The art in this book is some of my favorite comic art of all time. It has such a classic style I’m surprised it isn’t held in higher regard. It’s pretty amazing.
...i just got this today for $88.00 cheap on ebay!....with the RARE Direct Market cover! I didnt hesistate once i saw the price and cover! Thanks for this review...once i saw the bronze age Dracula style art...i said this is for me!
Great review as always! I agree that characters are more interesting if they have a great supporting cast. That is one reason why I enjoy reading Spider-Man's SA stories. Stan Lee and Ditko/Romita introduced and developed a strong supporting cast and roster of villains for Spidey. That is also why the Fantastic Four and X-Men appeal to me. The focus is not just on one character but it shifts and that makes it more interesting in my opinion.
Nice review as always. I probably won't pick up this one or #1, but I'm considering getting #3 as I always hear good things about the Englehart run. Looking forward to your review of it 👌🏻
Not much of a story as such, but in an intro Gene Colan writes about how he approached Stan with the idea of introducing a new African-American character to work alongside Cap and how the idea took off
@@sergioacosta9712 towards the end of volume 1 there's an arc by Jim Steranko that was the first point for me when the stories started to really evolve into something more interesting

Well, I'm looking forward to an overview by you of volume 3. I did appreciate this one, though.

Yeah I definitely agree that's a big part of what made Spidey so good right from the start!
Would love to see volume 3 review!
It's on my to-do list!
I have the first and third volume but missing volume two and it pains me.😂😬
I feel the same pain with the Thor omnibuses, I've got volumes 1 and 3 of those but also missing 2 😅

Yeah I'd say Vol 3 is the best of these three volumes overall, Englehart's run is a good read
I have vol 3 but havent read it yet
@@TheComicBookTrove Englehart’s run on Cap is my favorite so far. Pretty much anything he writes is amazing!

I honestly cannot find this book at a reasonable price. I have vol 1 and 3 and hope it gets reprinted
I'm sure it will be at some point
i am waiting on a reprint as well its the only cap omni i am missing. im going to skip the coats omni i have the 2 OHCs for him.
Me too do not have vol 2. I also have the Jack Kirby one.
Where in volume one does it start to get away from the childish repetitive tone? I se volume two has more consistent stories.
