Had all of this happen to me on my way to work last week. Turns out that it was the pigtail connector becoming loose. If you have an older car it's a good idea to zip tie your connector and map sensor connection. Check the wiring on the pigtail first to ensure it isn't a wiring issue.
All are actually great indicators. But the last one. Fuel comes out of your exaughst every time you drive. If you have black smoke it is most likely a manifold gasket leak. And needs to be taken to a shop right away before you cause permanent damage.
We have a rough idle, sometimes dies. You reatart, it'll run. We're getting minor white smoke. But no other symptoms of valve cover head gasket issues. Real good information here especially after just looking at another video and the guy was calling it a Mass Air Flow sensor which it is not ! After much reading on GDI engines and dirty intake valves etc .etc. I just used Lucas GDI cleaner on my 2020 Kia optima 2.5 normally aspirated engine (no turbo) . This engine is not easy to get the cleaner in without crossing over the MAP sensor Everything I have read says to stay away from a Mass Air Flow sensor and I totally get it.. I did use half the can on the other end of the manifold at the PCV hose and that looks like the left 2 cylinders get the bulk of it there. Started getting a backfire...but at first, it was rare...but every once in a while it would also 'drop idle' to low...so I think, 'hmmm....TPS sensor'. I replace it...but no change. Idle gets worse, so I think 'IAC valve'...clean everything up and replace it...OMG, my RPM now idles at 3,000! I keep looking, then see it...looks like dirt on a hose. Hi sir Map sensor & maf are same funtion? And both fiex all cars, or any one only. My lancer glx 2011 have smoke, rough idle, lossing power, not good pickup, it means map sensor or maf bad,?
Nice video 👍. I have a issue with cold start. Its start but after few seconds the engine is vibrating and a bad idle. After 5 min the engine runs fine again. Could it be Map sensor on my car to?
My car out of sudden it shut off on me on a stop sign then the next day when I go to work it was okay but it started to shake at when car was stopped. Thee real problem was when I got off at work I went to get the freeway but it stopped at 20 mph wouldn’t go higher the engine made a weird noise. I had to let go of accelerator and press it again to go higher When I press the accelerator it start to shake and it does go higher than speed and it worked. It kinda shakes too when the I press the accelerator I also told notice the needle in the rpm goes up and down. Can this be a issue ? I haven’t gone to get it check with the check engine machine
I have a 1998 Mitsubishi eclipse with a 2.0l engine (420A). Can a bad EGR cause the engine to burn oil at low rpms? I put new rings, bearings, timing belt, water pump and had the head rebuilt, basically rebuilt the engine. When I first start it up it runs and drives fine but after the engine warms up it lets out a big plume of smoke when I take off from a light or slow down and speed back up. I can't figure out what is causing it to smoke so heavily, it smoke's so heavy that I can't see the car behind me but after a few seconds of driving down the road it clears up and does not smoke until I stop or slow back down and speed up. I have also relaced the fuel pressure regulator, Idle air valve, both temp sending units, and the catalytic converter but it is still burning oil after it warms up, when it is cold it does not burn oil. What can be causing this problem?
mine is a p1297 for my 02 dodge ram 1500. and i got this code at 158k miles. i brought up the code by turning the key forward and back 3 times! My car cold starts at 800 rpms when the weather is cold (like below 16 degrees Celsius) can it be because of the map. Replaced injectors, coils, plugs, maf and cleaned the throttle body
My 17 Impala sounds like it's misfires when first starting nd then idles down n rides ok. But gets 5 mph less than it was, the auto store indicated also there was low voltage to the maps so need to check it out.
Breaking up during heavy acceleration, can also lead too the map sensor going out. Found that out today after 2 years and alot of change out parts too understand why I couldn't get pass 5,400RPM at heavy acceleration..
how often does a MAP Sensor go bad. i changed mine about 3 months ago and my car is just now showing reduced engine power. i got a check engine reading. and it said the MAP sensor is bad again.
This just happened to me. I took it to the shop and they said they replaced the map but the engine light is still on and I still can’t go over 50 mph. Should I ask them to replace the hoses or could it be something else?

