- In this episode i am doing a slug air gun discussion on my air gun setups for precision shooting and air gun hunting. I discuss my air gun slug topics that most new air gun competitive shooters and air gun hunting shooters ask. I am air gun hunting sportsman and i also do competitive air gun shooting for a career. My air gun hunting setups is the most important for me and in this episode i display the raw power an accuracy that it delivers with heavy air gun slugs. I love competitive precision shooting and air gun hunting and it is part of my lifestyle. I love to help air gun hunters and this is why i try to answer and guide as many people as what i can in this episode. The Fx Impact is such a icon in the air gun hunting and competitive shooting platforms. The Fx Impact is by far the king of all air gun hunting airguns and my favorite air gun of all time for precision shooting. I love to do air gun precision shooting with my Fx Impact across the world and it is part of my career. As a hunter i love to teach other air gun hunting shooters the best i can when it comes to shooting skill and good hunting ethics. I want to set a good example to other air gun hunting and competitive shooters out there. Thank you for this informative video...the word for your barrel should be "season/seasoned/seasoning, not foul up. Semantics, I know, heheheh.
What's your opinion? I decided to go with the 25 caliber air rifle 1100 FPS I think around 80 FPE. I'm going to most likely change the barrel to a barrel that is set up for Slugs.
In terms accuracy and energy/penetrating power is there a not a happy medium in terms of caliber and slug choice? This is an accuracy lethality question. Have you concluded what your favorite caliber is overall in terms of accuracy and long distance penetrating/energy FPE at 100 yd to 200 yd plus?
If for example you are shooting long distances say 200 yards plus at 3/4 inches of pine wood which is considered the standard, perhaps a 25 caliber slug will be more accurate and consistent at these distances as compared to a 30 and 35 caliber slug because of the higher weight of the larger slugs causung a higher drop off angle and more of a loss of enegy as compared to a 25 caliber slug?

Cracking program #ShooterMakeReady . I have 3 liners in my .25 wildcat. 500 & 700mm superior and 700mm heavy slug. out to 50m with the 500mm, several slugs are sub 1/2 moa up to 34grain. The 700mm superior sub moa to 100m up to 34grain sub moa..
In both these any slug over 34grain was struggling.
With the Heavy liner the heavy slugs over 34 came into their own big time 37, 38, 40, 41, 42, 44, 46 & 54grain from various manufacturers were ALL sub moa with some close to 1/2moa at 100m bench rested. (FPS from 815 to 980) under 37grain the groups were not as good as with the Superiors.

Great video Gerhard ... yes, in my country we can legally shoot .177 without specific license .. and there's no limit on the power/energy (ft-lbs) like some other countries.
From my personal experience, if I'm shooting mostly shorter than 50m I think pellet can do what slug can or even better in some aspects; but, soon as you're talking 75m, 100m, or more ... then slug definitely have more advantage (if we can find the properly tuned sweet-spot).

Superior liners is more based on pellet shooting. Your superior heavy and slug A liners is based on slug shooting. Differences is twist rate and choke.

Great information, have an m3 and doing lots of tinkering, I have found the gun has a sweet spot at a certain bottle/reg pressure and it just stacks slugs. I found it when bottle pressure is near first reg pressure. That’s with the standard stx liner. These are quite fragile guns and a lot can affect accuracy.
I have not been this excited about a channel in a long long time! Thanks for doing this!

You referred to higher reg pressure… I’m shooting 30 gr slugs around 980. But my valve spring is open way past line 4. What would you recommend Reg 1 at and Reg 2?
I will do first reg at least 220bar and second final reg to 150-160bar. 🎯
I shoot 22 cal slugs h&n out of the standard superior liner 700mm 30g at 996fps and they produce 1 ragged hole at 50 yards and sub moa at 100

For lighter slugs in .177 and .22 cal, do you think longer slugs with a deeper and thinner walled hollow point or shorter slugs with a shallow thicker wall will be more accurate and consistent? I’m thinking of guns in the 10-40 fpe range.
The longer the slug the better. Better bearing surface for stability

I'm having difficulty in stabilising my 20gr h&ns through my maverick 177 power range 780fps/900fps it will group 1 inch 40yrds 60yards around 2inch.

I am using an Alpex 4k LRF and the built in calculator on a Day state RedWolf 55-65 ft/lbs on 0.22 cal.

