This is certainly not what I was expecting to upload today! I'm so excited to take on this full demo of Kirby and the Forgotten Land. We've been patiently waiting for the full game to release, and I can't believe we get to play some levels early. I hope you enjoy our first look at the fantastic Kirby Switch game!!

About Kirby games and difficulty:
The normal story mode is always mostly a breeze with a difficulty spike near the end. HOWEVER, Kirby fans will testify how notoriously hard are the 'Extra' modes and 'Boss Gauntlets', I can't begin to describe how stupid rough some of the hardest challenges in the series are.
That's also why I love the games so much, they offer both a chill experience and a clenching struggle if you're down for it.
Kirby game difficulty goes from "toddler" to "toddler with brass knuckles" in the extra modes.

I HIGHLY recommend you play more Kirby games on the channel.
Superstar Ultra, Squeak Squad, Amazing Mirror, Dream Land 3. All very good options.
Not to mention the quadrilogy that preceeded this game!
Im not probably the best to explain this but i'll try to give a spoiler-free breakdown of what implications the intro specifically has on the Kirby Universe
The interdimensional starstorm that brought Kirby through Another Dimension towards the Forgotten Land bears direct resemblance to the star rifts from Return to Dreamland. This makes sense as the star rifts within that game were used to teleport to Another Dimension, An exclusive side world inbetween dimensions to that game. This side world also includes the miniboss enemies, Sphere Doomers. But wherever they'll be relevant in this game is beyond me
The Red Butterfly briefly shown in the intro gets sucked into Another Dimension aswell. This has huge implications as the red butterfly is shown in every single intro cutscene (and even bigger implications if, well, you know)
Either way whatever happens, this demo was really fun and im interested to see where this game goes

Just played the demo myself and absolutely loved it! This is the most excited I’ve been for a Kirby game in a long time.
It's got so much charm already! The theme alone gives such a sense of wonder, esp with how different this game is from past Kirby games. Can't wait for more!

Car fact. A turbo actually works by taking the exhaust and using that to spin a turbine to push more air into the engine. What causes flames to come out of the exhaust is usually a rich air to fuel ratio causing combustion in the exhaust creating flames. Or from N2O otherwise known as nitrous oxide which is a power adder that works by directly squirting N2O into the combustion chamber adding more oxygen to the air creating a more powerful explosion creating more horsepower but this can also lead to post engine ignition causing flames.
Loved the demo can't wait to fight an eldritch demon lord in the full release
Kirby actually pulls that “Olimar face” quite often in cutscenes. Superstar and Triple Deluxe come to mind off the top of my head
The wide-eyed Olimar face you mentioned has been a thing since Kirby Super Star on the SNES

There’s nothing weird about thinking Kirby was meh if your only exposure was Squeak Squad. As you said, it’s not exactly bad, but it’s nowhere near a good representation of the greatness that is Kirby.

I played the demo and loved it, but I knew I would already cause I have game pre-ordered! Enjoyable video and yes you two should absolutely play other Kirby games

I have played every Kirby game to have existed and the trend will continue. I'm very glad to see that you have interest in the upcoming game and I also suggest Kirby Star Allies and Kirby Super Star Ultra. Kirby games do a lot of callbacks, so playing the previous ones is often a good idea!
I'm very certain the tulip quest is a Dreamland 3 reference. Flowers was a big sidequest in that game.

Also, Fun(?) fact about the game's difficulty: This game has an Adaptive Difficulty system for the bosses which was also featured in the three previous mainline titles (Triple Deluxe (3DS), Planet Robobot (3DS) and Star Allies (Switch)), and I'm a little iffy and how it's been implemented in all these games. Don't worry, this explanation has no spoilers in the middle.
For all four games, the system is identical: The first time you take on the boss, your attacks and the boss's attacks will do their regular damage; however if you happen to die to that boss, your damage multiplier will increase and/or the boss's damage multiplier will decrease. And those multipliers go further up and down the more you die to the boss.
Don't worry though, this mechanic is only a thing for the bosses; and if you defeat that boss or if you restart the level and come back the system resets. Also, this mechanic is not a thing for the side modes which a few comments have already mentioned can be very challenging.
You should definitely play more Kirby games though. If your only exeperience with Kirby has been Squeak Squad, no wonder you didn't think much of the series before. Star Allies is available on the Switch and is really inclined towards multiplayer! You and Casey will have a fun time playing it! There's also a few Kirby games on the Wii U's Eshop! Get 'em before they're gone forever!

