Great video. I always find these “what’s in my bag,” segments interesting. I'm so glad to see you are now using a roller bag. As someone who has been shooting sports from little leagues to major leagues for 30+ years, I want to caution everyone about overloading their camera backpacks. There is very real potential long-term damage to the back shoulders and neck in doing so. I see it every day. I'm surrounded by shooters who've had neck, shoulder, and/or back problems from carrying 30+ pounds of gear up and down stairs and long distances through fields and stadiums. Your pack should never be more than 10% of your bodyweight if you use it regulalry. The moment you are carrying two bodies and a 400MM 2.8 or larger lens on a regular basis, transition to a wheeled bag, as Rob has. Or better yet, even before. Use the backpack only when necessary to do so. Play it safe so you can do this for years to come! Rob, it would be a great to do a video on sports photographer health/fitness. And one on safety. It's a topic I am passionate about. Let me know if you want some ideas. Great work!
Hi, Rob! Thanks for all your info! Just wondered if you ever have used a gimbal on a tripod for your soccer games? Haven't seen one in your videos... Is it impractical compared to using a monopod? I'm afraid of losing the grip of the monopod with the long lens when reaching for my 70-200... Any tips?
Rob. not really related to this video but while I think of it. Can you describe some file sizes you typically send pls. I shoot quite a bit of sport, events etc uploading to a website gallery as I go sometimes. I’m shooting Nikon D4S, set either to ‘large or medium, normal’ file size. A quick edit photomechanic and send out at 200 RES. File sizes can be anywhere between 3-10mb, depending on crop etc etc. Is this still too high or large setting for people then downloading mainly for online use but also some print? To me just appears to take quite a while to send these off on most occasions. I understand there is a lot of variables, but could I drop file size and or RES even more? Cheers from Aussie Land 🤪🤪
Do you ever take your hard drives out with you when on location? Not that it’s ideal but I’ll sometimes find myself taking it. Curious about work flow habits to prevent losing it.
Thanks for that Rob. It’s useful to see what works for you and particularly so because you live in the real world where there are limits as to what makes financial sense. Curious if you ever used the 200-400 f/4 with the 1.4x and your thoughts on it. While it’s very expensive, a used one might be doable if it really did the job. Thanks again.
@@RobSambles If you are not in the Canon Professional Services (CPS) program, get yourself enrolled and request a loaner 200-400. This program has saved my bacon a few times in the last 20 years, and, I get to try some sweet gear before I buy.
Love to Dolphins T! Greetings from Sunny South Florida! Great videos BTW.

I always use a monopod rather than a tripod. I made a video about using multiple cameras. Check it out
@@RobSambles - I will! Thanks.

It really depends what the images will be used for. For me it's normally dictated by the agency I'm working with
Link for the new backpack...
Yeah its in the description

Added it for you
@@RobSambles Thanks Rob I don't think they have them for a Canon 300mm 2.8 ,any other suppliers ?
Did you forget to add the Amazon links for some of the gear Rob? 👀
Don't think so. Which one are you struggling to find?

@@mistafahrenheit557 Ah yeah - I'll add it in

What's the new bagback??
Just the one from this video
Why is the screw in your 400 2.8 sticking out?
It's from the monopod, just when I unscrewed it I was lazy and didn't move it back to the monopod!
@@RobSambles you should get yourself a new monopod ;-)
Such a lot of great info. Thanks. Unless I missed it, you forgot to mention spare batteries.
Yeah great shout - yes spare batteries go into the front pockets of the backpack!
Thanks Rob, random question but how many cards do you use during a match per camera? Ta
Normally just 2 per camera with images duplicating onto both cards. I always have spares though

I've never used it. I'd love to get hold of one to make a video though!

When shooting an event where you're moving around (like a soccer game), do you keep one or both bags with you on the field?
Everything with me pitchside but if I'm moving around (which is rare for football/soccer) then everything is locked up
Do you have to hire a guy who carries all of that stuff behind you on the game XD ?
Haha I wish I could!
U look cute n ur voice sound like in the movie....transformers