Please correct me if I am wrong. This is a summation.
I own the KERVAN Airboss K-1, 25 caliber. Barrel length is 58 cm. Muzzle velocity. Max. 1100 FPS. 335m/s.
I’m using the JSB exact King Heavy Diablo and JSB slug knockout.
- If i am target shooting/marksmanship from 50 to 100 yards then standard pellets should be fine?
- If I am going for long range target shooting/marksmanship, then I should be using slugs? For example, anything over a 100 yard distance you are going to get less of a trajectory curve fall off, thus in turn more accuracy at long distances?
- If you’re hunting small game at say 50 yards to 75 yards you should use pellets?
- If you are hunting larger game at say 50 to 100 yards, then use slugs because the impact of the slug will be greater than a pellet with more expansion?
I also subscribe to your other channel. I don’t shoot air rifle but I do shot rimfire ur videos help me allot… u should also make a videos like that for rimfire shooting
I have a kaliber cricket 60, in .25 cal it shoots alot of pellets well. Especially JSB 33.95 and JTS 29.32. If i wanted to try slugs what would you suggest. And are slugs only ment for long range or can i shoot them close like 25 to 75 yards on opossum, raccoons, Squirrels.
Crazy now i know of several high end pcp rifles that can shoot in .17 .22 and .25 high grain slugs at that 1300 1400 fps consistently. Came along way

Rifles like the Hatsan Factor sniper long. Is the barrel for that rifle is good for shooting slugs being that it has a lot of power? Also the Hatsan bt65 both the 22 and 25 caliber? I ask because i haven’t shot slugs yet and will hate to spend more money on a rifle just to shoot slugs also those rifles are awesome even tho the bt65 is older but it still works like new. Thanks

Hi amigo I have a fx maverick and it's shooting inconsistent I set it at 950 with nsa 23 gr and shoots 10 shots fine then drops speed to 600fps and then goes up to 1000 any advice what to look in to all I did is to install power kit thanks in advance hope you have time tex back

mavrick sniper 23gn slugs Whats the best way to go about obtaining speed (have a chrony on order) start at low pressure (120/80 = 30 to 40 differance) power wheel on 1 and go to 7 and then repeat the processes again (140/100 = 30to40) and wheel 1 to 7 until i have a max speed 900 to 930 on 7 do i adjust fine wheel screw out to max and leave it theres lots of videos on pressure adjustment not much on starting pressure hope this makes sense cheers tony

I shoot a .25 M3 with a 700mm superior liner and its giving me great sub-moa results out to my self imposed range of 150 yards with 33g,36g,38g,41g slugs, i dont know what FX did but this barrel just shoots slugs alot better than my 700mm superior heavy liner that is designed to shoot slugs??! My friend has experienced the same thing also. Keep the videos coming mate.

How much reg pressor required for 20 grain .177 slug on m3?
You an push it up high 150bar is good
Use 13 grains instead. 20grain wont spin stabilize in a 1:18 barrel.

I have a Diana 56th recoilless springer. I'm going to experiment with some NSA 17.5 gr slugs. I don't have really high expectations but may be surprised. If I can get them firing half decently, I should be further ahead at distances over 50 or 60 meters.

Excellent and informative video! Well done! But, do you know that we can use slugs from other rifles, not only from the FX models? For example, did you know that the 20" long Hatsan AT44-10 .22 cal barrel "loves" H&N slugs and at velocities of only 790 to 840 fps with 23, 25 and 27 grainers achieves great accuracy at distances from 200 to even 300 yards? I have tested all this in practice in the last three years. So... Not only FX!!!

Question about Reg pressures on the M3.
In the manual its states.... 'Do not increase 1st Reg pressure higher than 170 Bar' just wondering how does increasing your Reg pressures to 200Bar+ affect the gun and shot counts of your weapons? Only getting into slug shooting and am curious to these points
There need to be a difference in pressure between front bottle reg and rear final reg. At least 30 bar. This way you have to push your pressure up to 200 on the front to play around with 160-170 bar pressures on the final.
@@shootermakeready1224 Appreciate the response, just was uncertain as to how it would have affected seals etc within the gun at such high pressures. Currently shooting FX hybrids at 980fps with 1st Reg @160 and 2nd @120 with great results

I love to use ballistol or a little bit of silicon spray mixed with vasiline. In small ammounts thow.
@@shootermakeready1224 I love Ballistol because it is good for wood, metal and does not perish rubber and orings like other oils. Balistol has a natural kind of peroxide that removed rust and ... lead. I have made the mistake. Your pellets turn gray and looks oxidized if you leave it coated with ballistol. Might help with the barrel if you only treat the batch that you are going to use.

Very true try a verity of slugs my Maverick 600mm barrel and my wild cat btl compact both like NSA 26grn Maverick at 920fps and wild cat at 860fps are on the bullseye constantly both Guns are 25cal.

What would be your recommended starting point for the Impact M3 in .25 cal with a 700mm barrel? I hunt small game with it using pellets and am wanting to get into slugs.
