stuff, not what is going on here.
Most of if not all of the people who use this program really hate monster school because of it, including all of those that i spoke to or have been in contact with.
I personally grew up on WIllcraft, and its just disgusting to see this happening.
As a member of Mine Imator Community, this is extremely true. MI's image have been tainted because of this (and other nsfw content). Which is a shame since the program was made for an easy beginner tool for those who seek Minecraft Animation.
Not to mention there's plenty of MI user that's capable of making something impressive and mindblowing that's goes unnoticed, but this does? such a shame.
Are they mass-reporting such videos, and other defending/similar content elsewhere?

I feel bad for McHorsy, the maker of the blockbuster mod. As a content creator, its one of the most powerful mods that lets you keyframe and make minecraft animations. But seeing the shit people are doing with it? I feel bad for him man...

This is why I appreciate Alan Becker's Monster School episode in his MVA series, Season Three. He understood the assignment on how to make Monster School videos without being a trendsetter, putting suggestive themes, and doing it for viewship.
He really stays true and genuine to how Monster School used to be, all the while introducing something new. The animation, story telling, fight scenes, and characterization are all the key selling points of Alan's work and I do respect that.
He's probably the only one who had posted an amazing and genuine Monster School Animation that I could think off.

Monster School used to be lively and ACTUALLY showing hostile mobs learning different aspects of MInecraft made by passionate creators, but now it's a content farm that is continuously exploited. I miss the old minecraft community so much. I'm so sorry for the kids who watch modern monster school...
Exactly, I remember I was around 7 or 8 when came across Monster School. I don't remember _everything_ -if I'm being honest I think I only watched a handful of 'em sparingly within that time frame only-but I do remember it being wholesome, with some tame mischief and shenanigans going on. There was no harm being done, it was like watching a decent kids show based around Minecraft.
So seeing how it is now after a decade later, without any sort of "update" or progression of Monster School, it's genuinely jarring and downright disgusting of how this happened with the fact it's still going on to this day.
Also, I just wanted to say, there's still some nice parts of the MC community. I watch a few MC ytbers myself still, my favourites mostly residing in Hermitcraft-which objectively, holds one of the most wholesome and nicest communities overall. And there's an added bonus of finding a hermit that suits your viewing interests too!
I still have to dedicate some time to watch at least 10 episodes from each hermit, but there's (I think?) around 30, if not more in total-all with their unique playstyles, goals, and editing in their videos!
If you're not familiar with them, I would highly recommend you check them out! ^^
considering they might look back on this and probably won't have seen the og videos of monster school, some might even consider those abominations their "Childhood"... these money laundering schemes by these channels is something i absolutely continue to despise with a burning passion.

I remember in 2016, I was contacted by MinecraftProduced and they just asked me if they could upload my content (not even relating to minecraft) in exchange for "gredits in the top of the description".
Truly an experience and was rather telling of things to come with these channels. Kind of surprised to see them still around

I remember the relatively normal Monster School from 2012 - 2014, I remember that actually being watchable and enjoyable for a small kid.
2018 was the final nail in the coffin for Monster School as the characters we use to love got horrifically basic committed to cartoon logic rather that the realistic gore and pain the mobs had from Herobrine. The co-creators were extremely sad that people were stealing their content and bastardizing them for the asshat nobles we have in our society. TH-cam is too powerful to be reduced anymore, we effectively have to nuke it to save the platforms sanity!
it all went downhill from 2016, at least then the content was a little cringe but still watchable

@@weegie3343 same, 2016 was like that tolerable smell from the school's showers of sweat and angst, but 2018 was that uncanny BO, dry farts and unmistakable feel of locker-rash.
One of Willcraft's regrets when he was animating Monster School was that his didn't look anywhere near as polished as some animators like Slamacow Studios, Element Animations, etc. I didn't watch Willcraft's Monster School videos for the animation quality - I watched them because they were unique and entertaining. The people who care about the stories they tell are the folks whose stories are often worth coming back for.

When I was younger I was sucked into stuff like this. It had to be 6 or maybe 7 years ago. I only watched the originals at first but at some point my youtube page started getting filled with weird stuff like this, it looks like it surprisingly had gotten worse too. I remember being disgusted at this stuff but I still watched it for some reason out of curiosity. I think that's part of the problem, young people don't entirely understand what they're watching and don't stop because of curiosity. At least that was my case. I don't remember why I stopped watching it but I'm glad I did and i'm glad I don't have too many memories of this stuff.
As an old minecraft monster school enjoyer, i can confirm that this is the darkest, yet the saddest rabbit hole that ever existed.
I'm just so sad that an masterpiece planned as an project transformed into something that i never had seen before.

