Man, you nailed it!!! My Subaru WRX has been driving me crazy with a clunking noise. Thought it was struts. Took it to my shop and it's the right front lower control arm. EVERY symptom you listed is what I was experiencing. Thanks for the confirmation of what they found!!
How much did it cost you? I was quotes $569.
Literally same reason I’m here😅
Did you get the vibration while braking?
Can the bushing be replaced instead of the whole control arm
@@billydiaz7892yes if you have a press fit toolkit if not go the whole new control arm route it’s what mechs do anyway
Nice video man. I noticed some shaking in my 2011 honda pilot, took it to mechanic to diagnose and he told me ai have to replace front two lower arm controls. Now, after replacing them, no more shaking. Keep it up!!
I know this is a really old comment but do you happen to remember the price you paid to get it fixed?
@@reeces5490 I remember buying a pair of front control arms with ball joints from ebay for $230 and two front brake rotors for $65 and the mechanic charged me around $375 labor to replace those parts.
Was there any noise or it was just shaking while going over bumps?
@appsfight was the shaking felt at highway speeds too? I feel shaking in floorboard and I can see if I have things on my passenger seat I can see them shaking...I'm narrowing it down to control arms or struts...both are original at 181k miles...unless they were changed at or before 50k miles when I bought the car...
Subscribed. You go straight to the point and explain it well.
great video another symptom is your going straight down the road and the steering wheel will be cocked to the left or right not setting straight. And when you hit your brakes it can pull to the left or right depending on what one is loose or bad.
Bro, I don’t post much to auto maintenance vids or really in general but (assuming you even see this) I wanted to thank you for finally giving me something to work with that was both concise and informative.
I’ve tried tons of videos for tips to isolate the cause of my vibration and this one did it for me. I can’t tell you how grateful I am. Thank you so much!
Hey - did u get vibrations when holding the brake at stops? Thanks would appreciate your response
@@jayuddin9590 I want to make sure that I understand your question completely.
Do you mean vibration while the breaks are pressed and you are not moving (0 mph/kph)?
@@ajm3474 hey sorry about that, didn't clarify properly but yes for example when you're at a traffic light stop and your holding the brake whilst it's in Drive, I get the vibration and it's the same when I shift to reverse and hold the brakes down it vibrates. I have a worn out rubber bushing I think on the left lower control arm, wanted to know if that would cause the vibration around the car when holding down the brakes in gear?
Thanks again appreciate your help
Nice to have an intelligent, easily understandable and clear spoken guy as my go to for troubleshooting

Very kind, thank you!
Sitting in the shop getting mines replaced right now. I can’t wait to go fast again 🏁
Very good explanations along with demonstrations and no excess Blah Blah Blah or head cracking music that you hear in many many many TH-cam videos.... Thanks. Great job.
This first symptom is what I hear in my car 😅 will have it fixed! Thanks for the infor 🙏
Had a feeling it was the control arm and you helped me confirm it thanks for a the quick straight to the point video much appreciated
I liked how simple you kept this vid man! Super informative kept within 2 minutes 👍
This makes a lot of sense I have 114k on my truck I had a bad alignment and had to get new rotors thought that would fix the vibration which It did but I still feel at 65 mph so Def gonna tackle this next and hope that's the issue !
This video was very helpful....I already knew I needed to replace the control arm...but this helped me know how bad or how fast I need to replace
Thank you. I just bought an ls460 and luckily it doesn't have any of these symptoms.
Bro I got to thank you I replaced so many parts on my car because of your video that needed to be replaced I salute you keep doing the great work
I appreciate you!
Got cupping in my tires. I think you are spot on
Thank you so much! I've been finding the reason for those noises and I ended up replacing many stuff but its still in there.
Thank you so much for the symptom examples! I watched so many videos but yours was the only one that nailed it what to look out for. Thank you!
Awesome, thank you!
I change tires every month because they get bad worn out.I think and hope this video will help I’m doing my control arms this Friday because my truck always pulls to one side or other even alignment doesn’t help hopefully 🤞 changing control arms will help 😢
Very informative. Also might wanna note “leaning to one side”
What do u mean by leaning to one side? Is it continuously steering one side to keep on track and steering not align? Mine car shakes alot like bouncy shake
Hi, I am new here, but I really like you content, sir. You explanation is brief and straight to the point. In circa 2 minutes I can confirm or confute my deductions. Thanks a lot. Regards
Patrick
Awesome thank you!
My mechanic just told me I need to change the control arms (we call them cradles). The car just crossed 20,000 km however it is a foreign used 2013 model. It has a rattle when going over bumps which sounded like it was at the back of the car, but the muffler is secure. Literally just serviced a couple mths ago including changing brakes and a couple bushings.
Finally, To the point 👌👍🏼🙏
Thank you bro!
Nice job with this Video, thumbs up for those Brown Janoski’s 🤌🏽
Thanks, I'm swerving like mad.
Thanks man I couldn’t figure out what my issue was.. I thought it was ballpoints.. then an axle, then maybe end links. But this definitely sounds like my issue. Clunks when I go over bumps and I have uneven wear on my new tires
did it fixed?
