huge HUGE apologies for any and all mispronunciations in this video, I suck! Also sorry for taking so taking so long with this, I've been busy - anyway here you are, please enjoy, ly xoxo
God I love vocaloid. I could talk about it for hours, I could listen to it for hours, learn about it for hours, exist within this world of possibilities and infinite opportunities and never ending potential for creation for all time.
Miku is absolutely my favorite character ever and she deserve all the worldwide love she gets. My favorite thing about her is just how versatile she is-- anyone can make any song they want with her and there are hundreds of different designs of her, but you can always tell it's miku!! I was never a big vocaloid fan until the last couple years, but listening to vocaloid songs and animations was my favorite pastime when i was growing up. She can be anything you want, and that's something very unique and special to me!
I CAN’T BELIEVE AND CAN’T FORGIVE MYSELF FOR JUST SEEING THIS NOW. I’VE BEEN COMPLETELY ENRAPTURED AND OBSESSED WITH VOCALOID SINCE I WAS 9 AND I MISSED THIS VIDEO SOMEHOW. THANK YOU. SO MUCH FOR THIS. THIS IS EXTREMELY WELL MADE AND THE EDITING IS SUPERB AND THIS WAS EXTREMELY ENTERTAINING AND GOD I JUST FELL IN LOVE WITH VOCALOID ALL OVER AGAIN THIS IS SUCH A GREAT VIDEO I LOVE VOCALOID SO MUCH I’M STRUGGLING KEEPING MY MOUTH SHUT CAUSE ITS LATE AND I SHOULD NOT BE SCREAMING AT MIDNIGHT.
WORDS TRULY WON’T EVER BE ENOUGH TO DESCRIBE THE RANGE OF FEEL I HAVE FOR VOCALOID. IT’S SUCH A DEEPLY FASCINATING CONCEPT AND WORLD TO ME, AND I’M SO GLAD I’VE BEEN ABLE TO EXPERIENCE IT IN MY LIFETIME. I WELL AND TRULY DO NOT KNOW WHERE I WOULD BE WITHOUT VOCALOID, AS I CONSIDER IT PRETTY MUCH A PART OF MY IDENTITY WITH HOW MUCH IT SHAPED MY TASTES AND LIKES AND HOBBIES. I CONSIDER I OWE HATSUNE MIKU AND YAMAHA AND ALL THESE WONDERFUL ARTISTS AND CREATORS MY LIFE AND I WILL THANK THIS SOFTWARE THIS, THIS COMMUNITY FOR EXISTING TILL THE END OF MY DAYS.
This video is so well made I was honestly surprised to see how underrated it is. It's a really good introduction to vocaloid for people who don't know much about it ^^
For real, I only thought of it as a synthetic robotic voice and couldn't really understand the aesthetics behind the vocals. But explaining the consumerist aspect of it and how it assist artists, musicians and collaborations really helped me understand that Miku is just a face for a literal software that produces a synthetic voice. I thought it was only for songs, hence my confusion when people cosplayed or draw her worldwide. But when she explained that the Vocaloid company made it usable by anyone, aka, no copyright it made more sense to me. Also, the Nyan cat was a nice example - it's a childhood favorite of mine. I used to play it with my Mother in bed, and as she is very adversed to Japanese media (anime, manga, etc.) it's nice knowing that the Nyan cat would not have been complete without the software itself. Also, I literally thought Hatsune Miku wasn't completely digital at one point when I saw glimpses of the concerts online. I thought it was owned by one person, maybe even a company so that was a misleading thought. This TH-camr explaining that Hatsune Miku is basically a mascot for a Vocaloid software just..clicked.
I think the robotic and ai sounding voice adds a lot of character and uniqueness to the songs where vocal lids are used. People often listen to vocal lid songs specifically for the robotic vocals. At least that’s why I listen to it :)
Thank you for making this video. With vocaloid and hatsune miku being as popular as they are you would think more videos explaining the history, how these virtual idols came to be and how their program and licensing works and such, would exist, but it was rather hard to find one quite honestly. So, thank you
Hey, so I came across Vocaloids music not long ago because of a friend and wanted to learn more about it. Your video definitely helped me a lot, thanks! You brought up so much content under a short time, and of course your way of telling this history was captivating. Congrats and thank you again for making this video!
Amazing video! I love how you went through Vocaloid's development history and how you explained the open character license Miku has. A minor correction/explanation for 21:14, in the Vocaloid EULA it states that you have to put the name of the voicebank being used in the work. It doesn't explicitly say the title of the work though and it by no means invalidates your point. I think it's just become common practice to put the VB name in the title specifically. Again, your point still very much stands with how the songs get attributed to the Vocaloid and not the actual artist who made the song. I also think people are more inclined to click on/listen to a song sung by their favorite Vocaloid. I am one of those people who was very inspired to create art thanks to Vocaloid, and it's always nice to see people talk about the human part of Vocaloid. If it weren't for Miku, I probably wouldn't have gotten into 3D modeling/animation and music production!
dude the editing is great! def deserves more love. I've been obsessed since I was like 10, and I'm seeing miku soon IRL and using it for my own music! crazy how time flies
As an American Miku enjoyer, how on earth did Miku get popular here? Like she's an anime-looking Japanese voice used to make Japanese songs that somehow get popular to people who don't even know the language?! I guess it's for the same reason splatoon music is popular but still. The songs are really good though, even if I don't know what "sekai eme" means without looking it up.
early 2000s moe shit and memes, such as ievan polka and po pi po. also not all her songs are japanese so it adds to the appeal to western viewers. Anamanaguchi's song Miku bein the most popular and probs an introduction to plenty.
As a veteran vocaloid lover, if you don't credit the artist, we'll often cold shoulder you. Also, it's really time to stop the misinformation that she's always underage, she's not. Miku is whatever you want her to be, and tbh, the more adult songs really don't portray her physically as she appears in her original form. Yes, she's sexualized, and yes, many people sexualize the underage version of her bc they're fkn sick in the head, but this narrative from non veteran consumers that these characters are always rigidly a specific age or in specific relation to each other is getting really old. There's no canon anything because EVERYTHING is canon about Miku. Genuinely every single song is technically canon; we wouldn't have old lady Miku if this wasn't true, which we do. It doesn't make me angry or anything, but it's very disheartening to see a lot of people being introduced to vocaloid with blatant misinformation.
so wen you say your a fan fo vacliod sis or baseic lee saying your a fan fo vsinger sis as thas wet some if not all vsinger sis at times call them selfsis is vacliod sis this has ben haku 07 prsaditn fo all things vacliod hav a nices day from the hads fo god

