I can’t find the inside breaker box anywhere!🤷🏼‍♀️ so I pulled the thermostat off the wall and the fan finally stopped! Was so afraid to go to sleep Incase the fan burned up and caught something on fire! Thank you for your videos! Now off to sleep! 🤦‍♀️

For anyone who might need this:
He says in the video that if you disconnect your thermostat and the blower, or handling unit, turns off then it’s a faulty thermostat but I don’t think that’s correct. When I removed my thermostat my blower kept running and would only stop when I opened the breaker for the furnace. He says in reason 5 that in this case it could be a faulty module.
In order to completely rule out the thermostat, you should disconnect your thermostat and pull the breaker to get the blower to stop running. Close your circuit breaker and see if your blower comes on. If it does the problem is not your thermostat. If it doesn’t than the problem is your thermostat.
I did this and narrowed the problem down to the thermostat, which I replaced, and the problem went away. It must have been internally shorted.
Overall this video is very good. I couldn’t have figured this problem out without it. Thank you!

We have a gas furnace. Blower is on and not stopping, but I don't feel air moving through the vents. I suspect a flap or something in the ductwork that's temperature controlled is still closed.....? It's 2am, I can't really call anyone. Can I turn off the breakers in the main panel and deal with it in the morning? I'm guessing the gas value would be either electrically or temperature controlled, such that I don't need to worry about leaking gas ......? I had to unplug the furnace, that breaker also controls the garage door, so I has to leave it on. Pilot light (s) are still on, hope they'll be ok. I will try to actually diagnose the issue in the morning. Your video makes it seem so simple, I really hope I can fix it!! Thank you for posting this troubleshooting information!

Nice video. Okay, suppose the blower is NOT blowing when it's supposed to?
Twice, after overnight severe thunder storms here in Houston, the next morning the blowers on the AC units were not blowing. We have three 5-ton units. All three blowers ceased to function.
Everything else in the shop works. Everything! Including the 5-ton units outside the building. They come on, and they push cold air into the housing cavity. ( You can easily feel the cold air when you remove the air filters) But.. the blowers do not come on and blow the cold air into the shop.
This is the second time in 3-4 weeks that this has happened. After the first time, the AC crew replaced those blowers.
This time, we can't get them to come back for service.
We've been without AC for 7 weeks now.
I do know that there are no surge protectors anywhere inside nor outside any of the three units.
What would cause "all three" blowers to go out after a severe thunderstorm?
    Just seems so odd.
    Thanks!
    Hot and Sweaty
By the way, those three AC units were installed 1 year ago almost to the date.

Excellent video on troubleshooting why the air handler fan continues to run. My issue was the sequencer and didn't realize it. I had unplugged that connector since it also had wiring for the strip heater which I don't use so that's why I unplugged it. When I plugged the connector back in the board, the fan started working correctly. Self inflicted but lesson learned. Thanks for sharing your HVAC knowledge.

The AC was working just fine. I left town for a few days and turned it off by turning off 2 breakers on the wall. Apparently, it was very hot, and the temperature inside was close to 100.
When I turned the breaker ON, the blower did not turn on. What could possibly go bad from high temp? I checked the thermostat, compressor... OK. It is clearly with the blower. Looks like a control board inside does not have 24v. Like it lost power. Are there any heat breakers that could melt up? What about just short them - I do not use Em Heat anyway. Please advise.

I wonder if my thermostat is bad! I will show this video to my husband when he is off his work call. My scenario: It is winter, the A/C system is turned OFF and the FAN is in the OFF position but air is coming out of the registers! The air conditioning unit outside is not actually running but the air coming through the registers is cold due to the outside air temp, I think. My baseboard heating system is on but is controlled by a separate thermostat in a different room.

    Good video, nice details!
Have a question, I have a Tappan 92.1 H.E. gas furnace, the thermostat went blank with good batteries in it, and new batteries, battery terminal had some bad corrosion on it, cleaned it up with vinigar.. then it came on, went off.. bought new replacement similiar model, and it did turn on cycle ignitor, and both fans ignited, Just before that I had a blocked n cracked j-tube, cleaned it, trimed and reinstalled. Also the power relay had a burnt Hole in it.. arouand where the two parts connect I believe.
I was going to order another board, but will take some time to receive.
Am I able to use the furnace for heat safely at night, or before going to bed and shut it down...??
I know the blower fan has two speeds to it ... low and high.. have not checked, but the high kicks on I believe..(definitely not the low speed.
10-15 minutes ran it, from the new thermostat installed. Also jumped it from the board with no thermostat before buying new one. Old one came on, then off after 5 or so minutes.
Everything seems to cycle on, and off when shut down. Will check if it shuts down when it reaches optimum temp. (think it did but forgot)
Part number T9AV1D12-22 Power Relay. that is damaged on from, smoke residue around front rear of board not burnt .
Appreciate adice on being able to run the furnace temporarily/ sparingly while a new control board comes.

