I own a gun very similar to this one (B&T GHM-9) and can confirm B&T makes a sweet and customizable PCC/PDW. Got a brace on it now but cant wait to SBR it eventually
got 2 of them. apc9k and limited. the 9k is one of the most fun guns Ive ever shot. truly is a masterpiece. w/ the right suppressors these guns are absolutely amazing.
In Canada , we can buy all the barrel length semi- auto variants with OEM or aftermarket stocks. I have 6.9” GHM9 w/ folding stock and a SPC with a milspec AR buffer tube and adjustable stock. The 18.7 “ versions of the APC/GHM9 /SPC were issued in Canada as non-restricted variants for those without a restricted license or for ease of purchase and transport. The SBR versions ( under 18.6” in Canada ) require a restricted RPAL license, an RCMP issued registration certificate and added regulations on transport, storage and can only be fired at a licensed range. Mine have been 100% reliable - but the SPC in particular gets really dirty which is a downside of the blowback operation .
I was once lucky to be at the range one day and a guy was there with his full-auto MP5. We got along well immediately and he offered me up a magazine worth of fun. It was a great bit of fun but I could tell it could be a cantankerous piece of kit if it wanted to be like that. He tried out a mag of my reloads as well and was very happy with them. So much that he cleared me out of what I had with me of my bulk loads. 😊 At some point I want to try out a B&T. Dangerous proposition as that is how I became a CZ guy just because I got curious about their pistols after I had bought my 452 Ultra Lux.
I just picked up my B&T suppressor for my SP5 last week and have so many other B&T inspired mods (folding style “”brace””, etc.) that I love. I’m very happy they opened a US based suppressor plant to be able to sell legally here.

Many people have said this is currently the best SMG on the market with the Pro model fitted with the telescoping buttstock loved by many including me. The Hydraulic buffer is also used by FN to great effect for recoil mitigation and bolt control and it certainly looks like they were onto a good idea. When HK released the UMP the writing was already on the wall for the MP5 with guns like the ACP-9 the final nail in the venerable MP5's coffin. Welcome to the future !!!!! Someone can program the machines to make the parts but it still takes a human to come up with the designs. 😎🇦🇺👍
The best guns channel in the world! In fact Ian is the GOAT in terms of wisdom about guns, hands down. I follow this channel since the start, ( with different accounts), and no one can find one bad video made by this Gentleman 👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👌💯
As an amateur gun designer, I wanted to design a lower receiver for the HK33 that used the AR magazine and AR trigger assembly and special bolt catch of course. During this process, a few revisions were required on the barrel trunnion and sheet metal body, but since I did not have the HK33 CAD designs, I could not do anything, but B&T would consider doing something about this, I presented my idea, the rest is up to B&T.
3:27 is actually not true. The lower receiver is also serialized. There is a plaque with the serial number on the underside of the magwell, between the mag and the trigger guard. You can see it in the video at 4:19. It HAS to be serialized anyway, due to its availability as semi-auto or select-fire version and their corresponding differences in the trigger group!
I purchased an APC9K Pro earlier this year and it is absolutely awesome. I also bought a Dead Air Wolfman for it with the tri-lug hub adapter. With subs, it functions flawlessly and is crazy quiet. It sounds like a staple gun. I can’t recommend it enough.