miku doesn’t actually have a fixed age, race, gender etc. but i will say that guy recently came on twt saying he married her with the intention of her being 16 so it’s definitely odd in that aspect…

God I love vocaloid. I could talk about it for hours, I could listen to it for hours, learn about it for hours, exist within this world of possibilities and infinite opportunities and never ending potential for creation for all time.
I share this exact sentiment! The possibilities for vocaloid are endless! Anyone can be a creator and there are no bounds to art people make with it!
u get me
Agreed
6:36 why can I not escape AI Art 😭
so THATs what it is... I knew something was off with that pic
I hate the fact how it's become harder to tell the difference between an image generated by AI vs an image drawn by a human

There is something special about miku I'm always thinking about her as an real human person
This video feels like it should have more views, it’s really well made!
Thank you! Maybe one day it'll randomly appear in feeds again haha

I remember recommending this topic months ago and it happened. You did an amazing job!
I remember! Thanks so much, I'm glad you enjoyed :)
i'm just getting into miku stuff(thanks to oo-ee-oo) and this was extremely helpful!
And I love vocals
19:34 I found out about this story a while ago while looking for sources for an essay for school.
i wasn't expecting the "nyan" to be pronounced as "naiahn"
Technical voice has been invented since 1963, until it gets popular in 2007 by *MIKU* and other CVs (Character Voicebank)
This is cool video-Kagimine Lens toe (REAL!)
I’m here because it’s time for me to learn about Miss Hatsune miku
What an amazing vedio! 🤩 really informative😚😚😚I learned a lot😉
Hatsune Miku reminded me plentifully of Mimi from PERFECT BLUE.
Great comparison!
Wow
4:23 wait is this teto terrority?
You forgot her impact on with the memes
I have a video about Leekspin lmao.
I'm a little sad you never included Len even by name :( You mentioned Rin and Luka but not Len.
vocaloid saved my life
Titanic! Good work =D
When I think of anime music, I unfortunately think of Daft Punk with their “One More Time” music video.

I’m so sad that everyone likes hatsune miku and I like Kaito and theirs no Kaito stuff 😢😢😢
we need to update this video… miku has finally made it into fortnite😭🙏
Personally I think it’s unfair that that guy got to marry Miku… it’s should’ve been me… NOT HIM.
On a serious note, I wanna sing with Miku 🥲✨

@@khv12345 I agree that’s exactly why people need to learn more about Hatsune miku and the ability of vocaloids
