Well, you must’ve got one of the earlier models. They didn’t have quite the quality control fit and finish as some of the rest of them. I got my AP 5 AM about a year ago and the finish is immaculate. The worlds are perfect and I’ve ever shot.
MKE has been making them for decades. This is a new Century Arms import (ordered it from Atlantic Firearms I believe). I had higher hopes as they fill foreign government contracts and use “hk tooling” but clearly some workers and quality control people were slacking in my opinion. I would not have let it out of the factory like that. Still have to shoot it against my Zenith.
Interesting, Thanks for your time making the video. I have both the HK SP5 and SP5K along with a AP5. I'm happy with all of them zero issues after 1000's of rounds fired. I only use real HK mags in all of them and make sure the ammo has a more round nose profile, not to flat nose. Gold Dot Hp's function 100% in all three also. Funny thing gun to gun my AP5 has better welds than the HK SP5K. The HK SP5 is the best finished of all three. Love all three of mine won't sell any and am considering buying a AP5 P or M model soon.

As a Police Officer we only used Gold Dots for our MP5’s. Overall we used Gold Dots for duty loads, but shot cheaper ammo for training with our Glocks and AR’s, but the MP5’s were Gold Dot 124gr only. They worked great, for function and stopping power in real world.
Hi, cool video. I just got one of these, it came with a mount from MKE, I want to put an optic on it- looking at some of the cheap sig romeo 5's on ebay- will any type of romeo 5 work, or do I need a specific one for this model? I have an ap5p if that makes a difference. Thanks!
@@jarethgar what type of mount is it? Is it the two clamp picatinny rail? Or a single clamp that’s flat with holes on top? I am not a fan of using a two clamp longer rail on a P/K that is shorter (good on the longer MP5 types). I am on FB, X, and Truth Social (don’t go to them often though). If you post a picture I could tell you more. Just be careful with the longer picatinny rails as some are not rounded on the front and could scrape your knuckles doing reloads/locking the charging handle back.

Nice video man but my mke is nothing like yours mine has been the best the, the zenith had a welded on pic rail which is just ridiculous, and I’m pretty sure braces and stuff are more of a pain to deal with ,first video I’ve seen someone saying the zenith over mke just keep doing research if people are reading this looking to buy one lol
I kind of agree… Zenith used to import MKE. MKE used to have a bad reputation. Zenith stopped importing and making their own USA ones. Century picked up the MKE imports. I had better hopes for MKE, but the one I got and others have seen, show it’s just a sweat shop operation where you may or may not get a good one for fit/finish. If I get more funds next year, I might buy a PTR. My HK is best, but at $3K+ it’s a lot. My two clones cost about the same as 1 HK. Buy once, cry once…
They seem to be hit or miss. MKE has been in the game for a while and I expected better. Years ago under Zenith import they had the same issues and figured they had them solved. But I guess even under Century the can be hit or miss still.

You seem to have gotten a bit of a lemon AP5P Mine shows none of those flaws Id get your ffl to return it for a replacement
It looks a little rough here and there but I think overall it's nice.
I do like the platform. I had higher hopes for the MKE fit/Finish.
The MKEs seem a little hit and miss. I got a good one with my full size AP5, but I've seen some others that have sloppy fit and finish.
I had hoped by now MKE had better quality control I guess for fit and finish.

I also own a Z5RS that is exemplary in fit and finish Not sure whats up at MKE

If you can afford HK it is the way to go. If not, the new USA Zenith gets my vote, over the Century MKE.

I did not look into the PTR’s that hard, but they do seem good. After my MKE I would probably do PTR or Zenith USA.
