    Please, don't use a wide-angle lens. Your body looks deformed and the 13" laptop looks like a 17" one.

      learningbird haha right? I was like why is the laptop so wide?!

    • @SimGunther
      @SimGunther 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      learningbird I think he's _just_ too far away from the camera for the wide angle lens to fully unleash its potential of exaggerating movements to and from the camera; as a result, the whole shot looks semi awkward. Roger Deakins would be disappointed with that wide angle lens usage if he saw this.

      @SimGunther Everybody has made this mistake at least once in a lifetime: shooting a party in a small room with a wide-angle lens! :D

      I am satisfied. Very much. But, consider that I have come from tiny old and weak Asus T100 with an Atom SOC :)
      Battery life is nothing to write home about, 5-6 hours of my active use, which is mostly browsing, some text editors, some youtube and online classes, some gaming of this one game from windows store. But f.e. standby time is awesome, better then on my old atom machine. In sleep, it looses ~1%/hour, which is in my view really good and makes it not worth to actually use hibernate or shutdown.
      IR windows hello camera is awful, it takes too long, and 30% of the time it does not recognize me. In the dark, it works better, but on the terrace when it's a sunny day, it's terrible. Maybe it's also because I have a beard :)
      In the only steam game I want to play, Civ6, there is a weird graphical issue, where some colors are wrong. I think maybe white is blue, and such. Don't know how to solve this.
      Screen has great contrast and black value. But it's not very bright. I estimate ~250, because it feels the same as my old one, and it had something like that. On a very sunny day, and in shade, it's usable, but not great, if dark content is shown on screen. For browsing it's no problem, but for video not so much.
      Build is really great, f.e. much, much better then Zenbook 13 that I originally got.
      Keyboard is also great, good travel, good feedback and no flexing at all. I love it.
      Noise is good. I came from fanless PC, so I am sensitive to noise. When browsing or idle, it's very quiet. Sometimes it ramps up when streaming video and doing some other stuff at the same time, but normally it's quiet. Not sure about gaming, since I have not played anything for more than 5 minutes.
      Overall, I am very satisfied, and still feel like at 900€, there is nothing better. So glad I returned Zenbook 13 for this, saved 250€ and I think I got a better PC.

      321bluff well you might be using it differently then what I plan to use it for. I want a ryzen cpu in a 2 in 1 laptop so so I can take it with me and take notes and some light coding and I want it to be the mobile ryzen since they are slightly better so it has enough power to do video and photo editing on the go and if I want to start gaming then I want the thunderbolt 3 port so I can hook up an external gpu do I can play games at higher settings and maybe even record. I want to do something similar to what Austin Evans recently did on a video called “Building the ultimate thunderbolt 3 setup” except with two regular monitors and maybe either a gtx 1070 or 1080

      @321bluff 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zora_tech its a 15 watt ryzen 8 and 10. And it thermal throttles coz of aluminium and slim chasy. So I would recommend is buy a spectre and egpu.

    • @zora_tech
      @zora_tech 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well based on both being 15 watts I dont see how intels CPU wouldn't also throttle if AMD's throttles, just by basing it off that they would both being put in an slim aluminium enclosure. Either way based on other reviewers that have tested out Ryzen 2 in 1 laptops and referencing that with how I plan to edit videos it really wouldn't thermal throttle while editing/exporting videos or theoretically speaking it wouldn't throttle while playing games either while hooked up to an EGPU, if AMD ever adopts thunderbolt 3, since most current games are GPU intensive especially the ones I play.

    they cheaped out a bit on the screen. i can tell you as an owner of this exact model, in graphics that display one solid color, you can see individual pixels. its not noticeable in movies or videos, but definitely noticeable in solid shapes that are all one color. its not low resolution or anything, but im guessing the pixel density is rather low. i havent seen that sort of effect on any other laptop ive owned, so they definitely were trying to cut costs with the screen.

      Traded mine in for a new IPad Pro. Went from 4 hours average battery life on the Envy to 13 on the pro. Luma fusion and Procreate blow any and every windows app out of the water for creating and editing. Apple store just has 100 times more apps for every possible thing you could need to create/do. And there’s no annoying fan noise, iPad stays nice and cool doesn’t even get warm.. It’s just a better experience if you’re willing to pay a little extra. Plus the Retina Screen is gorgeous and just looks so full of color its unreal. Videos look beautiful and pictures and artwork take on a new level. So happy with my choice. I would have settled had I kept the HP, deep down regretting all the shortcomings. Now I’m stoked every time I sit down with the Pro to work or play!

    Does the hinge wobble much for you? I am deciding between the 2700U version of this and the normal ENVY 13, and my two biggest drawbacks of the X360 are its weaker graphics than the MX150, and a lot of people report a really wobbly hinge in laptop mode which would drive me insane

    • @tomstacey1103
      @tomstacey1103 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Desert Boy nope a lot of the time the Vega 10 will outperform the mx150 up to you though

    • @Zer0_Smith
      @Zer0_Smith 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the Intel version with the MX150 so i'll give you the performance with this laptop. On older titles like Burnout Paradise, it can be maxxed out no issue but newer titles like Dirt 4, or big older titles like GTA IV need to run at around medium. Same with Fortnite (if you play that) I was able to set it to low and turn up the texture detail and anti aliasing to medium and render distance to high. But an important note is this laptop does not have large enough grips or legs or whatever you want to call it, so when the CPU and GPU are at full usage, it will start to throttle in laptop mode. It doesn't if you put it in presentation mode or just lift it slightly off the table with something. And with the hinge, it is fine and will stay reasonable still in laptop mode.