@@INTEL965GAMES it wasn’t my control arm. It was my axle
Do bad shocks symptoms vid plz
My '12 acadia had a popping sound sometimes when starting to move. Replaced stabilizer link, both struts & shocks, and finally after replacing lower control arm the noises went away
Very informative, thank you!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video!
Thankyou so much, thats very helpful
and thank you!
THANKSMUCH FOR SHARING !
You said sometimes they wear out sooner ? My Subaru with only 33k just needed it replaced 🤦🏻♀️ not fun to do it when your expecting an oil change only but I did notice some of the symptoms you described
Thank you
Thanks for the video sir😊
Very helpful.
Very helpful!
Perfect…thanks
Super You have really did awesome
Very nice, thank you!
good video. keep on the good work!
Thank you!
Thanks brah!!!!!!
and thank you!
I appreciate you❤
I had the exact same issue
Thank you for video
i paid for 2 alignments from 2 different shops and it still pulls to the right and have to keep the steering wheel to the left to go straight
Should you replace the whole thing or just change the bushings and ball joints
I have a 2012 Nissan rogue. Just got my inspection. If one side needs replacement (Left side)and the other side has no wear. Should I just get the left replaced or do both together.
I always do both, Its always better to do them in pairs.
@@easyautofix Thanks. Will Do.
daamn you just made me realize my rear control arms are probably ready to replace. thanks 1234
and thank you!
I changed the top control arms and it was expensive. I just drove off in it and it feels worse! . The bottom ones are bad but should it be shaking that bad???? Please help 🙏 😢?OK so they said it was my tires so I just got new tires from where I got it fixed. Wish me luck !
When you replace control arms your alignment gets thrown off. I would recommend you to change the lower control arms too if they are bad and get a wheel alignment to have your car driving smooth again
I'm dealing with uneven wear
Good video bro.
Thank you !!
Wowwwe that’s what I have
Just an fyi this showed issues in 3 separate parts with 3 different symptoms...
It's not 3 parts of the control arm, it's 3 separate parts that make the the upper control arm.
I make this point not to be a Karen, but to fill in key parts of the video that's being left out cause anybody watching this is probably trying to fix there issue.
If it's the ball joint all you have to replace is the ball joint and it's a wayyyy easier and less cost to just pop out the ball joints.
Same with the bushings, no point of dis assembling your whole front drive assembly
In my challenger I can’t pass 90mph with out it shaking when I start to come down on speed it will shake but only on one side and there isn’t much tire wear
warped rotor?
Im pretty sure its a brakeline hose, its broken inside that hose
so must i buy new ones n go for wheel alignment ,im experiencing thus problem ...
Bro i got a chirping noise on my 2017 ram and its driving me crazy i took it to two shops and they said they dont know what it is 😪 it comes and goes but for sure its annoying
Could it also be because you have a sunroof?
Mine will jerk to the left when on the throttle over 30mph an will correct back to the right once the rpm drops an catches up. Literally any help before I take It in???
I have no noise I guess like if I had a bump it’s bouncy? Vibration not sure maybe it’s a sway bar?
Sounds like bad struts
I hear a clunking noise when i turn the steering wheel right
Can the bad arm make the tire wear outside
I live in phoenix and my car is 11 years-old with 70k miles on it. I have some clunking and minor vibrating. Mechanic told me to get them replaced. Should i or am i good to wait til i hit 90k miles? Bushings show some cracks but tire wear seems even.
If it is clunking I would get it replaced. Safety is the most important thing in my opinion.
@@easyautofix thanks for replying. I'll get it replaced soon.
can the vibrations be on the accelerator pedal?
Yes
Is alignment necessary after changing both arms?
yes very
Yes
Why don’t you take it for a drive after and then tell us what you’ve learned?
Yes
@EasyAutoFix some guys told me that to replace tge rubber bushings is not a good idea, because they will never achieve the same pressure of a original that came in the suspension arm and that it is "dangerous" to break and f the car. Do you agree? I bought the bushings but now i am worried to install it.
Anything that is new is always better. As long as the bushings are good quality, installed correctly and the control arm is in good condition there is nothing to worry about. Mechanics do it all the time.
Polymer bushings are best
I put brand new brake rotors and pads when i go over 70 and press my brakes it pulsates a little i cant figure it out
Get your wheels balanced
I was told that I need to get my control arms replaced but my car feels fine, no weird sounds or anything
Same thing happened to me 2 years ago. And now I'm finally starting to experience bad symptoms
Excellent Video for good Informations. Thanks a Lots
Everytime I brake at high speeds car swerves to one side u think it’s the upper control arm ?
Mine will jerk to the left when on the throttle over 30mph an will correct back to the right once the rpm drops an catches up. Literally any help before I take It in???
My control arm is scraping my rotar.
Thanks AI voice
Tires aren't cheap either
Buddy. Please change ur smoke detector battery
What if you hear a click noise when reversing turning on slow speeds?
Thank you. I just bought an ls460 and luckily it doesn't have any of these symptoms.