I've never been a big fan of Minecraft, but I can respect the TH-camrs and the game itself. It's quite disturbing that these channels exist, and even more so irritating that they are more successful than thousands of smaller channels that put in much more effort. Good on you for bringing light to this topic; hopefully TH-cam actually pays more attention to it.
I used to watch monster school when it wasn't infected by elsagate. The old monster school was awesome for younger audiences. So sad to see this stuff go rotten overtime.

Classic Monster School will always have a place in my heart, the animation was good for the time (and some still look pretty good now) they were enjoyable, they made sense, they wouldn't bombard you with adjectives in the titles, or jam them with popular trends, they were just minecraft characters doing minecraft things. To see what it's become now is like one massive middle finger to my childhood.

In fact, I was one of the people that discovered this problem months or years ago. Because of these weird content creators, this might mark the “downfall of Minecraft TH-cam”. This problem also makes actual content creators (like AntVenom, stampylonghead) not being on the recommendations. This problem currently expands to a big extent where all good Minecraft TH-camrs will not be discovered by viewers. The main reason of these types of content is due to greed.
In fact, this problem currently affects ALL TH-cam content. So, this type of content should be STOPPED immediately, and let the actual content rise, and the bad ones fall.

As a veteran of Minecraft, I've been a big fan for years. I remember enjoying the very first monster school videos, and them being like cartoons to me, as i never really watched tv as a kid. TH-cam 's golden age raised me, and knowing that it will most likely not return just destoys me.
The closest thing we got to a modern monster school that's loyal to the original was Alan Becker's animation

I remember watching these when I was younger and having a lot of fun doing so. Fun, silly, and overall enjoyable. I would have NEVER guessed that Monster School would have turned into what it is today. I think I've actually seen a few of those cursed videos floating around, but never paid any mind to them because of how cringey they looked. It's honestly disgusting how they're intentionally trying to feed this kind of content to a younger audience purely for the revenue. I really hope youtube does something about it (but we all know how amazing they are at that)

Notch is honestly just a terrible, egotistical person from what I've been told. My husband was telling me something about a friend of his playing a game with him or something akin to that and they chatted a bit. The guy was just full of himself completely and belittled others, at least during that experience. Given the crap he's said publicly, I'm not surprised anymore.

Painful. I used to watch Willcraft's Monster School series as a child. Messed up to see what some greedy, morally void people will do off the back of true passion and creativity. Now an adult, I worry for kids navigating modern TH-cam at the age I was when watching the original series. Thanks for covering this, may your recommended section recover soon.
I remember watching monster school as a little kid, so it will always have a place in my heart, but what it has become scares me.
When i was a little kid i only saw one of those wierd videos, but not to long ago i logged into my ggl account i had when i was a little kid i saw the videos i had seen multible of years ago wasnt wierd, but the videos that got uploaded now was so wierd and shocked me.

I wish you would have elaborated more on Willcraft besides having him “be the guy who originally started monster school”.
His quitting TH-cam video has whole sections dedicated to his current thoughts about monster school and the many many misconceptions that he has seen regrading it, and I think acknowledging that video would be really helpful.
Because then you would learn that Willcraft initially created monster school as just a practice project to teach himself animation and didn’t consider it more than that at first and only did more of it when it popped off. And that he doesn’t consider monster school a genre but his own series that most other people copied even if they weren’t using it for malicious intent. He just wants people to make original Minecraft stuff instead of relying upon what others have already made and copied. (For the record, I don't think a ripoff automatically means it's bad since I know there were some really passionate people who made their own monster school works)
The copying is also happening with minecraft hardcore content same text at the bottom same pictures floating around when explaining something and the fast paced editing

I remember being a young, innocent kid who was shocked by any pictures or videos that were even mildly suggestive. Since I watched a lot of Minecraft content targeted towards children, Monster School was constantly in my recommended and it's just disgusting. Thank you for documenting this and sacrificing all those brain cells, I'm sure this trend will end or be taken off of youtube sooner or later.

I remember watching the Monster School as a child and slowly becoming more and more disgusted with all of it as I grew up. I really feel bad for the poor kids who do not understand what they are watching. Team TH-cam needs to take action against these channels immediately.

The main issue is shitty parents not caring what their children are watching.
It's really unfortunate that Mine-imator(I used to be a developer), a streamlined Minecraft animation program aimed to help empower new and young animators alike, is caught up in this and used to churn out almost all of this degenerative content. What should be a wholesome program that allows anyone to bring their stories to life, is tainted by this. More power to those who pour their heart and soul into faithful continuations of the genre started from Willcraft Animations, but it's best to avoid the genre altogether as an animator and avoid this like the plague imo.
If i'm being honest, around two years ago, I used to watch these videos with my siblings, a lot. They were kinda fun to watch, but looking back at it, I really do not know how I enjoyed them. lol. Thank the lord that I only watched the willcraft MineCraft School videos!

Its probably a small studio, a single person could hardly run all these channels. Most likely its an Asian animation studio as it was said by Epic.

