    This is the most awesome car I've ever seen in my life. I love it and I thought my dream car was the 1960 but this one has stole my heart my gosh man what a blessing just awesome, thanks I'm 60 year's old and know that I may never have one but sure would be nice to someday.

    It's just awesome to see the long tube cast iron headers on an FE. They really are works of art.

    FI is nice once it is set up, but nothing beats the old school roar of a 4 barrel opening up the secondaries.
    A good carb man could get you setup with the correct jetting & fuel pressure etc.
    Just my 2 cents.
    Hope the EFI works out for you.
    Damn sweet looking-sounding Ford!!

      If you want efficient get an electric motor, if you want visceral get old school V8 with one or two four barrel carbs.

    I love that car, you did a marvelous job with it.
    If you don't drive it a lot, I suggest you keep Sta-Bil in the tank. It helps keep gas fresh.
    I have a vehicle I seldom use. I keep mothballs in it and around it to keep out the mice. The gas in that tank is now three years old but it will start and run well. I intend to siphon that out and mix it with my two other cars I so can get fresh gas in it. but this is a good example of how Sta-Bil makes a difference.

    Have always loved the style of the 61 Starliner. Love that interior. It's pretty close to how I would build one. Would love to find one some day, but life dictates otherwise. There was one in a field with several other cars where I grew up that the farmer let goats tear up. Looking back it would have been well worth it to get the stainless off of it. Wish I knew then what I do now. I think the EFI will really make that 428 a nice driver for you. Hope you get plenty of time to enjoy it.

    I had a '62 2dr post, a 406 car with 3sp overdrive....When the 406 broke it was replaced with a Holman Moody race prepped 427 high rise built for a drag boat but using 3x2bbl and duel point 406 stuff....It was white with small hubcaps and it bent a set of Cal-Van "unbendable" traction bars......Best sleeper EVER ! ....Let's just say it was a 'torquey little motor'...haha (it was known to lift the front wheels when hitting 2nd gear)....The 1960's were soooo much fun, eh ....PS, ...I actually had the same '66 Mustang steering wheel and white shift knob on a Hurst shifter.....(I'm your 428th 'like'...how about that? )

    • @Johnnycdrums
      @Johnnycdrums ปีที่แล้ว

      Same steering wheel was available in the 66' 7 Litre, a beautiful car.
      I hated the 67' wheel and everything after that was meh!
      What the hell did you do to break the 406, those things are rare?
      Was it like a 4 spd on the column in the form of an "H" pattern?

    • @johnmckenna8989
      @johnmckenna8989 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Johnnycdrums ...The transmission was a 3speed o.d. ..Floor mounted Hurst shifter The only options with a 406 was a 4 speed or 3 speed o.d. (Borg Warner)....A 'friend' borrowed my car and removed the air cleaner and a cleaning cloth was sucked in, carboned up a valve and the piston did the rest....Blew 2 lobes of the camshaft out the side of the block.....The damn thing still ran AND spun the rear tires as all the damage was at the rear of the engine so didn't affect the front......HA, I just had a thought, it must've been Ford's first V6....LOL....

    Wayne you are my hero. I live in Michigan but I have a condo in Hallandale probably not that far from you. I have all products as well. That carb problem sounds like you may have to adjust the float because if the carbs are mismatched, you will bog down as they can work against each other.

    Wayne, I would suggest you go to a much milder cam for street use; I recall you are running a high duration high lift cam - really only a maximum HP drag racing piece. Since you have a roller, You would want around .520-.540 lift and absolutely less than 230 duration at .05" lift. you don't need more on the roller as it has fast ramps. I would go Hydraulic. No valve lash to constantly check. And you don't need fuel injection, you need someone who can tune dual quads - or you can optionally run dual 2 bbls. You don't need more than 750 CFM anyways. If you go too big, you are getting a poor booster signal.
    Also, check you fuel pressure. Carbs don't like over 6 to 8 psig of pressure. If you need more fuel, you run a bigger fuel line ( like 3/8" instead of 5/16" ) not more pressure.
    Dont give up there are guys who know this stuff. I hope its running better and you are too. since this video was posted in November of 2017. My da had a 62 whn I was just a pup of about 6 year old. loved that car. I Think it was a 352 V8. Happy Trails! - Sandy

    Curious, plug temp changed? Fuel pressure, if she’s hungry give what she wants, you just told the wife the same story, Lol. Also a power cutoff to the pump for emergencies. I’m sure you thought of all these, but just in case. If affordable a Halon extinguishers, I dislike fuel injection for this very reason. I seldom saw a car on the side of the road in flames in the 60’s thru 70’s . Now it’s as common as the sun. Nice machine, bravo this was no easy task. Thanks for keeping real cars available for the youth to see and learn to appreciate both Grandpa and his days of true American Freedom.

    The 428(4.13 bore, 3.98 stroke) CID wasn't available till five years after the Starliner. ..even the dual-quad intakes were still two years away...this is an amalgamation of FE engines to an earlier body.

    • @Johnnycdrums
      @Johnnycdrums ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He obviously knows the engine isn't date code correct.
      428's are a lot easier to source than 406's or 427's, but hey, he did kept it an FE.
      Additionally the XL 500 interior is either from a 62' or 63'.
      61's did not have floor mounted shifters, but they did have a 4 spd on the column option.
      Those actually might be Thunderbird front seats, but that's ok too.
      The freaky thing about it, and probably the coolest, is the cast iron, tubular header pipes that only came stock on the 427 (R) code engine and maybe the 406 in 62', but certainly not on any iteration of the 428.
      Wheels and tires aren't stock either, it has a dual master cylinder and he probably upgraded the brakes while he was at it, and why not?
      This car is a subtle and tastefully done restomod.

      @@Johnnycdrums4 XL interior. The 63 front seat back was a lot thicker. They did use those seats in 65-66 T Bird as well with a different upholstery pattern. But this is definitely a 64 Galaxie XL500 interior, well the seats anyway

    • @Johnnycdrums
      @Johnnycdrums ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidkeeton6716 ; I can see that, and why not, as 61' Starliner interiors were no where near as nice as the XL 500's that came later.

  • @johnhillside9105
    @johnhillside9105 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your floats are not closing the needle valve. All fuel is drawn from the bowl 🥣. Just like any other container, if the container is full,...the needle valve closes the fuel flow, the flow from the fuel supply. When the valves close,...fuel will not overfill the combination. Idling is mixed with the right amount of atmosphere.