Heck, HK themselves want the MP5 to be replaced. That’s what the UMP is for.*
Thanks for a great look at a very interesting gun Ian. Having designed an airsoft gun using an extrusion, I would say that one of the biggest advantages of designing with a major extrusion is a big reduction in tooling costs. Tooling costs for steel stamping dies can be quite high and they take a while to rework until they give you well stamped parts. Extrusion dies are comparatively quite cheap. Like $1000 bucks cheap, generally with very little need for rework cycles. The costs of machining aluminum have become quite economical. Aluminum cuts fast and cutting tool life on carbide tools is excellent. Also, on the R&D side: if you can think in prismatic extruded shapes, it also turns out that making proof of concept prototypes is easier. Making the general shape of the interior is generally easier than making complicated 3d shapes that are common with stamped steel. Also the stiffness of thicker walled extruded parts easily makes light rigid forms that aren't as springy as stamped steel. From a manufacturing standpoint, extruded forms provide excellent utility for firearms.
Need one of these that takes 10mm magnum double-stack HK mags for personal use with that sig p320 grip for the trigger assembly for personal, sporting use. Would be nice if the barrel were a bit longer and really no need for the lever release for that vertical . Love that M-LOK is built directly into the handguard, with rails screw fastened to the hand guard. Should be the industry standard.
The canadian barrel was 18.5 so that it could be classified as non-restricted and fired off of approved ranges and purchased by people with the basic firearms license
I really like this and I would choose this over the MP5, and I love the MP5. The hydraulic buffer is pretty brilliant. I wonder how that system would perform with a roller delay or rotary delay system. I bet it would be really soft shooting. I wish we could get the Swiss made versions in full auto.
I like engineering but I am not especialy a great fan of fire arms. But how Ian Mac Callum does explain the thing is so excellent that I just enjoy listen to him!
I compete with a B&T GHM9 up in Canada. Really like their gear, gonna have to get myself a longer PCC for world's in Alabama though, I choose the SBR version of the GHM, which ATF won't let through...
And Canada had 19" barrels... with standard length handguard... used to have one, got rid of it because the carbon accumulating crazy fast, even with clean ammo...
up here in canada we have an 18.7 "match" which was a weird amalgamation of the pro lower and gen 1 upper. it seems it was a 2 or 3 run ordeal around 2020 which was then replaced by the spc9, that was a bit more fitting for Canadas requirement of 18.5"barrels on centerfire semi automatic rifles. the match had the handgaurd of the L model rifles which was ~ 9" where as the spc got the full length handguard of the sp9 sport. as unlike the apc9 the spc9 has interchangeable handguards . an interesting note is this barrel restriction is not applicable to rim fire or repeating arms
I presume next would be the rifle they make. Not the first time Cobra was involved then. Iirc the now-ancient article from a croatian gun magazine, they asked from Glock to make them a machine pistol, and thus glock 18c was made(c was supposedly standing for "cobra", rather than "compensated"). Pretty well thought-out design they have here. The shorter newer gun shown could, with few changes, make a great warhammer bolt pistol look-alike. Regarding the hydraulic buffer, one could wonder if it's as effective as advertised, why not more gun makers use it(lazyness, cost or patenting issue perhaps). While we're at different offerings for apc, you could say mr Brugger and Thomet are much like late Mikhail Kalashnikov was - meaning, they both listen to their customers and make changes accordingly to the guns requested.
The mp5 is controllable in full auto because its smooth. The apc9 is controllable in full auto because it shoots faster. Just like the mp40 vs ppsh41 or grease gun vs thompson.
I know an armorer from a police unit that fielded this gun and apparentely they aren't so happy with it. Seems like the hydraulic buffer wears out much faster than promised when using the hotter police ammo.
I dislike the glock mag release. I upgraded to a lingle aluminum lower that uses Scorpion magazines. I use an Elftman single stage trigger, forward controls design q shaped short throw safety, a stock after it became an SBR, and lastly, an HK style forward grip. It suppresses well, uses magpul Scorpion mags, and is a joy to shoot.
That looks like an early colt 9mm smg hammer. This seems like a very well planned out amd functional system. I would want to consider contracting them if I was procuring guns for an agency or company security force.

Love mine. Upgrading to the two tone apc9 when they finally ship.
got 2 of them. apc9k and limited. the 9k is one of the most fun guns Ive ever shot. truly is a masterpiece. w/ the right suppressors these guns are absolutely amazing.
17:20 that's a baby SCAR!!
I'm glad you got your own! 👍
Karl Brügger seems like the coolest dude. No other company will make a small run of a product just because they think it's a neat idea.
I just picked up my B&T suppressor for my SP5 last week and have so many other B&T inspired mods (folding style “”brace””, etc.) that I love. I’m very happy they opened a US based suppressor plant to be able to sell legally here.
Thun is such a beautiful place. Taking the boat across the lake to Interlaken is one of my favorite experiences I‘ve ever had. The Berner Oberland has my heart!
What a quintessential design. Even with material advancements in the future, I see this becoming a centennial arm like the M2 browning
I'm spotting a theme with some of the recent guns. One of the ones on the wall is another that looks straight out of the Grim Dark future of 40k.
Look up the Grandpower Stribog. I've converted mine with a few aftermarket parts to essentially look like a mini, mini, mini, 9mm bolter lol
Do you mean the blue one?
came looking for this comment; left satisfied.
😎🇦🇺👍
B&T: Which attachments, expansions and options would you like?
Gun connoisseur: YES
Thank you for aim down sight
If these guys can keep their business afloat they are really on to something. I gotta check these guys out.
B&T is the largest vendor of suppressors on the planet, they'll be around for a while
*The P90 will replace the MP5.*
*The UMP will replace the MP5.*
*The MP7 will replace the MP5.*
*The MP9 will replace the MP5.*
*The APC-9 will replace the MP5.*
*The Scorpion Evo will replace the MP5.*
*The MPX will replace the MP5.*
…
*What is the definition of insanity?*
*Edit: Look, all i’m saying is as long as people want the MP5 HK will keep on making them. Heck, HK themselves want the MP5 to be replaced. That’s what the UMP is for.*
the scorpion evo and the apc are really replacing the mp5 tho, at least in european leo service
This is better than the MP5.
@@actionjksn…but which one would you have?
Short carbines replaced the MP5.
All that simple blowback crap!
Great video. Love my APC300
Another favorite of Zach Hazard.
Love my APC9SD pro.
There is the APC10.
It may not have the exact features you stated, but it's a start.
The canadian barrel was 18.5 so that it could be classified as non-restricted and fired off of approved ranges and purchased by people with the basic firearms license
wait so an 18.5 AR is non restricted?

