I almost have the same opinion on BW that a lot of people do with SV where theres so much broken stuff that people generally kinda dislike that you'd prefer almost any suspect than no suspect at all
My dog was distracting me by trying to convince me to give him my entire bread, but i know that we cannot let Finchinator get away with this Alakazam business.
theoretically zam SOUNDS like it would be extremely helpful for the quality of life for the format because its filled with overwhelmingly fast hard hitting threats and zam with sash always lives atleast two hits and it out speeds and hits hard enough to be good. it SOUNDS like it would help teams to be stable and NOT get completely run over when something goes haywire like a stray crit or flinch at a bad time .
I think this is yet another example of an unstable equilibrium, where removing Alakazam would only make things worse unless you ban a bunch of other broken mons. My thoughts: (1) Sash Zam is crucial defensively for many offense-leaning sand teams that would otherwise get bowled over by e.g. drag mag or Volcarona (2) Zam's offensive presence holds back a lot of borderline broken stuff like Thundurus, Keldeo, and Latios (3) the pokemon which do well into Zam (such as scarf Landorus, Garchomp, and Latios; Jirachi, Tyranitar) are healthy mons for the meta (or for Latios, at least, healthier than its other sets). Zam is admittedly harmful in that TTar is often forced into running spdef chople, but, still, any well-built sand team will have plenty of counterplay available without compromising much against non-Zam teams. (4) life orb Zam is significantly less healthy, but there's a lot of opportunity cost in running it since suddenly every scarfer and most priority users can threaten it out and it can't handle the other broken stuff (e.g. Volcarona, substitute Keldeo, agility Thundurus). Sash Zam also generally has the advantage in a mirror, and mons being checked by other variants of themselves isn't per se unhealthy (see Landorus-T) Choosing two of Latios, Reuniclus, and Zam generates an offensive core that's about as broken as any other pair from those three, but all of them together is hard to fit without foregoing spikes or leaving a glaring defensive hole. Still, banning one might help since it would be easier to prepare just for the other two. Latios is off the table and Reuniclus just failed a suspect so of course Zam is next in line. But Reuniclus remains the best choice imo, since it's harder to remove via pursuit, can still function after being paralyzed (just with more rng), and has the best match-up against balanced structures without helping much against e.g. a rain boosted Keldeo.
I am uneducated lobotomite, but it sounds like the problems with Alakazam and Reuniclus boil down to how Magic Guard interacts with the Gen 5 OU metagame.
Zam has long been one of all time favorites. I spam Zam in every gen. Love that he's getting the respect on his name. But dang, gen 5 was his heyday. Don't take that from him :( And I've long believed his life orb set is the superior set. It can ohko or 2hko everything that isn't blissey/chansey until you run modest psyshock...then you have the best stallbreaker in the game but is horrible into the plethora of 340+ speed demons.
I'm comparatively new to BW, so correct me if I'm wrong. But I think Kadabra could have a niche as a diet Zam. Think about it: 339 speed and spA stat is not terrible at all, and still outruns many threats while now being less centralizing due to not outrunning everything. 105 base sp. attack is still solid, if less useful, and it still retains Magic Guard. Could possibly do some more support stuff like thunder wave, encore, screens e.t.c. while still cleaning up. The biggest loss in my eyes would be Focus Miss, but you still have Signal Beam, Shadow Ball, HP Fire/Ice, and Grass Knot. With the increasing prominence of LO Zam which dies in one hit half the time anyway, I can't imagine it's implausible to slap one on Kadabra and basically have a worse Zam as a niche option for psyspam or sand + spikes balance teams. Probably impossible, but the thought of banning Zam and then just having Kadabra become a thing in OU is hilarious to me.
Scarf chomp checks both volcarona with rock slide and alakazam with dual chop, love that pokemon. (EDIT: You talked about it later on the video lol) I don't think Alakazam is so overwhelming to be honest, it gives another option to help with pokemon such as latios, dragons, fighting 108 speed guys... The biggest problems with Gen 5 for me is Latios and scald.
The French name for Tyranitar, McMeghan uses French nicknames a lot and it's become a running joke of sorts, a few years ago it was even referred to as "cif" by people in the know
Do you ever think of making any non-Pokémon related rants, even just as one-offs? Always thought it’d be nice to listen to a 30 min bkc video on emotions or the complexities of life

Alakazam rising from UU to BL to OU to potentially Ubers over the generations is a monumental story. Magic guard putting in work.
The "guessed that right" line syncing up with the Lando nickname at 1:53 was a beautiful piece of filmmaking.
Modest Zam being slower than Latios is saving the tier
It's not 1 point slower , it's 11 point slower , modest zam speed ties with timid 105 speed. Latios has 110.
I want to like, but you missed a 1 :(
@@EggscellentTree Was thinking of base 125. Will edit

BKC posting while I'm actually awake and browsing TH-cam is great, even if the only reason I've ever played BW was to run shell smash cloyster lol.
15 minutes? i didnt know BKC was doing TikTok content now
My dog was distracting me by trying to convince me to give him my entire bread, but i know that we cannot let Finchinator get away with this Alakazam business.
Visual stimuli is back!!!!!
Crit on a Focus Miss? That guy was hacking
Wake up babe, new BKC just dropped

Life orb charge beam goes crazy
Any day where BKC uploads a video talking about BW OU is a good day in my book

Do NOT touch Reuniclus.
A 15 minute bkc video might be the only way for me to get to see the ending of the vid
So this should really be called "The Alaka-Zamazing Factor (BW OU)"
Dugtrio & Sun were fundamental to the tier but they've been gone for a long time
if zam got banned, scarftar would once again be on top of the world, what a time that would be
We need a 3 hr "Sun in BW OU: a tragic history" asap!! ☀️
Can you make a video on ABR's controversial ADV viability rankings?
I'm exacerbating
Instead of banning zam, why don't they bring arceus bug to OU as another check to this monster?
I JUST clocked into work ty for uploading man 🙏
Shoutout to Jirachee's Habs team dating the hell out of this replay. Markov-Subban was special man.

awesome ice hockey related nickname theme by Jirachee
Every time he says Zam I think of big zam from game grumps lol
Big Zam from gundam is what I think of

Have you been enjoying gen 4 ubers being on the ladder?
At this point, fuck it, lets just go with the unban everything and turn OU into Ubers plan.
If Reuniclus didn't get banned, then why would people vote to ban Alakazam? It's not like you see Zam wars that determine every OU game!
It kinda does actually, but I'm against this ban proposition.

This really begs the question, how good would magic guard Alakazam be in gen 4 OU/Ubers ?

this is a surprise to me
would love to see you do some gen 4 ubers laddering since is out right now
Thank you bkc
BKC I have realized I have no clue what Tyrannocif is and I need your expertise