Back then Minecraft animations like these were my go to TH-cam videos, when I was very bored I just went to TH-cam and search up "Minecraft animations" and see lots and lots of animations that were not bad, but then I grew up, I think when I was 4 or 5 when I found it, these weird Minecraft animation videos just popped up in my recommendations, I was very confused and questioned in my head "why is this weird animation here?" I was young then so I didn't really know much about pregnancy, so I just clicked it, worst and I mean WORST decision of my life.

Now I'm not old but I'm old enough to remember watching monster school videos on my little kindle fire as a kid and i remember a world of idiot mobs animated learning stuff like fighting crafting mining or brewing and shenanigan would ensue but this modern take on monster school is jsut another fun thing turning into clickbait. thanks for the awesome documentary that gave me nostalgia, mate.
That something like that is even allowed on youtube is ridiculous, especially when you think about the fact that the thumbnails are full of things, that youtube would normally ban, but that these videos are allowed on youtube kids is just braindead. Parents use youtube kids to keep their children save from bad videos and then there is content like this.

I am Vietnamese and a veteran Minecraft player with a 10-year-old brother who watches those poisoned contents on a daily basis, and I am unable to block it or do anything else. In fact, the channels that upload those videos are so numerous that I can't keep track of them all. This is a real issue for kids nowadays, when Minecraft is so popular and the content related to it is so easily accessible to them. Thank you for making this video and speaking out to save Minecraft TH-cam content and the OG Monster School.

I actually used to watch Monster School back when it was just lighthearted fun, but then I kinda forgot about it after a little while.
This was not the way I expected to re-discover it.
I would recommend you to go into the "History" part of your YT startpage, clicking on "Manage" (or similar) in the right column and outright deleting every of those videos/streams with the X that each of them has. Basically make YT forget you ever watched those...
The fact that some channels put "Monster School :" in the title and then the video is just not about monster school is just straight up clickbait

As a young kid im like 9 i am horribly disgusted by “minecraft monster school” inappropriate copycats, and I’m aware that my little brother sometimes sees these Minecraft monster school inappropriate animations and crazy Minecraft animations with preggo ladies, etc and i cant even do anything about it. I am very sad that how our childhood of Minecraft monster school animations are just shattered, with Minecraft animations having absolutely having no any context or plot whatsoever. The idea that I’m saying is that our normal childhood when youtube is is kind of popular, is just shattered with Minecraft animations going on crack, today.
someone has probably already said this, but for whatever it's worth, do you want to know why pregnancy is such a common topic (one of the most common both with this trend and elsagate)? think of one of the biggest questions young children are known to ask (to the point where it's kind of a staple joke when kids come up in more adult-oriented media), which adults are awkward and hesitant to answer: "where do babies come from?"

if you want your youtube recommended to get better just remove all of those videos from your watch history
and go to your google account settings, then privacy then look for where you can see history attached to your google account and make sure to purge everything in there, either removing one by one or just erasing a whole period of time through filters
I remember watching Monster School when I was first getting into Minecraft. I even spent most of my time building my own monster school in a flat world where I would add and name mobs that would be in the added in the next update(I had potion bar in the cafeteria that would act like sodas and fruit drinks). My only regret is that I never made my Google account to save my watch history so I could look back at what monster school videos I watched. There were so many good ones and the music that they played was such a bop. Also thank you MisterEpic for introducing me the creator of this series because I had no idea how many videos were actually his.
My Rant: It is so disrespectful to see how low this series became and it's not just Minecraft. I've seen similar things happen with Godzilla, FNF, and other big franchises yet they still exist! I can't search up Minecraft without being bombarded with cursed inappropriate videos made for people who have the brain size of a peanut. It is so wrong and TH-cam is just allowing this and other garbage content to fly around freely. Sometimes I just wish the company would go bankrupt or get a slap across the face that this is should not be official.
I remember that my mother lent me her phone and there I saw the old animations, At that time I did not know English, and the fact that these animations could be understood in any language was something very nice, but little by little those videos were becoming sexualized, my brain as a child repelled these videos and eventually stopped watching them,

I hate this so much, and it’s been going on for way too long. The biggest issue is that TH-cam literally doesn’t care. They’re profiting just as much as the people who upload the videos to their platform. It’s just disgusting, and I don’t think that anything is going to be done about it.

I actually remember watching some of the early ones when i was younger and it was funny thank god these didn't exist back then otherwise that would have been very gross. It is a shame that there are people like that who prey on unsuspecting people and also use bots to push out actual content creators from getting the views they deserve.
I remember Willcraft's Monster School, he did it as a sort of passion project.

About the thing related to comments you pointed out, it's mostly because children don't really bother commenting on videos they like, mostly because of underdeveloped fine motor skills. They just give the creator simple compliments sometimes (for example "I love those videos!! ❤").
I surely hope they put an end to those videos. When I searched Minecraft a while ago, I was horrified.