Espero tus comentarios.
Definitely has the symptoms. The next step would be to get that check engine light checked out to read the codes and go from there.
Ford ranger 2.3 07 drives perfect and losses 100% power for a few seconds and goes back to normal. Would this be MAP sensor related?
mine is a p1297 for my 02 dodge ram 1500. and i got this code at 158k miles. i brought up the code by turning the key forward and back 3 times! It says theres about 4 reasons why it could be faulty but i bet its the map sensor.! ill let yall know. ive changed air control valve o2 sensors and purge valve no luck but im buying a map censor today
Awesome goodluck!
Did it work?
@@gmarinelarena8675 No 100% but mine was very black and dirty. i bet i have a short somewhere because when i turn the ac on it idles way lower. i feel tho changing the map sensor helped it from stalling out. It helped enough to get me around!
@@fadedacorn if you have a multimeter you can check the batery voltage. It might be the alternator if the problem happens when you turn on the ac.
Thank you for the great videos
One question is the code P2191 related to the bad MAP or bad injectors !?
My daughter has a 2015 Chevy Cruze. Recently the check engine light come on and it seems like the throttle response is lagging when you excelerate. It has power, but it’s just on take off. Took it to my local orielly and their scan showed not getting enough fuel and the MAP code. What do you think? TIA
I’m getting P1105 code, would that be a map sensor also to be replaced ?
Great video. Thanks
My car cold starts at 800 rpms when the weather is cold (like below 16 degrees Celsius) can it be because of the map. Replaced injectors, coils, plugs, maf and cleaned the throttle body
Are we not gonna mention the dying fire alarm? 😂
My 1992 eg8 rough idle, when revving black smoke
Idk ,I just blow with my mouth ,it look lot better now
Maybe need a new map sensor
Hello new friend here...thanks for sharing...
Thank you!
Hi mate.. on an automatic would a bad map sensor cause over an over rev?
I have a p007b for my f150 2.7l would this be the right part to replace?
Thanks!
Very nice of you! thank you for your donation
My 17 Impala sounds like it's misfires when first starting nd then idles down n rides ok. But gets 5 mph less than it was, the auto store indicated also there was low voltage to the maps so need to check it out.
does it also backfire since there's fuel in the exhaust?
Breaking up during heavy acceleration, can also lead too the map sensor going out. Found that out today after 2 years and alot of change out parts too understand why I couldn't get pass 5,400RPM at heavy acceleration..
Can you change the 9v battery in your smoke detector... thank you
Could the bad map sensor cause your rpm to read 0 when you don’t press the gas pedal? I have a 93 f350
Hi i have code p0171 and i tried removing the clip from MAF and truck did in fact turn off. So my MAF sensor is fine? What else could it be???
how often does a MAP Sensor go bad. i changed mine about 3 months ago and my car is just now showing reduced engine power. i got a check engine reading. and it said the MAP sensor is bad again.
This just happened to me. I took it to the shop and they said they replaced the map but the engine light is still on and I still can’t go over 50 mph. Should I ask them to replace the hoses or could it be something else?
Hola!
Espero tus comentarios.
Gracias

Change that smoke detector battery for me playa 😅 good vid tho
I got chevy aveo 2010, and after start it cuts off some time raves goes over 3 or 4 it give p0107 is it definitely map censor ?

Thanks much
I have MAP sensor code and EGR code.... No smell of gas... seems like it lacks power but the 06 freestyle is a dog with the CVR trans, City fuel economy is pathetic, 13 mpg. Highway around 25.5 which is ok. No smoke. What would you do? I cleaned that sensor multiple times.
Hello
I have a vw passat cc 2.0 tdi 2009 I get these two codes p0238 p0113.the problem is I changed the sensor back to the same codes I took out on the computer.
Thanks for help
Good presentation. Last question: what causes that 'beep' sound in the back ground? ;)
Dead/dying battery in a smoke detector.
Would cleaning dirty MAP sensor with MAF cleaner give results?
Would it harm the sensor?
