I WAS WATCHING AND THOUGHT, I'VE BEEN THERE BEFORE. WHEN I LOOKED AT THE INFO BELOW, "RIGHT". I HAVE BEEN ACROSS THIS RIVER 3 TIMES, MONTANA TO WASHINGTON TWICE AND ONCE INTO OREGON... THE LONGEST RIVER I DROVE BESIDE IN A LONG TIME. I DROVE SOUTH FOR WELL OVER 1-2 HOURS TO MY TURN... VERY BEAUTIFUL... THANK YOU...
I actually like seeing the remnants of the old highway next to the riverside railroad. Disused portion has become only a path or two as the new freeway has cut most of it off.
Hi! I am doing a project at my university and I need some video shots of trains and was hoping to get permission to use some of this video. Message me or comment back please :)
It is used very rarely but is considered active. The track from the upper line goes down to the Union Pacific just out of the shot. The junction is called OT Jct. Union Pacific has trackage rights on the Oregon Trunk (BNSF) which they use occasionally. Years ago the junction was used daily as there was a train that ran from The Dalles to Bend, returning to The Dalles the following day. UP also kept a switcher in Redmond. These two jobs were eliminated when the mills in Bend and Redmond closed.
The bridge was built at the edge of Celilo Falls. The falls were flooded by The Dalles Dam. The vertical lift is for tug boats and any other boats that don't have the clearance to go under the bridge. The bridge is in the up position until a train is ready to cross. The bridge tender is located in Pasco, WA. There is a swing span, now fixed in position, to the left of the lift span. It was used when there was a set of locks before The Dalles Dam was built.
Bom dia amigo,, e impressionante, é mágico lindo que panorama, estou impressionado, sou filho de ferroviario, nos temos a serra de Botucatu sp, mas igual a essa paisagem não existe, parabéns amigo abraço
@@ivanoffw yep - much of it got covered or regraded and turned into the east bound I84 through that area but there are a few bits still left. Neat bit of history.
I would say it's probably pretty rare only because the line crossing the river is the very least busy line in the Pacific Northwest and the line below can be dead at times as well. I can't be sure though.
The Oscar goes to ...... Railfan Dan! Awesome video, I've been right there on I-84 countless times. Thank you.

Geez Louise, that’s a bloody nice sequence!!!
Love this video! Love the music! ❤️❤️❤️

Over and under is very common. The river adds to this scene. What IS neat, is to see the same train over and under itself.
Fantastic picture
Beautiful use of Drone Camera.
Great aerial video!
Super drone video! Great catch! Thumbs Up & Subscribe

Great thanks so much!!
What job could be more cool and relaxing than driving a train.
I just love it this video it's superb and awesome
There is a major BNSF yard on the other side of the bridge, but this train will probably skip it and go to Portland, Oregon.
Somehow it never really feels like you've seen the end of a train without a caboose being there.
I have great passion for Train..... Love yr video very much.... Thanks
Regards from Malaysia
At first I thought this was close to Portland but was surprised this is actually upstream from The Dales. Nice catch...

is that an active junction?, right after the freeway overpass, and where does it go?

Great video, however ...I'm more interested in the history behind that "vertical section lift" bridge... 1:43 ...interresting

@@youngwarrior2 thanks! I've never seen before a combination of swinging and lifting spans in one bridge.
Very nice.

Great job very profesional
Is that the old Columbia River Highway that runs parallel to the UP tracks? As usual for your videos, awesome footage.
Do you mean I84 or something else? The freeway is I84.
@@TheRailfanDan I am talking about the narrow paved road with weeds growing up in the center that looks to be 10 feet from the UP Main line.
@@ivanoffw Oh I see. That I am not sure about.
@@ivanoffw yep - much of it got covered or regraded and turned into the east bound I84 through that area but there are a few bits still left. Neat bit of history.
That is the remnants of highway 30 from before the freeway was built.
sehr schöne Bilder, geile passende Musik dazu und ein Abo von mir!
Breathtaking! :)
Unstoppable
Wonder if tracks bnsf crossing is way to Sacramento CA
Yes. Their mainline from the Pacific Northwest to California.
It eventually goes down the Feather River Canyon over the KDY.
What song was used
very nice
Rare????? It happens all the time. O.o
Eyokebndjks
how long this train is.
Great drone footage, what are the chances of even seeing this these days?(even though I don't live in Oregon)
I would say it's probably pretty rare only because the line crossing the river is the very least busy line in the Pacific Northwest and the line below can be dead at times as well. I can't be sure though.
AMAZING--?