Hmm so I sometimes get little to no voltage coming out of the control bord (very intermittent) everything else before the last step is good. Is this pretty much guaranteed to be the cuntrol board? They are expensive AF so it would be an expensive miss diagnoses

Good explanation. I have short of not exact but similar issue. My AC unit keeps running even after set temp is reached at thermostat. For ex I set temp at 74 and system turns on and once it reached 74 it stays on for more than 25-30 min. However if I turned the set temp higher than actual temp than system turns off immediately. Also if I manually toggle the off button from thermostat it turns off.
On average my unit runs for almost 1 hours even whenever I check the thermostat it’s at 74. What could be the issue?

I'm trying to trouble shoot this problem but it happens intermittently. I can't force it to happen. It happens like 1 time every 2 weeks. It seems to happen in the middle if the night so my wife forces me to get up and flip of and on the furnace.
Is there a way to pinpoint this problem if it's intermittent? I'm guessing it's the fan relay or high limit switch malfunctioning. I'm confused because it goes into a regular state of working weeks at a time. Would you guess the problem is narrowed down to a 120v switch that is bonding a switch to stay live due to heat and overcurrent? As opposed to a thermostat or possible low power shorts from the thermostat?

Excellent video.. What this video doesn't tell you was that the problem finds YOU sometimes.. My Blower circuit board relay contactors must have fused together, and that burned plastic smell was pretty obvious... Causing the blower to run continuously.. After a couple of days the relay literally burned up and scorched the circuit board. blower kept running
Since the Rheem AHU was over 10 years old, the original circuit board was no longer available.. Had to hire an AC guy to rewire the replacement, which I HATE TO DO... Cost over $200
This year decided to start replacing the electricalsthat hadn't been replaced/failed yet.. AHU Blower transformer and capacitor.. Cost $20.. Why wait for failure?
Then outside replaced the contactor and dual capacitor.. Another $20
Added a hard start kit.. $30

I have a heat pump in a condo and my fan won't shut off when the temperature in the house reaches the set temperature. If I hit my inside unit a few times with the palm of my hand it shuts off. When the thermostat calls for heat or ac again the blower comes on but stays on again when the temperature is met. Is this a bad relay or something else in your opinion?

Very informative thank you so much we have had a HVAC man out here twice first he did maintenance but we have to turn the blower off by the circuit breaker because it does not shut off it keeps running but the temperature on the thermostat keeps getting hotter and hotter and hotter when we turn it off at the breaker and then flip it back on after it's set for a few minutes it will turn the air back on.

Need help. The red wire that comes from the sequencer and then goes back to the board fried that white 9 pin connector and that whole wire runs warm and is discolored I assume from the heat. I replaced the connector but it still runs constantly and also won't cool (no a\c). Any idea what might be causing that? Also I replaced the sequencer about a year ago or so when it just blew hot air constantly if that helps. Hope to hear from you. Thanks

When it is hotter out my attic AC fan will come on even though the thermostat is set to "off" and the fan is set to auto. It will go off only when it gets eventually gets cooler as sun sets. It will run with thermo pulled. So the attic temp seems to have an effect. Thoughts?

First of all, thank you for the informative video! My fan blower wouldn't turn off even after I disconnected the fan wire from my thermostat. It stayed on from about 1am to 7am and finally turned off. This has happened like this twice now. I believe it's either cb or the relay. Unit is a single stage heat pump. Presently, the unit is working as it should but I know there's a problem. Will I be able to accurately troubleshoot with my multimeter if it's not currently malfunctioning? Has anyone encountered this before?

That is all great information, but what about a blower that is running but running very slowly? There are no shorts in the motor and it runs fine when I turn the fan switch to ON,but in the Auto position it runs very slowly, which would typically be a shorted winding in the motor along with a main contactor that opens only one side of the line. Since the motor is not shorted to ground and is NOT an ECM motor why would it be turning slowly??

I have the fan running when I put thermostadt on heat or em heat. Tomorrow I will bring my meter to test ohms and voltage. My fan relay appears to be soldered into the board. If it turns out to be the relay stuck closed can a generic relay be used between the thermostadt and existing relay. Board is obsolete. Amana bba36a2a air handler. Heat only being used. Pulled the old ac unit out r22.

  • @nealwright5630
    @nealwright5630 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Ours is a combo deal. When the unit runs for awhile, the fan hangs. Pulling the thermostat stops it, but a new thermostat does the same thing replacing the thermostat works fine for awhile, and the fan eventually hangs again until i pull the thermostat.