I really love that this Kirby game seems like it's gonna have more difficulty. Some attacks that had invincibility don't anymore and your HP doesn't restore between levels anymore

I'm so glad Casey agrees It looks so painful When Kirby swallows the car and then when he can't even partially swallow it And barfs it back out and it just the wheels stick out... o god I'm going to barf. You don't need to remove your copy ability when going into mouthful mode, Kirby keeps the cute hat that they got from the copyability and it's adorable. Also if you click the buttons on the left joycon kirby does cute emotes!! BLG question: Took me I think around 30 minutes to finish the demo and I did it one more time to get the new adventure code and finish all the side quests. Also because it's co-op could you guys do it together I think that would be so cool.

Kirby's Super Star/Super Star Ultra is the best of the 2D Kirby games, imo. Though, I've heard nothing but good things about Robobot.

Im glad that this first tile playing kirby has beed enjoyable for you guys. I do recommend playing Kirby Crystal Shards for N64 once it's available in the Nintendo online, it kinda have that same vibe but with a cool peculiar skill system.
As for what you guys mentioned of being linear but not a bad thing, I'm ki da against that people says that being linear is a bad thing that mades the game awful : T like I understand games like now are getting into the semi open worlds into real open worlds, but that doesn't make linear games that bad, games like Bayonetta, Sonic, Devil May Cry, Resident evil 4, etc etc are good as they are and they're linear.
Same goes with the negative comments about Pokemon Legend Arceus. I do agreed it has some weakness like some odd textures with visible patterns, the sky looking flat with that PNG clouds XD, and how they move with a lower frame rate in the distance, but is the game disappointment? No! The gaming experience was the strongest thing about it which makes fans to enjoy a brand new experience in pokemon world and the geography structure of the map is perfect for the player to get into obstacles obstacles to explore.
Of course im not defending all games that could have thise negative points, if they have both boring gameplay mechanic and a bad quality of bad art direction, them it's probable that they game is bad ^ ^° at least that's what believe

Many Kirby games are definitely quite linear, with some solid room for finding secrets. (Kirby's Adventure for the NES, and its remake Nightmare in Dream Land, is a great example of this.) Though Kirby and the Amazing Mirror (for GBA) is hugely nonlinear and has one of the craziest maps in video games. I wonder if you all would like it.

I love Kirby. Always have. Been more on and off with Mario. Didn't enjoy Mario 64 and Sunshine much, don't enjoy the 2D games or the sports games either. But I do love Mario Kart, Mario Party and galaxy a lot. So, I recently got Odyssey because Elden Ring was one of my most anticipated games, but my PS4 is broken, and who knows when I'll ever get my hands on a PS5. Everybody that loves soulsborne loves the game, I can't play it, it sucks. Kirby isn't coming out until the end of the month, so I was like, I'll finally treat myself to Mario Odyssey. And I love it. The open nature of it is fantastic. While I would love to see Kirby do something a bit more open as well one day, I am very happy that Kirby is something different. I really enjoyed this demo. Playing Kirby and the forgotten land back to back with Mario Odyssey is gonna be fun. Nothing wrong with a more linear approach.
The only thing I really dislike about the Kirby series is the music. They never use an orchestra, and it makes me sad because all of it would sound amazing with real instruments! Brawl's version of The Legendary Air Ride Machine and the 25th Anniversary concert show what could be.

The proportionals for Arceus didn't change much from how it looks on release, I think you just got used to the wiered lighting and textures when playing, vs a short clip or image
This game is absolutely charming! I might pick it up later.
With Arceus' graphics though I think they really could have done better. I take no issue with the style of the game and I think the colors can be quite pretty... But a game like that shouldn't have moments where you can see white pixels around your character in the dark, or have a pokeball turn into a blocky jpeg on water textures, or regularly have the grass glitch out, or have poor and limited character animations that cannot be attributed to style. It just feels like the game was rushed.

I do think there is a point to be made about the visuals. I still think it is a bit odd that Pokémon of all things doesn't look very pleasing graphically compared to other JRPG's on the same system. But I do agree that people just need to learn to enjoy things sometimes. I personally found sword and shield to not be worth the price. If my girlfriend didn't get it, I would have skipped it (still found the amount of outrage online a bit much). But legends arceus is finally making real steps to evolve the series, and people really enjoyed it. So at that point, who cares about the graphics anymore. Just enjoy it.
