Do you need the speed and/or the video functions of the A1 !? I think the Sony A7RV (or Sony A7RIVA) is a better options if you do not need the extra speed and video functions !
I have the Sony 135mm 1.8 GM, it is a great Lens, but a bit too big and heavy. For 85mm I prefer to use the excellent and light weight Zeiss Batis Sonnar 85mm 1.8 T* which is so easy to handle and use ! I never use zoom Lenses, I do not like them !!! Accessories in my bag are extra batteries, extra memory cards, a blower to dust off sensor and Lenses, if I need a tripod, then quick coupling plates. Sony needs more compact long tele, light weight Lenses, like fx the new Sigma 500mm 5.6 DG DN OS Sports which I bought !!!
I own the a9iii and just recently bought the a1 because of cropping factors. A9iii is still phenomenal and I’ll be keeping it but having the extra room to crop is way more important to me

Very cool! I'm tempted to get the A1 to replace my A7IV but I'm trying to stay strong, hoping A1 II comes out next year.

Excellent thx! Having been watching Jean’s current series with B & H…what happened to the A9iii and 300 2.8 she was using in that series?
I’m sure the 400/2.8 is her work horse for professional sports.

she doesn't use A9iii ?
Sports photography is many times heavy cropping and hence A1 resolution is superior
