The way he speaks in such an intelligent, clear, almost lawyer like way, and then switches into such a guttural roar when he says “IT BECOMES A HOUND” is such a perfect way to capture Percy’s character and voice.
"CANT WAIT TO DO TO YOU WHAT YOU DID TO MY MOTHER..." I felt that in my soul.
Honestly, Critical Role should just hire you to make theme songs for their characters at this point, absolutely amazing!

This I would say perfectly captures Percy. This song has his intelligence in a way, his clear realization of the dark path he watches...but it also has when he bares his fangs so to speak. When no mercy Percy comes out, and everyone becomes either hyped when he is on their side...or terrified when on the other end.
Or freaking out if he'a on their side. The rest of the gang was freaking out when he blew ofd Desmond's hand, or when he's going crazy later in the campaign/show.

100% This song reminds me of older country ballads of tragedy. The ones like El Paso where mistakes lead to death in a beautiful shakespearean way.

obsessed how every song you drop isn't just a song, it's quite literally an anthem delivering the essence of each character it seeks to represent in a manner both gritty and flawless.
I LOVE the sort of gravelly, rock-n-roll style voice you used for the chorus/ending! Reminds me of the rough, slightly unhinged quality of Taliesin’s voice in lines like “Your soul is forfeit! Die! DIE!” And using a hammer hitting an anvil for the beat? GENIUS. And the rhythm of the lyrics just has this rushing, unstoppable wildness that fits Percy so well - this feeling that you couldn’t slow down even if you wanted to, just like Percy.
I thought the clanking beat was the Pepperbox's firing pin.

I got to say this fits so perfect and my biggest is the beating of metal. Like his gun is shooting and cocking.
I was SO unprepared for the "It becomes a hound"! I got real Rag 'n Bone Man vibes from that.
I love that it's self contained, you don't need to know what critical role is to understand the journey. It reminds me of old folk ballads that me and my dad listened to, like El Paso or Seven Spanish Angels. Just a story of tragedy that ends in too much death.
I think "your name is written on steel" is the only line that you don't fully understand without watching the show. But it's also vague enough that i would be curious what kind of imagery it would invoke without the context.
This is absolutely amazing. The build up, the middle, and how it ends are all just perfection. I really hope Taliesin ends up hearing this.
I like the southern/wild west gunslinger vibes you went for on this 💯
You really should send these tunes to the cast they're sure to love them, especially Taliesin since this speaks to the darkness of his souls that he pulled Percy and Orthax from.

It would have been very smart of me if that had been on purpose 😂 I was considering pitch shifting the vocals down an octave at the part where Orthax was mentioned but I couldn’t bring myself to commit to it because it felt unnatural with the rest of the accompaniment

The first time he sang “it becomes a hound” gave me legit chills. So damn good
I run a D&D campaign set 10 years after the 1st campaign. One of the characters is a Noble from Whitestone that would have been about 10 when Percy & Vox Machina liberated Whitestone. I just sent him this song and told him his character knows it by heart.
I love that gritty southern gothic music and electric guitar is canon in your campaign
just listened to this now after seeing it had been uploaded (i love "far from me") and oh my god it's amazing. "Can't wait to do to you what you did to my mother" has got to be one of my favourite lines in this song. incredible!

I'm having such a hard time writing a comment because I love literally everything about this. The lyrics slap, as always. The growl in your voice is PERFECT for the emotion and vibes of the song. I'm in LOVE with the instrumentals. As someone who struggles with instrumentals, I'm in awe of how you managed to weave in tension and dissonance so well. The heavy, mechanical beat is also one of my favorite musical tropes (tropes is definitely not the right word here lol). Incredible job again!!!