    Nice review! I've look at the Ryzen 3 2300U Vega 6 version, cost 698€ here in 🇳🇴 is that powerfull enough to stream Netflix, Hbo without any slowdowns/struggling ? The PCMark10 hast tested the Ryzen 5 variant to have 3hours of videplayback and 4hours for the Ryzen 3.
    That’s seems to be low. But i never use the brightness over 40% though.
    The reason i ask about performance is: I tryed a Asus Vivobook 14 with Core i3 8130 and Uhd 620.
    I had to deliver it back, because it did not manage to provide a good streaming experience for me. I also tried and put the pc in full performance mode without getting so much better.

      Yeah.. thing is, when the fan starts working like crazy it gets hot, which results in it having to work even harder in order to cool it down.
      I generally really like this laptop, but the fan is kind of driving me nuts. For a 900 euro laptop, this really disappointed me.
      Have you experienced such problems?

    • @Kaleopan
      @Kaleopan 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sibelsafak8165 It's not a gaming laptop, nor is it advertised as such. The heat dissipation is a common and major design flaw in the ENVY 13 due to it's slim design.
      The ENVY 15 and ENVY 17 struggle a lot less with loud fans or power limitation due to thermal design but also have a bigger case.
      Maybe you can work out a refund for your ENVY 13 and put the money towards an ENVY 15 if that's such a big issue.
      Other tech channels have found a significant decrease in both productivity and gaming performance on the ENVY 13 compared to the ENVY 15 even with identical hardware because the processor/APU gets throtteled to a power limit of 15 Watt by HP on the ENVY 13, but 25 Watt on the ENVY 15 for the same reason.
      I'd say stay the hell away from the ENVY 13 unless you want something portable and don't care about performance at all.

      I bought a 13" with the Ryzen 3 2200U with Vega 6 graphics and 256GB SSD. It's far from a powerhouse, but it's still a quad core machine with decent integrated graphics. I've liked it a lot for a Windows laptop so far, and I agree with everything this video says. The only things I didn't like is the amount of HP crap I had to uninstall, but that's a given for any windows laptop that isn't a Surface, and the fact that the keyboard doesn't have a back light.

      E-sports titles like that shouldn't be a problem.
      Granted I haven't looked at benches for this mobile APU, but the desktop version is essentially identical other then some potential clock speed differences and those does high end games at lowest setting at 900p just fine and e-sport titles like the ones you mentioned at highest setting 1080p just fine (although you might want to lower the settings to get better framerates).

      +Juan Andrés
      I haven't looked up the details for these mobile versions of the processors, but they're in essence the same as the desktop ones.
      And the desktop ones are good for 900p gaming for more demanding titles and does 1080p just fine in e-sports titles but struggles with memory bandwidth limitations (memory is the one thing holding it back meaning that the higher end APUs (R5 2400G) don't perform much better then the lower end ones (R3 2200G), I assume the same is true for these laptops, although since they're running at a slightly lower speed to concerve power the memory limitations should be aliviated a tiny bit allowing the hardware to actually stretch its legs a bit more.
      For gaming I'd just buy the APUs without SMT but with more memory.
      For productivity the higher end one has twice the threads and can be decent for that role even if it can't match a hex core from Intel.
      One thing worth noting is that what kind of software you're using plays a huge role in what hardware is best for you.
      Adobe has recently added support for the video encoder unit in the iGPU of Intels processors improving Intels performance in that application even when compared to higher end AMD hardware.
      In software that actually makes *use* of this hardware you'll probably end up loving it though as you're getting a *lot* of hardware for the money.

I've own and tried many computer from Chromebook to MacBooks and many Linux operating system 'windows' p.c. Didn't want to relearn all that I did in being a windows geek, spending too much time to keep it going, mostly due to 'Bill Gates ware'. The NEW "Mb Air" works for me fine and only cost me $999 with no taxes! (my 'secret') The H.P pc brand is the best windows for the most people but I didn't want to deal with the support department. Nothing like great personal service a couple of blocks away at the Apple Store.

    I have this laptop and i would say AVOID unless your very very lucky.
    Went through 3 Replacements in 1 month, now in the process of a refund.
    +First - Had several deadpixel on arrival. Returned the next couple days for a replacement.
    +Second - Was okay, untill 2hours after arrival, the LCD adhesive started to separate near the bottom left corner to midway when tilting the screen. Returned the next day for another replacement.
    +Third - Thought this was the one, but no... Trackpad was lifting from one corner and other side of trackpad was stuck. Insanely loud fan, like a hair dryer. Updated bios, tried HP Coolsense bs and so on but nothing works. Previous two laptop did not exhibit this issue. Yes i know this is a small-form factor laptop, but even at idle the fan kicked in 100% with temperature reaching to 55-65 degrees at 20-30% load and previous two laptop did not exhibit this issue. Now in the process of just getting a refund and moving elsewhere before the return policy expires...
    The first two seemed to come from the same batch (checking the serial number) where the third one came from a different batch. HP seriously has some quality issues with the ryzen line-up or in general with the envy line up. Performance it self was good to an extent...The main issue is AMD drivers with lack of support and update - easier to search this up rather than me explaining it. I'm not hating AMD, i rock a Ryzen 1700 on my main desktop and absolutely love it. But this laptop was enough to drive me crazy. Looks beautiful and slim, affordable but deceiving. HP support was friendly enough for the replacement and refund, but all 3 laptops had issues on ARRIVAL, give a couple of months who knows what other issue could have popped up and if they would have honoured their warranty. Theres alot of online thread complaining with similar or even worser situations and there's also HP and several other company binning the Ryzen chip from 15W to 12W and then thermal throttling. Just a shame that this could have been one of the best budget laptop but plagued with poor design, a single driver update and quality issues...
