I've had the limited Hybrid for almost 2 months. The redesigned body style and more powerful engine were the deciding factors in selecting the Tucson vs the Santa Fe Calligraphy. 3 year maintenance pkg, Bluelink features and the Hyundai warranty are included bonuses. The interior is very attractive...a microfiber duster keeps it clean. This is my subjective pov. ☺

Lack of knobs doesn't bother me. I don't miss the volume knob. I use the volume control on my steering wheel 99% of the time anyway. All the safety and driver assistance tech and excellent drive quality and performance make it worthwhile. I bought the 2022 Tucson hybrid limited after test driving also the top lines of the RAV4, XC40, and CR-V--Tucson hybrid limited beat em all in my book.

If you told me 14 or so years ago that I would buy a Hyundai and spend about $40K for it, I would have laughed you right out of the room! However, in 2022, here we are! I just got mine two weeks ago, and I love it! I went with the Tuscon Hybrid Limited, and believe me, the extra features on this trim, if you have the budget for it, are money well spent. I did also test the standard gas version, and while it also was very nice, the Hybrid is most definitely the way to go, again, if your budget allows. The safety features are among the best in class. The drive is super smooth, and it has great pickup/acceleration... on the Hybrid version (I admit, the standard gas version drove very nicely too, but the reduced horsepower and torque is apparent). The tech is top notch all around (and I consider myself a techie). Finally, the exterior styling is just, in a word, innovative!
I know the radio and instrument panel for the lack of wireless Android Auto (on the limited version) and the lack of a knob for volume gets a bit of a bum rap, but I think the criticism is a bit overblown on this. Though I agree it is curious the lack of Wireless Android Auto on the Limited trim, the built in GPS honestly is notably better than what you would get with Android Auto anyways... plus it utilizes the full ultrawide screen (which Android Auto only uses part of), and you can still wirelessly charge your phone (bluetooth works perfectly good for casting your playlist on the superior Bose sound system, by the way). As far as the volume keys, I think most of us will find ourselves using the steering wheel mostly for that anyway, so that seems a bit nitpicky, in my opinion, in the grand scheme of things. In short, it looks great, it feels great to drive, has the best standard manufacturer warranty on the market, and just has a lot of great innovations.

Some reviews of the 2022 Tuscan point to the lack of any KNOBS. The reviewers wonder if Hyundai didn't learn anything from Honda when they removed the KNOBS and everyone went crazy, WHERE ARE THE KNOBS? I wonder if those reviewers have looked at a Tesla with NO KNOBS. Tesla cars are selling like hotcakes with NO KNOBS. I think some reviewers need to move into the 21st century. Oh, I looked around my house and saw that my stove has ONLY BUTTONS, my refrigerator has ONLY BUTTONS, my Google home hub has ONLY BUTTONS, my thermostat has ONLY BUTTONS. JUST SAYING!!!

It's just convenient and frankly, much safer to drive. At least with the knob you can reach for it without having to look for it. I have volume control access on my steering wheel, but it's not as quick as the knob when you have to lower or raise the volume. But on the other hand, they removed the gear shift and opted for push button.

Carguru, you probably have access to Hyundai people; so I’d like to ask if you can you ask Hyundai to stop placing the turn signals on the rear bumper bottom. Style wise it might be cool but from a driving, safety and visibility standpoint especially in traffic it isn’t easily viewable from drivers behind you. Place it higher up, this is where being normal is better. 👍🏼

Which one will give better MPG if I have to drive longer trips like 200-300 miles at a stretch? Normal Hybrid or Plugin Hybrid? I am not considering to buy fully electric at this time because of charging station issue.

I just got the SEL Convenience Hybrid AWD model yesterday and they have addressed the criticism about not having a volume control: mine has a roll type control on the left side of the display monitor. I am very happy with it so far: it drives great and has a beautiful interior and exterior. I am still learning all the features. I really like its having Apple Carplay which allows me to use Waze or Google Maps in place of having to have a built-in navigation system. My previous car was a 2012 Hyundai Sonata which was a great car, but it did start having some issues after 10 years which led to my decision to trade it. I think Hyundai makes great products.

I have the Hybrid Blue trim that includes the radio control buttons and roller knobs. I'd much rather have those than a larger screen that is touch only. This vehicle is fantastic! Super quiet and smooth ride. The turbo engine plus electric motor gives it excellent acceleration. It gets more fuel efficient each month. I've had it for 2 months and my average MPG has gone from 30 mpg to currently 40 mpg after 2000 miles. I wanted AWD and the price difference between gas AWD and hybrid AWD was small so I went hybrid. Well worth the extra purchase price since gas prices shot up a month after I purchased it!

You want that knob only because you are a reviewer, NOT an actual user. I have all the knobs and real buttons on my sonata hybrid, but I rarely use them. Hyundai's steering wheel control is designed really well that if you are the owner, you won't miss those knobs. Only if you are a reviewer or a renter who is not familiar with the design, you would want that knob for a no-brainer switch between vehicles.

I have one of these. It does hustle pretty good. Through corners it is ok. Body roll is more than I expected. The suspension is on the soft side, not really to my liking. But the worst part is the tendency for the rear end to take a little hop sideways if you encounter a bump in a high speed corner. Yup, the lack of buttons on the center console is stupid. On the plus side, the voice commands work fairly well. The only really good safety feature added to the limited is the surround view camera. The rest of stuff is crap.

After a year of ownership of a bright red Tucson in top trim with white interior I can testify this car is almost perfect and looks great. These carves have a function. They broaden the wheel areas. And that piano black gloss does fine. Just use a little cloth to dust off dust. I do that once a month and it stays perfect.
The only downside is the Lane Assist has to be disabled after every start. And there is no regular Cruise Control. That so called Smart CC is not smart at all. I only use the emergency assists, not the driving assists. But the car still amazes me every day I drive it. Best car ever, for me.

We have the plugin here in Sweden already, have not checked it out, just de hybrid and it looks really nice if you choose the advanced version (most gear, your limited I think). Both the mild hybrid and the hybrid has big road tax nowadays and the plugin grant you like 3000us cash back after 6 month owned by the goverment. Also only 40us in road tax a year compared to up to 900 for the mild hybrid and like 700 for the hybrid. So considering that the plugin is the way to go if you look at it in the long run, if you don't want to go fully electric that is, then you get a 8000us cash back on any full electric car :) I have the 'old' Tucson limited right now, considering the new one..

Your personal dings on the exterior aesthetics are yours alone. May be a little more car reviewing and a little less personal commentary. Other than that, pretty good review.

OMG! So many reviewers and older people moaning, winging, complaining about the lack of buttons etc. This is the 21st century, there are multiple ways of controlling the volume etc without buttons, get use to them and move with the times people. If you don’t like vehicles without physical buttons, simply just don’t look at it, buy it or consider it, but seriously you all need to stop with your negative comments just because it does not suit your needs or you don’t like the manufacturer or vehicle. Frankly if you have nothing positive or constructive to say about anything then just keep it shut. There is already too much negativity in this world today and people don’t need you older generations or you reviewers jumping on the band wagon.

A big let down for as long as Hyundai took to release a new Tuscan. The powertrains are both very underwhelming. They hybrid is not smooth or fast. The touch capacitive controls instead of knobs and buttons for hvac and stereo controls is a huge step backwards. A miss in my opinion and I love Hyundai/Kia/Genesis products.
