All previous vocaloids, and several that came afterwards, were made by sampling singers using their natural singing voices. Miku, Rin/Len and Luka were crafted by voice actors that made up new voices for these characters.

She bore a place into my heart and has been camped there ever since. She has a style of music for everyone, but you may have to dig a little for yours. These artists are so creative; livetune, RyuushiP, Tranceformer Yuno, Clean Tears, 4octave, Yunosuke, Polar Bear Eraser, Transient Energy, Noboru, HSP, Twinfield, Hachioji-P, Ein Schritt, Yasuha, Ele4nor, AlpacaP, Osanzi, Mwk ...........and on and on. I put the start to Assassin Princess as my ringtone. Kudos to Crypton Future Media for releasing her for public use. Most corporations would never dream of doing that. Anyway, I have many songs I like (and I'm picky), still digging.