Very well thought out guns.
I really like this and I would choose this over the MP5, and I love the MP5. The hydraulic buffer is pretty brilliant. I wonder how that system would perform with a roller delay or rotary delay system. I bet it would be really soft shooting. I wish we could get the Swiss made versions in full auto.
Thank you Ian.
The benefit of a company that has one intelligent guy making the decisions. You really don't get that very often.
I like B&T. Sadly they are out of my price range but but they certainly are cool.
It's such a Swiss thing for this company to just be like "Oh we'll design our gun exactly how you want as long as you pay us enough."
Which in my book makes any company profitable. Customer needs (or wants) and pays, company provides and profits. 💪
What is wrong with that? Everybody does that…
@Aaron-d6u There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, au contraire.
A really cool and interesting design, an instant addition to the favorites list.
I really like this gun and the customization options
It's nice to see that some try to take the wining formula and actually extend it with other bits that will make it a great formula.
The Lingle lower is a great buy if you have a pile of Scorpion mags, or just love the curved mag look
3:35 the lower is serialised, see the metal plate left of the magwell
I like engineering but I am not especialy a great fan of fire arms. But how Ian Mac Callum does explain the thing is so excellent that I just enjoy listen to him!
Thank you for the addition to my small catalogue of 9un knowledge that I cannot really use for anything.
Super cool! This is what I wish everything was like. Custom is always best.
I love my gen 1 APC9, easily one of my top 3.
Favorite gun I own. Pairs nicely with a trijicon MRO. Fantastic travel gun.
I have wondered for a while why hydraulic buffers were not used in guns, although not hard enough to look it up. But now I know, thank you!
Can we also just appreciate how precise the stampings and fonts are on these B&T's ? Other companies might charge a couple of grand just for that...
Pretty much any 9mm B&T is at the top of my want list. Very nice!
those prices for a non delayed blowback is wild
My high praise? I want one to play with. I love the hydraulic buffer.
Excellent video, as always.
Thank you very much. Very informative.
Integral iron sights need to be more of a thing. Big fan of B&Ts and the Stribogs
Its an aluminium window profile made to shoot and its awesome😊
I compete with a B&T GHM9 up in Canada. Really like their gear, gonna have to get myself a longer PCC for world's in Alabama though, I choose the SBR version of the GHM, which ATF won't let through...
And Canada had 19" barrels... with standard length handguard... used to have one, got rid of it because the carbon accumulating crazy fast, even with clean ammo...
Archwick just started advetising on my page the B&T APC9 airsoft gbb. Good timing
The sd2 model is super cool because it offers two choices of suppressor length and it was chosen by the us army
up here in canada we have an 18.7 "match" which was a weird amalgamation of the pro lower and gen 1 upper. it seems it was a 2 or 3 run ordeal around 2020 which was then replaced by the spc9, that was a bit more fitting for Canadas requirement of 18.5"barrels on centerfire semi automatic rifles. the match had the handgaurd of the L model rifles which was ~ 9" where as the spc got the full length handguard of the sp9 sport. as unlike the apc9 the spc9 has interchangeable handguards . an interesting note is this barrel restriction is not applicable to rim fire or repeating arms

Random Customer: I need a Short Boi of my SCAR-17 in 9mm, can you consider...
B&T: Yes😏
Ian i love your content, and thats a very nice gun!👍👍
SWEET! I was always wondering if a buffer would work in this application.
THX
18.5 is the non restricted barrel length here in Canada.
The 1st-gen APC-9 gives me strong UMP vibes. Maybe it's the angle of the straight box mag.
Completely unexpected review on my dream gun. Some like mp5 but i like this
The b&t apc308 is one of the few semi-auto .308 rifles to survive the 2020 "assault weapons" ban in canada.
A bolt hold open/release are hugely important on a PDW. I love the MP5 but reloading is too slow and cumbersome. This is a much improved system.
The lingle lower with scorpion mags actually makes these guns good.
Agreed.
Please ask B & T to buy the TDP, from Silencerco, for the Maxim 9. Pretty please.
I was just looking for B&T APC9 material on YT because one caught my eye at a LGS that had a MP5 lower and took MP5 mags.
Who was the head of the Austrian COBRA unit? Cobra Commander of course. 😁
I have one and love it!
That looks like an early colt 9mm smg hammer. This seems like a very well planned out amd functional system. I would want to consider contracting them if I was procuring guns for an agency or company security force.
I have a GHM and love it!!!
The staple of shooting game can never be replaced i guess
