Grog is my favorite character in CR and as a father now that struggled to over come his own violent anger the line “reborn as a protector of the little and the weak” brought tears to my eyes and made me think of holding my sons as babies. And how now as their father until my last breath it is my duty and my honor to protect them. Thank you

4 years ago I would have fit in with the Herd of Storms I had little care for others and I didn't care who got hurt by my rage but no but now I am a father and now I will use my rage to protect those I care about and the wicked will feed my flames

The scene that will always make me cry is Grog realizing that he's nearly killed Pike in his blind rage. Even in the dnd session Grog and Travis both were just stunned and speechless, it tears me up.

@@ChaseNoseworthyI mean, he was the one who critted on the groups feelings just by asking if they know his mother's name. Maybe write it from the perspective of him right before leaving VM, when he was in a darker spot and let the comedian side drop for a moment when he saw his daughter.

The quotation marks set up the lies, and the reveal, "I will stand between the lion and the fawn that it would eat" Masterpiece. No other words. I really hope Travis sees this. It's funny, this song was made specifically for Grog. But I think it fits a redeemed Dark Urge from Baldur's Gate 3 just as well.
I was thining the same thing but about Kratos. Born a Spartan, a warrior, and how he must eventually protect his son Atreus!
It also fits the character of Guts incredibly well. For his whole life, Gambino, Griffith, and the Beast of Darkness whisper lies into his ear, but the tortured, damaged man underneath all the suffering, rage, vengeance, and heartbreak still resolves to protect his loved ones and rise above his inner demons.
The line "I will stand between the lion and the fawn that it would eat" sends my mind back to the scene in the Conviction arc where Guts blocks Mozgus from reaching Casca, declaring that the mad priest will never touch her again.

Grog being the one that's wedging himself in between the innocents and the danger, trying to do away with the stigma that has been put on him by his tribe and their deeds in Tal'Dorei and do good despite everything and everyone, now That's what I am here for. Holy crap this is fantastic. The vocals are incredible, but the lyrics are just perfect. What a fantastic song covering Grog's character, and the dichotomy of his past and all the lessons that were hammered into him, versus him growing into the role of a protector. Just incredible. I've watched every episode of critical role as well as Vox Machina, and this is such a perfect summary of Grog. Doing good makes him feel like he's failing his herd, but doing evil just isn't in his nature

When i was created my first Blood Hunter (one character class, made by Matt Mercer), i didn't even realized, that how much this song inspired his background, until about half a year later, when i lokking up some long-time not listened songs...
The lines "I will stand between the lion and the fawn that it would eat" and "On the wicked my blade wil feed" are so fitting the class description, i doesn't even know, how i missed that part then.
(Those, who are not familiar with the class, a short description: They fight against different kind of evil creatures with the policy of "fight with fire against the fire", as they intentionally use some method - a pact of a lesser warlock-type patron, the curse of lycanthrophy, some necromantic ritual to get closer to the undead or simply a Witcher-like mutagene-craft - to get to know their enemy better, and fight against them. Most peoples would describe them as "monsters, who fight against other monsters". The class itself was inspired by the Witcher series, so the similarities between them doesn't end here, but some of it more-or-less splitted among the subclasses.)

YO the entire song is fantastic (of course) but specifically something about the way the higher strings cut out at the very last "feed" before resolving is SUCH a good choice.
